Yaz/food Allergies and Extreme Fatigue/moodiness - With a Solution!
I took YAZ for 9 months this year and in retrospect, I can see how connected it is with severe symptoms I had. It cleared up my skin and made my periods regular, which is of course what I noticed most about it. But about 3 or so months after starting it, I began to have serious stomach problems. I cycled between constipation and diarrhea, no rhyme or reason to it; I was afraid to eat anything because it would make me so unbelievably nauseous, but then I would get super faint and anxious if I didn't eat every 2 hours or so; I began to have real emotional ties to this stomach problem and would get a depression when I ate and an anxiety around what it was going to do to me. My doc thought it was a gluten allergy. I then started getting migraines at about 5 months in and I've never had a migraine in my 26 years on this earth. I started to notice an extreme fatigue, never feeling like I got enough sleep. I was also very disinterested in things and had high levels of anxiety and was developing some phobias. I really thought something was seriously wrong with me and was honestly scared to go to the doctor as I thought I might have cancer or something. ... more »

I started to notice an extreme fatigue, never feeling like I got enough sleep. I was also very disinterested in things and had high levels of anxiety and was developing some phobias. I really thought something was seriously wrong with me and was honestly scared to go to the doctor as I thought I might have cancer or something.
Let me tell you the good news! I stopped YAZ in an effort to get to the bottom of my symptoms, just in case it was doing something to me. I started working with my homeopathic doc to combat all these symptoms. A test for my stomach revealed that it was inflamed and the good probiotics had been taken over by bad bacteria. I was also extremely deficient in vitamins because my stomach was such a wreck. I went on an elimination diet and cleansed my system for 6 weeks (no products with dairy, gluten, corn, tomatoes, sugar, caffeine, or eggs) which was so hard, but made me feel 100% again. I also started taking good probiotics and an intestinal healing powder that my doc prescribed. And now I can eat gluten in moderation. I've also been getting trigger point massages, which hurt like nothing else, but get at the tension that causes the migraines. For my fatigue/vitamin deficiency, I have been getting vitamin C IV drips, which has been amazing. All this sounds so intense, but it is so so worth asking your doctor about because 2 months after stopping YAZ, I haven't had a migraine, my stomach feels so much better and it's regular, my fatigue is alleviated, and my mood has improved immensely.
Obviously, I can't say for sure that YAZ is the culprit to all of this, but it's seems too coincidental. I was running half marathons and going to work/school full time and having no problems with it before I went on the pill. Then I turned into a sick, emotional, tired shell of the person I was. Now that I've done all this work to feel better, I can say 1) it was worth it and 2) I will never take YAZ again!
