This was a post from a lawyer back in April 2006 that I found. Please read:

back in the 80's and 90's, some IUD failed as well, causing sickness to many women. They settled but it was an extreme case of absolute malfunction. Since then, these types of lawsuits don't really go anywhere. I think they are stupid! No one listens about this Mirena being so terrible. I have been searching and have not found anything yet. I'm glad I took it out but I have to recuperate. I should not have to be recuperating from anything.
Anyone found anything on a class action suit???

Nyrek - As expected, the link was deleted...but not before I copied it! So thanks! I sent an e-mail to the attorney and they responded within 2 days. They forwarded me wto forms via e-mail...one is a release to authorize them to be my attorneys for the suit...the second was a form where I had to fill in the information about my expereince, date inserted and removed, side effects I had known about prior to insertion, acutal side effects experienced, out of pocket costs, what insurance paid...the works. So I just got that in the mail back to them today, but it is legit! Good luck to you!

Miller4206 - I currently have the Mirena IUD. I have been having many of the same symptoms that all of you have had. I went to the Dr last this past tuesday and they informed me that there was not string. They brought in another Dr. who proceeded to look for it and found out that it was not there. Now I have to have CAT Scan to locate it and then have surgery to have it removed. So this "BIRTH CONTROL" is not working and they think that it maybe in my abdomen. So not only is it not protecting me from getting pregant it has caused us to have to pay for a surgery. I would tell anyone who has this to have it removed. this is not a safe way to protect against pregnancy. They are rushing the surgery because if in stay in my abdomen it can cause an infection that would be had to treat. So I beg anyone who is thinking about this as an option to try something else. I would love to talk to a attorney and see if Mirena would be responsible for all the additional costs. So if anyone knows please contact me
