How to Go Off Prednisone

I have ben on prednisone for Sweet's Syndrome and I am swollen in the face. I am now decreasing my dossage as per doctor's instructions but wonder if I can reduce the prednisone faster than 5 mg. every 7 days. I started on 60 mg. a day, went to 40 mg. a day, then 35, then 30, and am now on 25 mg. a day (reducing at 7 day intervals). I started taking prednisone the first week of April and am very tired of the swelling (especially in my face). I don't know what the side effects of reducing it faster could be as I don't want any medical problems by doing it faster BUT if reducing it faster will not cause any, then I really just have to ...I look like a squirrel and need to be presentable in public. As to being hungry... (this is not my first time on prednisone for this condition), I have learned to eat protein to curb my hunger so as not to gain weight. Please help on the reducing the amount problem I have. Thank you. Anne Mattia
