Okay, I started on NR Feb 25th, 2012. (posted to a thread somewhere on here...)
Within the first two weeks I had what I thought was a yeast infection.
I had to wait to go back to my OB to figure what was wrong and by then (March 25th; another ring later) I was peeing all over myself and didn't know why. I had taken cranberry pills which had no effect.
Also, I had prior to using it, changed my diet to be healthier and of course I'm hygienic. NONE of this mattered. I ended up getting one UTI after another. I regretfully had protected/condom sex with BF and it was imaginable pain. Will never touch him again. Before, I didnt even have sex and still got it! Besides, the bleeding (which is why I was put on NR) during periods and cramps were awful. I never had any children but I'm guessing it's somewhat similar..
I am on Bactrium now and it sucks but don't have a choice. I would never go back to Depo ( weight & my poor teeth!) But what really surprised me was my doctor and pharmacist saying that the ring "doesn't cause infections"....Um...it's on the insert! I know they don't care cuz they get kick-backs...But here is what I've discovered:
NR changes the PH balance in your vagina, making you more susceptible to infection. There are people on here who've had no probs and yay for them, but most people will prob get infections. There must be a key to finding a PH balance and not getting them over and over but I don't know. I'm trying Vagisil PH and summers eve wipes. I feel like at the end of a rope and there's nothing I can afford to switch to. Maybe nothing?
Anyway, there's my 2 cents and I hope people are complaining about this and taking it to the FDA. Women need to speak up and it feels like we're being "attacked" as of late. Don't be afraid to speak up. And if your doctor says this doesn't cause infection, go somewhere else. Good Luck to you All. <3
