FINALLY! I am also experiencing hair loss, hair breakage, my blond hair is turning RED, and when it's wet after thoroughly washing it, it absolutely WREAKS of chemicals! My hematologist also swears that it's not because of the Lovenox-my hair stylist agrees with me, that it IS the Lovenox because nothing else has changed in my lifestyle. I think we should do a class action law suit since it's not listed on the Lovenox.com website as a possible side effect!
Ellaclark - I am having the same side effects...there has got to be an alternative medicine we xan take. I have been researching but my doctor is afraid to do anything but drugs.
Akl41 - I've now been finally off the Lovenox for about 4 months now. My hair has stopped breaking (thank God), and the chemical smell is finally gone, however all the blonde hair is also gone since my hair stylist has refused to do anything to it for the last 3 visits, besides giving it a good hair cut. I've been on Coumadin now with initial hair loss (not breakage or chemical smell) but the hair loss has also stopped. Now just waiting for it to keep on growing. Try taking Biotin Forte 5mg for your hair. Also, keep conditioning your hair all the time!
There is no "natural" substitute that you can take. Ask your Doctor if you an try Fragimin or Coumadin. Good luck!
Jkw0221 - I was on Lovenox for 5 months following a vascular surgery. I am 31 years old. I did not problems with hair loss while I was taking it. However, I have been off the medicine for about 3 weeks. About ten days ago, I noticed an increased amount of hair loss. Now the hair loss has increased to an alarming rate. I am trying the moisturizing and biotin options, but so far no help. If anyone has received medical recommendations, they would be appreciated.
Apl_rick - As a leukemia patient, I have experienced plenty of hair loss (complete loss twice and heavy loss on and off). Lovenox saves your life and side effects are to be expected. I have sympathy, but must in all honesty must say ... Get over it. A class action lawsuit for a vanity issue that is temporary at best??? I am on Lovenox and have been for a year now.
One old time survivor told me "Sure I have issues! Sure I have complaints! To have these, I must be alive so therefore I am blessed!
I say again, get over the minor stuff and be thankful for being able to have "issues"!!
