Simvastatin & Urine Smell

My doctor put me on 10 mg simvastatin. Within 48 hours my urine had a smell--strong, bitter. (Color is clear, so no problem there). Doctor and pharmacist had never heard of such a thing, yet there are accounts of it on blogs. After six months I was given a CPK test, but it was normal. No other symtoms from drug, but I don't think this smell beginning after I started taking the drug is just a coincidence. No mention of this as a side effect in the drug info, but the manufacturers have to be aware of this. Why don't they warn about it and why are doctors and pharmacists ignorant of this result? And what does this smell indicate---nothing good I fear. Are lots more people just not aware of their urine and/or haven't mentioned it to their doctors?

Chadd - Statin drugs cause an incredible number of bad side effects, and there are literally thousands of posts here from innocent and trusting patients who have suffered debilitating damage from these drugs. Cholesterol is actually essential for the health of every cell in the body, and patients are unaware of how statin drugs break down the cell membranes of your muscles, joints, and nerves, including the brain. It was obviously a huge financial threat to Big Pharma and their multi-billion$ statin drug industry. Vitamin C is not only a strong antioxidant, it is the essential nutrient needed to make collagen. After years of wear and tear from the pumping action of the heart, the interior walls of arteries near the heart become worn down and damaged. In order to repair and heal this damage, the body needs large quantities of vitamin C to produce collagen, which is sort of a glue used to maintain the health of all connective tissue. But if there is not enough vitamin C to produce the strong collagen needed to heal the wounds, then the body has to use cholesterol proteins in the bloodstream as a sort of 'band-aid' to patch over the wounds and prevent death from internal bleeding. That is how the plaques are initially formed in the arteries and cardiovascular disease develops. Cholesterol did not CAUSE the wounds, it's only there as a consequence of the wounds. Inadequate vitamin C causes the inability of the body to produce sufficient collagen necessary to repair the artery walls.
