I reported at the end of March that I had taken my 9 year old son off Singulair as a result to finding these sites and realizing for the last 3 years he has suffered as a result of the side effects. I am pleased to report now it has been 2 weeks since his last tablet the following:-
-he is much happier, there have been no aggressive temper tantrums
-he has much more energy and not tired all the time
-he hasn't complained of pins/needles, cramp or aching limbs or headache "fuzzy" head.
-he is sleeping in longer in the mornings, he woke at 8am today which is unbelievable. He normally wakes at 6am moody and tired.
-he is interacting better with children and adults and appears to have more patience and is just happy and not deliberately upsetting people.
-he is not angry all the time and has now used any negative speech, ie. he hates his life, there is no point, his life is boring.
-there have been no episodes of uncontrollable crying and feeling depressed and not knowing why.
I am hoping once he is back at school after the Easter break the teacher will notice changes in his attitude at school, his concentration level and the ability to focus and understand instructions better.
I know it is still early days however the improvement is amazing, we are so pleased and are 110% certain his behavioral issues were as a result of this medication.
I will never allow my son to take Singulair again. He was on it for Eosinophilic & allergic colitis. Although he suffers with seasonal asthma it is not severe. I would not recommend for any parent to take a child who suffers with severe asthma off this drug without consulting a doctor first.
