Weight Gain
Posted over a year ago
I have been on singulair for 3 months - Gained 10 lbs - I have for 2 months eaten better (lean Protein and vegetables) and cut out half my soda intake and replaced it with water and yet I have just gained another 3 lbs in the last two weeks, I hate this because "I CAN BREATHE".
Rbaird75 - I'm not a trainer or nutritionist, but have you tried counting your calories or making a food log. I started doing that recently and couldn't believe how many calories I was eating in a day. When I kept my intake under 1800 I started losing weight. I haven't noticed any weight gain while taking Singulair though. Mine is just baby weight. Good luck to you!
Meds2many - I have gained 30 lbs over a period of 15 months. I had taken Singulair for several years, but had lost weight and regained weight (10-15 lbs) due to other medical conditions. I had stayed at a pretty steady weight for about two years before this current bout of weight gain. We moved and I hurt my back, which required me to take some heavy meds and steriods. A month later I started to gain weight rapidly. I tried to cut back, but didn't take it too seriously until I was healthy enough to exercise and started counting calories. I cut backto 1700 calories, then 1500, then 1300 then 1200. I now rotate between 1200 and 1500, because my doctor said my metabolism will slow down too much if I only eat the 1200 calories per day. I now fluctuate between losing and gaining 3-4 lbs. The only exercise I can do is walking and my physical therapy for my back. hI have cut out so many other meds that I had been taking for pain, RA (mis-diagnosed), GI disorder and asthma/allergies. I am now trying to cut out the Singulair. I will post if there is any significant change.
