MAJOR Hair Loss, Cramping, and Indigestion

I am 33 and the mother of two young children. Not wanting to get pregnant again right now and having had side effects from every BC pill I had tried, my doctor highly recommended NuvaRing. I had it in my body for 9 days. During that time, I first noticed a constant feeling of being tired. My husband and I (who run short races fairly frequently) were to run a 5 mile race and I could barely finish. I had constant cramps (even after taking 6 Motrin) like I was in early to mid labor. The indigestion I began experiencing, out of the blue, was like that of being at the end of pregnancy. I could not eat anything with out some sort of acid reflux/indigestion. My sex drive went from 0 to -5....which my doctor said that the hormones in NR would improve my sex drive. The most visibly shocking was the hair loss. I was pulling out handfuls of hair. My 3.5 year old daughter asked my husband why Mommy was losing her hair. It did begin to taper off days after taking out the NuvaRing, but I am still losing more hair than normal. When seeing my hairdresser, she immediately said that I had lost half of my normal hair and that the texture had dramatically changed (very whimpy). It has now been 2.5 months and I still have not noticed any of the hair growing back. All other symptoms immediately went away...but the hair was already gone... It is really unsettleing. There could be many worse things to happen, but going from a full head of hair to having very thin spots and having to style around them saddens me...especially with no family history of this and being a very healthy 33 year old woman. I am now taking prenatal vitamins and shampooing with Nioxin. Next week I have an appointment to have my hormone levels checked. I keep praying that at least a little grows back. I was just starting to grow the hair back in from the loss after having my now 20 month old...but handfulls plus all new growth fell out with the NR. I would tell anyone wanting to try the NR to stay very far away from it.
