Do you people not realize how stupid you sound??? If you just got Mirena a week ago and are already wanting it out because of cramps maybe you should have listened to the doctor better when he/she said initial cramping can last for several months!! And stop saying people should not get Mirena, you unfortunate ladies are only about 6% of the women that get it! And dont even get me started on the complaints about mood changes weight gain and hair loss. Yes you all experienced those things, yes you all had mirena. But you know what else you all did? HAD BABIES!! Those are typical side effects! Seriously stop looking for something to blame for problems. YOU MAKE WOMEN LOOK BAD!
Vicikarke - Just a question. What is this forum called? (Mirena Side Effects) Who are you to come in here and call these women stupid? I have not had any kids. I just had the Mirena put in on Friday Feb. 12th and yeah it did hurt like hell putting it in. Worse pain I've had in my life and I tore my acl in my left knee and had 4 stomach surgeries because I have Endometriosis. Who are you to come on a site that wants women to describe their side effects to help others learn about theirs. I am feeling a little moody and yeah still bleeding and light cramps. I have delt with Endo Pain sense Nov. of 06 and that is why I am doing the Mirena to see if it would help me. So far I have been in less pain sense Saturday Morning and on then I have been in the past 4 years by taking other kinds of birth control. This is a site to help people, to help women and to listen. Not for someone to say SUCK IT UP! Who are you to come here and do that?! It's people like you that make me think "no wonder doctors dont really feel the need to help sometimes." If you dont have anything helpful to say I say please dont post again. Its suppose to be helpful not "you make women look bad". What the hell? Side effects are real just like the pain from Endo and my doctor diagnosed me with it and is trying to do anything to help. So why cant you? They are not looking for something to blame their problems on. Sheesh. Trying to find answers and talk with other women having the same real problems. So please if you dont have anything nice to say like your mother should have taught you then dont say anything at all. Thanks! Thats all I have to say about that.
Downhill - You obviously have far too much time on your hands to be visiting this important and helpful site with nothing much to say. Maybe with your time you could educate yourself and then come back to us and stop making yourself LOOK BAD! (Telogen Effluvium) hair loss.
Lalala - haydensmom I agree with you!! these women say omg i have weight gain blah blah and ance!! they just want to blame it on the MIrena!! its like really you just had a kid your body is changing!! its not the MIrena that makes you gain weight it's your FAT ass not doing nothing to lose the weight!!
Mirenavictym - Maybe you need to focus your time and energies on Hayden instead of searching for sites that don't pertain to you and berating the women who are seeking support. I am a Mirena VICTIM- one of the many... and I know that the Mirena is what caused the countless side effects I've experienced over the year I've had it. Find another forum to vent your frustrations of being a miserable person- why are you even here? Get yourself the Mirena and I'll see you back here in a few months with a new username and a different perspective.
Natalia89 - Why would you ever say that this makes women look bad. These are real problems and they HURT!!!! I have NEVER HAD A CHILD AND I HAVE THE SAME SIDE EFFECTS. I exercise daily, eat healthy, and am only 20 years old. The only people making women look bad on this forum, are those of you who are not willing to accept that this forum is not about you! We tell people"dont go to that asian place on the corner", "dont walk alone at night", "dont drink this juice", "Dont go to this doctor" and "dont read this book" because we didnt like what we experienced, this is even more important, this thing can change your life. The women on here are trying to warn others and trying to identify with others who have felt the pain that they have. To those of you that have been offended by others telling you that mirena isnt the problem, and that infact it is you, I am sorry that you have been disrespected!
Jdgirl127 - My youngest child is 5 almost 6 and I have only had the IUD in for 2 years this month. I think that you need to get a clue. I have had nothing but problems 5 trips to the ER because of abdominal pains, countless tests including ultrasounds and X ray it got so bad that I thought I was going nuts until I talked to other women who also had the IUD one had to have it taken out after 4 weeks because of massive hemmoriging and the other ended up with a hole in her cervix where the IUD had actually worn through her cervix and cause some major problem she may have to have a hystorectomy and she is 26 years old. SO Hayensmom you should really rethink the whole stupid coment I did a lot of resurch before I got mine I discussed several options with my doctor and we decided that the IUD was the best and safest option for me. I was wrong, and I will continue to warn everyone I know that is thinking about getting one of the side effects and possible long term complications.
Gwenniepooh - is your bitchyness a side effect of the mirena iud inside of you or are you just naturally that bitchy?? everyone is entitled to their own opinion thats why its called a forum....i have the iud...just not where its supposed to be. it preforated through my uterous and floated its way on over to the outside of my left ovary. where it has attached to tissue and ultimately becoming part of my anatomy... doctor and specialist both say to just leave it in...the side effects are still the same my son is two and i am always fatigued i have mood swings...and ive become a total bitch...so dont tell me that i sound stupid... this truly is an iud from hell.
Ebonyeyes1001 - In response to "haydensmom"...I have NEVER had children. I had my IUD placed about 3 months ago and I have had most of these side effects myself. I wish I had found this blog before I got the IUD, because I would have decided against it. But before you come off telling people how stupid they are and they should not be advising others not to get an IUD, maybe you should ask yourself what you are doing on a site specifically for people to give their insight on Mirena side effects. Do you have an IUD? If so, give your experience with it and move on. If not, get off the site! .
Yellorose5 - My youngest child is 12 years old. I got the Mirena inserted in 2005 when my youngest was 7 years old and I weighed 120 lbs, it is now 2010 and it is due to come out this June and I weigh in at 160 lbs. Prior to having the Mirena I was extremely healthy so I am living proof that all of the side effects these women are experiencing are very real and completely related to the Mirena. I too have suffered for the past 5 years with all of the numerous side effects mentioned on this website however I had no idea it was because of the Mirena because I trusted my doctor when he told me that the Mirena couldn't possibly be the cause. I am not due to get the Mirena out until this June but I am scheduling an appointment with my doctor today to get it removed. I only wish I had been informed sooner of the dangers of it because then I would have had it removed long ago. I have gained a lot of weight (I am 5'2" and usually weigh 120 lbs but after having the Mirena for the last 5 years I now weigh 160), I have severe acne (which I never had until I got the Mirena), I suffer from extreme anxiety, depression and insomnia, body aches, facial hair, night sweats, joint pain, constant cramping, exhaustion, and many other things that I never had prior to having the Mirena. For you to judge people on this website and call them "stupid" is just totally wrong and you should be ashamed of yourself. Obviously you are very ignorant yourself or you wouldn't have posted what you did.
Judy25 - My hair started falling out like crazy about a month after having a mirena inserted. My doctor said it couldn't be the Mirena. Well GUESS WHAT...after having the Mirena removed Jan. 12, 2010 my hair stopped falling out within a month!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Anyone who has experience what I went through know the emotional toll and I want to give you hope that it will stop if the Mirena was the cause.
Louisej - I think your attitude stinks, and with people like you snapping at people who are genuinely suffering its out of order. I came on this site to find out side affects and possible answers, because some doctors dont listen and think we make it all up. We do not look for anyone to blame, we just want answers and a possible cure. I had the mirena coil fitted in summer 2008 and within 3 months was diagnosed with frybromyalgia and developed severe joint pain, muscle pain and I lost my mobility at 42. I was diagnosed with arthritis. I was fit and ok before it was fitted.

Hksimon - haydensmom - are you a stockholder in Bayer AG (maker of Mirena) or an employee? If not, why are you so defensive? I, too, have never had children. I got Mirena three months ago as a form of HRT - I have gained 15 pounds, have massive bloating and urgency. I have an appointment to have it removed thei Friday and I can't wait.
My doctor also did not beleive that Mirena caused these side effects - I printed these posts out and faxed them to her. I am not a stupid women - I have a PhD and I have side effects!
En80370 - I think you should have a little more patience. I am on this site because I am & always have been a VERY fit,stable woman w/ very few medical complaints. I have four children & have maintained a very healthy body through each pregnancy & have worked hard each time to get my body "back" each time. I can rock out a bikini better than most 20 year olds. I am very well educated in nutrition & have always been an avid athlete my whole life BUT after my 4th child I needed a different form of birth control. I had a hard time finding a birth control pill that worked well for me so, the merena seemed to be the easy answer. I had it placed in October 2008...I had no cramping when placed, all seemed to be well until 9/09 when I started to experience pretty extensive lower back pain (tail bone to be exact) and I could not rid myself of the last 10 lbs of baby weight. I attributed the lack of weight loss to age & thought it would just take a little longer (39) & the back pain to my work-outs & just forged forward. For the last few months I decided enough was enough & amped up my work-outs & tweeked my already tweeked diet, I eat very clean & w/in the acceptable calorie intake for someone who burns the calories that I burn...I am a runner & crossfitter so I burn extensively...the scale has not moved even a little bit & I have a layer of fat on my abdomin that I can draw a marker around....I know my body well, this is not normal for me & I cannot eat any less than I am eating & I cannot run anymore, as I mentioned, I have been fit my entire life, I expect things to get more difficult as age goes on but this is just beyond that & i am exhausted most afternoons...this is something else...after reading all of these posts, I am convinced that it's the merena. I have placed a call to my mid-wife to have it removed, if any of you ladies can recommend a pill that has worked well for you I would really appreciate it. It's important that we post our issues w/ any medical product...even if it's only 10 % of the women that experience it, when you think about it, 10 % is pretty significant...1 out of 10.....thanks for the posts
Tarrenitup1 - Lady you need to pull your head out of where of what over its up and think about what you are saying.... everyone is different.. every can't take the same medication or whatever because the "EXPERTS" say it should work for us. if it has worked for you koudos for you. thats awesome. I am happy that you havent had some weird mood change all of a sudden. started haveing bald spots. bleeding gums. severe back pain. abdominal pain. all of witch is not the normal aches and pains associated with pms or pregnancy. this is severe..I am glad that things are well for you. but for many other women that ARE IN PAIN. ARE IN SEVER PAIN. ARE SOMETHING IS CAUSENIG THAT PAIN. SHUT YOUR HOLE.............

hmmm. my mouth hurts and my gums bleed. my lower back and legs are just killing me. i am trying to chase a 2 year old and take care of a 4 month old and i would just like to climb under a rock and kill myself. does that sound normal to you.??????? i have been on antidepressants since dec as well just for good mesure. since i had post pardom with my first child but this is far beyond that. this is like if anyone gets near me. you they should all do fffff---- themselves is that normal to? Bikerchick - Obviously you don't have any side effects with Mirena. So what are you doing on this blog to begin with?
My children are 19 and 17 years old. I hardly think that childbirth has anything to do with it. I run two half marathons a year. I hike once or twice a month besides running 6 times a week and I'm not talking about short distance running my friend.
I have a painful cyst in my breast, have gained about 10 pounds, have strange cravings for sweets that I have never had before in my life and none of my clothes fit me comfortable anymore. I'm very bloated, matter of fact I look like I did when I was about 5 month pregnant.
Funny thing is I wasn't complaining but just reading up on other people's experience.
Then I saw your post, at first I got a little offended by your remarks but now I just feel sorry for you.
Please seek help! You must have some sort of issues to go on this side and start stirring up stuff. Again what are you doing on this side? Maybe you need start looking at yourself. How about get a job. Get a life.

Selahpoetic - Wow...you sound really angry. you sure thats not the Mirena typing? These women are just posting their genuine concern about the side effects they have due to this form of birth control. Yea they had babies...we've all had babies that we chose to have. There's no crime in that. but we should not have to go through outragious side effects just because we dont want anymore kids at this time. You need to take some type of anti-anger medication or have a drink or something! Jesus!
P.S...Ladies I've had the same symptoms you've had with the IUD and mine is being removed this week. I'm glad its not just me!
Mkmartin05 - I agree with this post.I have never had kids before so I had gotten the IUD not realizing how much the pain was going to be.It hurt putting it in and i hardly walked that day.I took some ibuprofen and took a nap and felt better.When I got my period 3 months after, I thought I was GOING TO DIE!!! i bled for 3 weeks in pain.But my friends who have had it in for 3 years told me to hang on.I stopped my period by the 6th month started exercising and eating healthy so I don't blame Mirena for my problems. Anyways it has been 2 years and I am PROUD to say that I am HAPPY that I never got it taken out....and oh yeah I am also PROUD that I DON'T BLAME Mirena for my problems!!
Aydanstanleysmom - I have had mirena since april 09 after haven my son in feb 09.. an ive not had any problems but a couple and its been recent.. i never bled until less than a month ago an i was sent to the er bc of chills and sweat kinda like i was going into shock from abdominal pains i was really concerned.. after they morphined me up they told me it was just a period sent me home with some tabs and told me to just take those if i feel any more pain and follow up with my doctor.. well i didnt bc i dont have insuarance no more and my period came and went.. now im haven a regular period every month.. this sucks bc ive been since april 09 with out one and i was so happy not to get a period.. other than that i love my mirena and have no other problems..
