Like many here, I had the Mirena, developed many neurological side effects (migraines, numbness/weakness, tingling, dizziness, fatigue, low libido, back pain, and depression). I had every test done to rule out MS, Guillaine Barre, etc. I was also told that Mirena was NOT the cause of my symptoms.
After a year of suffering, I finally had it removed. That was in June of 2009. Many of my symptoms slowly disappeared. BUT THE MIGRAINES AND VERTIGO NEVER WENT AWAY. I've been to multiple neurologists trying to get them under control but have not yet been successful. No one can explain to me why this didn't improve when I had it removed. One doctor offered the explanation that the hormones in the Mirena caused a certain threshold in my brain to be reached and once that occurred, the migraines were in the "on" position. She does not know if we can ever get it "off".
I AM WRITING TO FIND OUT WHETHER OR NOT ANYONE ELSE HAS HAD PERSISTENT SYMPTOMS DESPITE REMOVAL? I am now 2.5yrs without Mirena and still suffering.
Please help.
