Topomax for Appetite Suppressant
Posted over a year ago
Has anyone been given Topomax for appetite control? I have just started taking it for that and I was started on a dose of 25mg. Has anyone else lost weight on this? Let me know please!
Tranquilm - Yes, It can cause weight loss. It can also cause blindness, Kidney stones, and lots of other nasty side effects I'm sure you don't want. Here's my list after taking this drug after a month and a half because I was hoping for a better bi-polar drug to also help me lose weight:
nausea
gagging
vomiting
skeletal pain
leg pain
chest pains
blurry vision
flashing lights in eyes
hands, feet, knees, face and scalp falling asleep, even while sleeping
diarhrea
constipation
chronic gas
digestive pain
stomach pain
nervousness
anxiety
moodiness
crying every day
insomnia
depression
agressive thoughts
itching
dry mouth
thirst
muscle weakness/pains
all this became daily and worsened with time.
I can't recommend this drug to anyone now.
There are better and healthier ways to lose weight.
It does make you lose your appetite but for me it's not worth it. I've read horror stories on the web. I got out before it got really ugly. I wouldn't take a chance on your health, hon.
Gmb1 - I lost weight on it and did not experience the side effects listed above. It actually helped me to sleep better and I no longer have to take Ambien every night. I didn't start losing weight until I was on 200 mg for at least a couple of months.
Set0410 - I was put on this drug to help with migraine prevention. It helped and I also lost 30 pounds while on it. I stopped taking it because I was in college and couldn't afford it pay for any kind of prescriptions. I've thought about getting on it again for the migraine pain and weight loss. I don't remember having any bad side effects, but I already deal with genetic depression, and this drug didn't make it any better or worst for me. Hope this helps, but just remember that everyone's body is different.
Camie08 - there is a generic out now, but consumer beware. Of course every person's body is different, but this person's body didn't sweat and after exercsing the drug attacked my body and put me in the hospital. It compromised my left lung and I spent 2 days in the hospital. It has been 2 weeks and we still don't know what is wrong. My oxygen saturation goes from 77% to 99% and my heart rate goes from 56 to 150 beats a minute just when I walk across the room ( I wear an O-Sat monitor). I weigh 115lbs and before the hospital I could walk a mile in less than 16 minutes, now it takes me 30 minutes to walk an 1/8 of a mile. I am trying to find out what happened to me and knows how to make me better that is all I want. I don't want to sue anyone. I am not that kind of personality. I am a student of pharmacy. I am two classes away from going to pharmacy school and if I don't get better I won't be able to go. I just want to get better. I am in so much pain. My chest hurts so much. I feel like I am in congestive heart failure. Thanks for any help
