This was a miracle drug for me. Back in the mid-90's I was depressed and a self diagnosed alcoholic. I was drunk most of my life and then (1995) I was 35 years old. I went to get the Zyban to stop smoking. It worked. But the best was that I had absolutely no desire for alcohol. I was a serious drunk! I had never gone more than one week without being drunk since 1971. Except in about 1980 I was sober in AA for 7 months. I couldn't believe it! The stop smoking part had a couple of "slips" but no alcohol. I stopped taking it one time because I was without insurance and it's expensive. I immediately- or within 6 days began drinking again. Then I was able to get it again for a couple of years (insduranc) then again stopped because of the cost in the mid 90's. I started cocaine and alcohol. lost my mind a couple for years and then, fortunately I got another job with insurance. The Wellbutrin stopped craving or any desire to use cocaine or alcohol. I've been "clean" ever since. I used 300mg daily for about 10 years and then they upped me to 450. It's a miracle drug for me! Oh, yea, I stopped smoking plus it gives me energy to work out at the gym which resulted in loosing 10 lbs. I wish everyone had this side effect.
Mrbubby5 - Wow Thank Goodness. I have been taking Wellbutrin for 2 weeks, I have noticed a big change, all good! I do have to say friends have made me wonder about this drug. I have had people tell me you really need to be careful of that drug...etc...
I feel like every single anti dep out there has the bad side effects, and it's not JUST Wellbutrin. I am a little paranoid though, I have not heard anything good about it. So thanks, you are the first one I have found with positive things to say.
I do know that everyone is diffrent, so what works for one may not work for the next person. I feel better, more energy, no depression, and smoking has decreased. I have not noticed any of these side effects that people are speaking of, but if I keep reading all this it makes me paranoid!

Acesmom73 - I just wanted to say thank u. Like othera I have been on the web researching it since I started taking it three weeks ago. I had no drive ,didn't really enjoy anything and had no energy. I have there children and I feel this has given them their mother back.
Lizzynaut - I have seen the good good good with this drug & possibly that bad as well. I took this drug while I was in the army & this drug along with prayers to God are pretty much what saved me from getting a mental health discharge (yes I was just one step away from getting kicked out for being crazy!) This drug however changed my whole demeanor, I felt like my old happy self again with it. I stayed on it for 2 1/2 years then when I got out of the army I got off of it. I believe I was taking 150mg a day then.
Now Im back on it because I was having panic attacks at school (lost my hubby in 07 to war, I was in nursing school, had to quit) I realized it was the review of the same subject matter that was triggering me to have these panic attacks because I felt like i was back in 07 right before he was killed. Im on 300 mg this time & Im not sure but think the issues im having are side effects. joints, muscles ache, vertigo, memory issues, jaw pain, ear pain, nausea, burping a lot, I also still get little panic attacks but they are not so bad & im able to talk myself away from them in 30 seconds as appose to 5 minutes & sometimes much longer before.
Planning to see if my dr can lower my dose & yes vita
min d is so important for mental health, we neglet to realize that 50-100 years ago we got a lot more sun then we do now & granted s
documenting things has come along way but im still willing to bet there q
