I am taking my last does of Prednisone tomorrow and I cant wait to get off. Since I have been on it I have had rapid or flutter heart beat, insomnia and numbness in my arms and legs, and even in my face! I have read all the post here and wonder if anyone else has had the tingly "asleep feeling" limbs. I am terrified bc I am now having the signs of MS, I am hoping these are just side effects of this nasty hormone and will go away once I am weaned off of them... Anyone out there who can relate or add input?
L8308 - yes I am and I had a lot of side effects and have been on high doses and low doses for about 2-3 years now. So, it probably is a side effect just to let you know.
T_mccarthy - Yes, it is a side effect. You are NOT going crazy. I've been off it for a couple of weeks now - 10 day course. Still have muscle aches, and, sort of that feeling when you hit your funny bone, you know? The bad news is, as I have looked on this site as well as others, even short term users can have side effects anywhere from 2 weeks to 4 MONTHS. Hang in there, and remember, every day that goes by, you will get better and better. I had LOTS of side effects, and I even used it previously with NO side effects. Day by day, it gets a bit better, especially after the first week off. I hope my comments have been helpful...

Tim, my numbness and tinglness makes my limbs feel heavy and weak. Yesterday it lasted just about all day, it doent just go away like a normal limb falling asleep. Have you had that experience as well?
T_mccarthy - I've had it bad. That, back aches, like right now - that come and go, achy joints, muscles, insomnia (I take Remeron for anxiety - that puts me to sleep at night), creaks in my joints, angry moods (not violent, as others have), and MAJOR anxiety attacks - mostly in the first week. The only things that interupped my anxiety attacks were my panick attacks! Alligator skin, and a little redness around the face. Now, that's how it attacked me - where I am most susceptable. Strangely enough, I have had NO "moon face," no buffalo hump, and no weight gain - if anything I LOST weight, which is almost unheard of with Predisone. I firmly believe that these side effects do attack us where our bodies are most weak, I just didn't know I was weak in some of those places. We are just going to have to remain patient, as much as this stinks and as frustrating as we both are. Please keep me informed as to how you are doing, I wll do the same.

Do you notice the numbness and tingling being on one side of your body a majoprity of the time???? I seem to notice it being on my left side alot. I also have been experiencing the back pain that comes and goes just like you.
Have you had any MRI's or other testing done to see if maybe you have another condition/disease? I am trying to get my Dr. to make me an order for a brain MRI bc of these symptoms which scare me into thinking it could be something like MS.But you have given me some hope with your responses saying you have the same things...
T_mccarthy - Honestly, I do believe it to be the side effects. If you want to get the MRI, by all means do so. My pains move around. Today, its my back and arms. Earlier, it was my legs. It's just a big hassle right now. I want to get up and do things, then my back says not so fast....I am looking in to trying to force it out of my system. If you happen on to anything like detox type stuff, please let me know. I want to start going on the offensive now. The pain will attack you where you have the least resistance. For me, my left elbow (tendonitis 2 years ago) and my right knee (clocked it on a door recently). Side effects are like bullies - they pick on the weak.

Alc7930 - Tim I am a basket case at this point. I am worring 24/7 I had the MRI and it was negative. But I am still having numb and tingling senation in alll my limbs. Yesterday I thought it had subsided a bit till it woke me up at 4 am. I am scared outta my mind. My general Dr. says give it a month before I start to worrry a clear MRI is good news and that she thinks its the Prednisone.. I have since started getting this sensation that started as a pain in my upper neck where the skull meets the spine and it now is like a prickly feeling or a shivery like feeling... it makes my skin crawl. I am going to see a neurologist FEB 9 and hope these side effects are gone by then. Also I have been having my rt butt cheek go numb for the last 3-4 days... have you had any of this? How are you and your symptoms? How long have you been off it?
Badazgrandma - hi i have read yalls post and was wondering if your sideaffects have gone away? i have the same affects only on my left side and at no spasific time will get a slight bit dizzy.i also get very aggitated for no reason.any info would be greatly appriciated!
