IM GETTING MIRENA

I have a appt. in two weeks to get the Mirena put in. Im getting it because they say it will help me ,see my periods can last from 4 days up until 45 days. I was put in the hospital because of the bleeding and the doctor said to try Mirena. I have 2 thyroid tumor that is giving me problems. So its Mirena or a Hysterectomy for me and i just turned 30 so its NOT something i want to do unless its the best chose. If anyone can help me, because after reading some blogs on this site i don't know what to do. SOMEONE ANYONE PLEASE HELP!!!

Flossii - I was 30 when I had my Mirena inserted and have now had it 18 months. It takes a good 3-6 months for you to know what your 'regular' cycle is going to be like after that. Yes you get a bit of pain and cramps for the first 7-10 days. It is bearable with normal over the counter pain relief. I have never had a child and this was no barrier to me getting the Mirena. I had VERY heavy 8-9 day periods with severe cramping. I still have monthly periods but they are light and last 4-5 days with none or very little cramping. I get spotting around 3 days a month which could be at any time. It is not major, it is a few dark spots and except for the annoyance of having my underwear stained it is managable. I am very sure that some women have had bad reactions from Mirena, otherwise there wouldn't be so many posts about these. I am also sure that there are many others that have had no problems and thus haven't actively posted on boards like these. I do so because Mirena has been great for me. If you don't like it after a couple of months, if your side effects are severe you can always have it removed. Good luck. I hope it changes your life for the better like it did mine :-)

Ibbabygirl2 - I had Mirena, but only for about 3 months; there were no adverse reactions or anything, just very sporadic bleeding at first. Give it a few months to level out before you decide - that's my best advice, hope it helps//////////////

Help4ads - i had my mirena for 3 years, with no problems.i also did not have a period for over a year. all of a sudden my body started rejecting the mirena. after about 6 months of the side effects and medical bills. i had it removed. i will say a prayer for you that you are making the right decision.

Krazymommy66 - I hope, as your message is an older one, you did not get the Mirena, my daughter had bleeding problems and they got worse after mirena, almost killed her.You are not supposed to have mirena if you have undiagnosed bleeding. But Dr's will not tell you that. they dont make money that way.
