I collapsed in a Kmart 45 minutes after taking 120 mg of pseudoephedrine hydrochloride for sinus pressure. Started getting really dizzy and light-headed, found a bench to sit down. After a few minutes, I was unable to stand up or even lift up my head. My heart was racing, my arms and legs were tingling, I started vomiting and breathing rapidly. I was unable to slow down my breath (and I've taken yoga for years, for pete's sake!) I was unable to get up and find someone to help me. Finally an K-mart employee found me and called 911. At the hospital, I lost muscle coordination, could barely lift my arm or my eyelids. I started shaking uncontrollably. My speech was slow and blurred. I could barely talk. I began having intense colorful, moving visions behind my closed lids. Yet all this time, my hearing was sharp and I felt incredibly alert, mentally. After three hours---and anti dizziness meds, I was able to open my eyes and sit up. A full day later, I still feel a bit dizzy, weak and foggy-headed. Scary experience.
