I currently have the Mirena and I have been having some trouble. I got the mirena about 7 weeks after I had my first child so I got it in October 09. About a day or so after I got the implantation I got a period. It was a heavy menus with painful cramps. I had the period for almost a month. Then I didn't have a period for a week and began to spot all the time and have awful discharge. The spotting when on and off for a month also with the cramps. Well now its been almost four months since I've had a period. They told me I wouldn't get a period for about a month, but Im getting worried something could be wrong. I was reading and the mirena does not left off hormone, but is supposed to a barrier so the sperm does not enter into the uterus. Even though I have not been having a flow, I still get menstrual cramps all the time. It always feels like Im going to start and there is nothing when I check. I also have been having awful back cramps and pain. Im not sure if the acne has anything to do with the mirena since it doesn't let off hormones, but I have been getting it a lot now. Another thing is is my husband can feel the mirena strings when we have sex. I can't feel it though. At first I really like the mirena now Im having mixed feelings. I work at a hospital and I see patients who have the mirena who get PID. I think I may re-consider going to the shot. I know the IUD was "recalled" a few years ago for problems, what if were all gennie pigs?
