I reluctantly started 20mg simvastatin on 8/16/10 at the advice of my doctor due to elevated cholesterol levels which has been increasing over the years despite mild exercise and monitoring certain food intake. Well, like the rest of you, I started have annoying pains specifically in my thighs at night. I am a 47 year old woman. I attributed the pains to (all of a sudden) a bad mattress. I also walk a mile a the track daily but felt that I needed better sneakers because the bottom of my feet hurt. Well $50 later, (although tempted to buy the new $100 sketchers), I remembered my doctor saying a side effect is muscle pain. I have ceased using the medication stat (ha) and informed my doctor of such. For now, I plan to go the natural way of increased exercise and improved nutrition. Thanx for taking the time to share your experience. It has helped me tremendously.
