I went cold turkey off zyprexa after 10 days of use. Had horrible headache and insomnia, so I went back on, but I stopped after three days because my muscles twitched so much. Now my emotions are completely blunted and my head feels weird-I feel completely disconnected from the world. As for my emotions, I feel totally apathetic--no good emotions, no bad emotions, and when I wake up in the morning, I feel totally uncomfortable. Can anyone relate?
Henk323 - I experience exactly the same. I took zyprexa for 1 month and stopped cold turkey becuase I was developing movement disorders. Do you still experience this or does it go away? I already have apathy and insomnia for 2 months now and no improvements at all. How long can it last?

I don't know. There is still no improvement detectable. How is it for you. Do you still suffer from emotional blunding?

Dizzylizzy - i have been on olanzapine for 5 days - i have m e and fibroyalgia. It is helping me sleep - have upped dose from 2.5 to 5 mg on gp's advice,however it seems to make my vision distorted, visual snow, blurry and it had made the dizziness i suffer from worse. please does anone know if these feelings/ effets will pass ? if so how long will it take. I am medication sensitive (very)- it as been given to me for anxiety which is terrible and derealization which is because of the stress of being so ill (so they say) any thoughts welcomed please
Henk323 - Finally, after almost one year of suffering I am getting back to normal. You need a lot of patience lizzy but it goes away. I still have some strange things hapening in my body such as muscle contractions, but this is not too bad. Even that is going away slowly. I actually feel happy again. My advice; don't take zyprexa unless you really are out of options and your problems are enormous and unhandable without treatment. Zyprexa is terrible stuff not to joke with and don't stop cold turkey. I did and it costed me a year of my life, but it goes away. You will get better. It seems as if it never goes away. I was in the ER because things got so bad two months ago, but it did go away. You have to trust it will. It will help you get better quicker. Your mind needs to get in peace and worrying won't help you. Believe me, you will be fine but stop taking zyprexa and do this slowly. Never cold turkey.
Henk323 - Almost 12 months, but I am completely recovered. My advice: never take zyprexa. And never stop cold turkey. If you are taking zyprexa, get of slowly, but start right now. One more thing: if you are stopping zyprexa and you experience emotional blunting: don't start again, this doesn't help. And although it might feel as if you will never recover, you will recover eventually. I was really messed up for almost a year, but I completely recovered by myself. No help frOm any drug.
Zerogravity - thanks for the massage i was on zyprexa for 4 mouths hope i recover in the same time frame as you its really getting to me now feeling like this for almost 9 mouths
Henk323 - Just hang on. You will get better. I was in the ER even after 11 months because I desperately was seeking for help since nobody was able to help me. The psychiatrists only wanted to give me more drugs which I, thank god, refused. But not even one month later I started to recover. Once it starts it goes fast. One month later I was almost back to normal having only some physical problems, such as being very tired all the time. But the mental stuff was normal again. I was back being the old happy me. Now I am fully recovered!

I currently have been off my medication for 13 days and still feel strong side effects as if I was still on it. Like rapid heartbeat, blunted emotions, I can't sleep bcuz of heart beat, no libido, anxiety, head numbness/foggyness. I read that it takes up to 8 days to completely leave your system, and its day 13, ne1 get this? Should I be taking certain vitamins? Zerogravity - henk323 how long did u take to fully heal when u noticed 1 week 2 etc and are u including the mouth u takeing zyprexa as a year sorry about this last question am at 11 mouths and dieing to get back to normal
Jackson01 - I was put on Zyprexa for mild anxiety.....I was on it for a year and a half....gained tons of weight and slept all the time. I wended myself off, but not slow enough. It has now been 3 months and I feel like crap....I sleep okay, but my head is always screwed up....feels funny all the time and anxiety is worst that it was to begin with....will I get better? I refuse to go back on any meds....I regret the day I put any in my mouth.
