I decided to be treated with radiation seed theraphy, my SOB oncologist prescribed in 12/2000 a 3 month injection of Lupron, at that time I was being treated for a herniated disc and was in severe pain. The SOB never told me what the side effects would be and soon I not only was unable to sleep because of the back pain but I began having hot flashes and intense sweating not only at night but thru out the day. The night sweats continued for more than 6 months. I rec'd the similiar rational for the Lupron Injection, that it would reduce the size of my prostate to make the seed theraphy more effective. I subsequently learned that Lupron was available in pill form and to this day I cannot understand why in a situation that you do not know how the patient would react to Lupron would not a prescription for pills be a more intelligent and humane way to treat a paitient that has other medical problems. I was diagnosed with CMML/MDS in 1/2008 with symptoms of low blood platelets and low white and red blood cells. I have come to a conclusion that the medical profession utilizes drugs and treatments that lead to additional severe medical problems.
