Loestrin 24 Fe Class Action Lawsuit, Loestrin 24, Blood Clots, 9 Months, Lungs
Posted over a year ago
I was on Loestrin 24 for 9 months and thought it was wonderful....until I was recently hospitalized for 2 weeks with blood clots in both lungs. The doctors determined that it was the Loestrin. If anyone knows of a class action lawsuit against them, please let me know.
Axo96 - My doctor just put me on Loestrin24fe. I had no idea about this blood clot issue. Are you sure it was the Loestrin? Did you have any symptoms before you were hospitalized? Do you smoke?
Don506 - My cousin had stroke from clots in the brain. I am currently looking for a good law firm to represent her. Could I have more details on your situation?
Don Weber dxewbr1@aol.com
Ajeco1 - Last October(2008), I was also hospitalized with bilateral lung clots due to Loestrin. I have never smoked. After months of Coumadin therapy and repeat scans, I have only one small residual spot from a clot.
Anabel617 - I just got out of the hospital yesterday for two blood clots in my lungs. The doctors said they were caused by Loestrin 24Fe. I do not smoke. I do not have a family history of blood clotting disorders. I had no other symptoms related to the blood clots. I had only been taking Loestrin for about 5 months. I was hesitant to start the medication, but my doctor assured me it was safe and said it was the best choice for me. I am worried about what will happen with these clots and the possibility of recurrent clots. I'm wondering how everybody here who had blood clots from Loestrin is doing now?
Shack325 - I was on Loestrin 24 for 2 months and was hospitalized for a week with several blood clots in both lungs. I was diagnosed with pulmonary embolism and the doctors said the pill caused it. I do not smoke, have no history of clots and am in great physical condition. I now have to take blood thinners for at least 6 months to make sure that I do not get more clots. My husband and I were planning on starting a family very soon and we can not now due to the fact that the blood thinners cause birth defects. Not to mention that this all occurred one week before our wedding and I almost missed it due to being in the hospital. I am also looking for information that anyone might have on a class action lawsuit against them.
Law05004 - I was on Ortho Trinessa for 6 years straight and had absolutely no problems with it until the last year when my period began running really long and heavy again (about 8 days long), so I told my OB about this and she recommended Loestrin 24Fe to me. I was reluctant to take it because it seemed like such a new medication, that the results of it hadn't come out yet and I knew that it worked differently than the Ortho Trinessa, which made me uneasy because I've had reactions to medication before (klonapin and effexor - they're unrelated but my body doesn't seem to be able to take much). So I'm on my 3rd month now and I am still paranoid about taking it, and after reading all of this I think I might just go off it. I was aware of all of the side effects of birth control to begin with, but after just doing a simple google search of 'birth control lawsuits' it seems like all of the new birth controls would pop up.
Does anyone know if you can just come off of birth control after almost 7 years of taking it? I was also wondering what the ages of everyone that got the blood clots were? I'm 23 and I think they say after 35 that it becomes alot more likely to get blood clots and heart disease.
Dhusky - I used to be on a generic brand of birth control in which I got my period for 3 out of the 4 weeks. It was horrible, so I told my doctor and she recommended taking Loestrin24. I started taking it in September of 2008. I didn't get my period ever since I started taking Loestrin (for about 9 months.) Then, in April 2009, I had the worst headache I have ever had and I started throwing up. I was sent to get a CAT scan. Later on my doctor called me and told me to immediately go to the emergency because I had a blood clot in my brain called cerebral venous thrombosis. The picture of my MRI showed that the right side of my brain had all these white branches all over, which was good and showed the blood flowing through my brain. The left side of my brain was completely black, totally clotted. And I am only 18 years old, and like I said before, I have never smoked before. I have heard about the lawsuits for Yaz and I was wondering if there were any for Loestrin?
Rochel07 - Oh My Goodness! My doctor prescribed Loestrin 24 to control my endometrisis, but after what I read here, i don't think I will take it.
H2121 - I also was on Loestrin 24 for three months I developed a DVT blood clot in my leg and was in the hospital for 6 days while in there I had a PE in my lung and the Doctors said it was the birth control. It has now been 11 months since I have been out and I still cant do the things I used to my leg just wont let me, Stairs hurt really bad and it makes me so sad. All I hear about is the law suit with Yaz but what about Loestrin 24?
Pittsaroo - My sister was on Loestrin for many years. She fractured her foot and and within 3 months she died from a PE. Don't know if the Loestrin caused it or what. The autoposy report stated that there were many blood clots in her leg. She never smoked and was in the military so she was pretty active.
Athinasunshine - I was taking Loestrin for 4 years and loved it until I had a massive stroke in 2007when I was 27! it totaly paralyzed the left side of my body. I never smoked ate right and worked out regularly. I am slowly recovering but still don't have functional use of my arm! this has been a rough2 years to say the least! I thought this was supposed to be a safer choice in b.c. pills...guess not!
I am also looking for a lawsuit I'll help you if you help me!
Athinasunshine - I had a massive stroke at 27 after taking loestrin for 4 years(blood clot to the brain) I never smoked, ate right, worked out regularly etc. The stroke totaly paralyzed the left side of my body. I am now able to walk again with a very bad "limp" and I don't have functional use of my arm. doctors say "good luck"! I am still devastated and hope this doesn't happen to anyone else! terrible affect for someone who was being responsible. I'm hoping there is some sort of lawsuit that turns up! let me know
Mchardwy - I'm 25 and I had a stroke while on Loestrin for about a year. I finally can walk without aide, but my arm is not functional. I was wondering about the law suite since all the others are on t.v. I'm talking to a lawyer now since my case is still new.
Diamond2009 - I was on Loestrini 24 for 6 months. I too suffered from deep vein thrombosus in whicih I experienced some of the worst pain of my life. I was on blood thinners for another seven months after my two weeks in the hospital. I believe it is only a matter of time before a lawsuit comes forth. I will keep checking back for updates.
Acthome - I was on Loestrin 24 for 2 months. I started it in November and in mid January I went to the hospital for not being able to breathe they said it was allergies or asthma and sent me home with an inhaler, the next day I had severe pain under my arm and it went to my back and also came around to my chest, so i went back to the hospital, they did a cat scan and discovered I had blood clots on both my lungs, the right side was worse then the left and I was told if I had waited any longer they probably would have traveled to my heart or brain, the ER nurses words were "glad you came back if you didn't it wouldn't have been good." I was at the time 21 and the only history of blood clots is my grandma in her legs I was hospitlized for 5 days and on coumadin for a little over a year. If there is any kind of pending lawsuit against them please let me know. If YAZ can have a lawsuit I think we should be able to...does someone need to die from this before they bring a suit against them?????
Pochantas1205 - my seventeen year older was put on loestrin about 2 months ago. she started having chest pain and faces gallbladder surgery. her lungs hurt.
Michelle01 - I was on Loestrin 24 for 1 1/2 years and I too was active and no signs of blood clots in my family and I didnt have any systoms except i thought i had bronchitis, which was not the case. They did a CT scan on my lungs and found I had PE as well. I hope I can find a way to make them be held accountable for this. This has changed my life so much and have so much aniexty and depression from this. Someone needs to take action and I hope to find a way to do so... For everyone who has had this I feel your pain and hope people will read this and not take Loestrin 24 I almost lost my life because of it....
Tennisgirl23 - How were the lung clots diagnosed? My daughter was starting her third month of loestrin 24 and has been to the ER twice and the doctor twice. She is dizzy and short of breath. She had a CT of her brain which did not show anything and her blood work did not show signs of clotting but they did not do a chest CT. I wonder.. any help?
Alicia1234 - I am 24 years old and took the depo shot for 6 years and was told by my obgyn that i need to get off it, so she said that loestrin was the best birthcontrol to swith too. well that didnt work out so well for me... after 4 weeks of loestrin i landed in the hospital for a week and a half with a blood clot in my brian and bleeding. i was on coumadin for 7 months. now i have a whole new list of things to worry about.. If you or anyone you know is on loestrin please get off, its not worth the risks.. any news on lawsuits??
Jennw - I'm 41 and had taken other pills in my twenties but had been off them for almost ten years. My new GYN found benign fibroid tumors and recommended that I go on the pill until menopause to keep them from growing. I had concerns because of my age, but agreed to Loestrin24FE because she said it was the best option. 6 weeks later I was in the ER with a DVT in my leg and will be on Coumadin for the next six months. I was lucky that it didn't go to my lungs before I figured out what the leg pain could be and called my primary care doctor. There is obviously something wrong with this pill, judging by the stories above. A DVT in only 6 weeks in my case. This medication needs to be removed from the market until these claims have been investigated, and a lawsuit could do that.
Whikey89 - I was on Loestrin 24 for a year and a half with no issues. I was healthy and had no other health problems. I went to the ER on March 30, 2009 and I was diagnosed with a heart attack and they also diagnosed me with a mild stroke at the same time. The stroke had happened December 2008. The hospital told me that it was due to my birth control. The doctors wanted to confirm it and went to the point of even sending me to Minnesota to see the Mayo Clinic. They came to the same conclusion. I was 20 years old. If anyone hears of a lawsuit I would like to know also!!
Samsmom89 - My 20 year old daughter went on Loestrin to ease her periods. After just two months she was in the hospital with a blood clot (DVT) in her leg. The doctors determined it was caused by the birth control. She is a normal active 20 year old, who doesn't smoke and there is no family history of blood clots. After 5 days in the hospital, she came home but will be on coumadin for at least 6 months to a year and she still cannot do everything she could before. I know there is a lawsuit against Yaz, but what about Loestrin? If anyone hears anything please let us know.
Tennisgirl23 - My daughter is 20 and has been to the ER twice and had a CT and echocardiogram with negative results! She had just started her third month of Loestrin 24. Her complaints that have taken us to the hospital are dizziness or light headed and shortness of breath. Just went to ENT yesterday who said her ears are fine! How are the DVTs diagonosed?? She quit taking the Loestrin 24 about 8 days ago
Cms - I was on loestrin24 for about 5-6 weeks and wound up with severe pulmonary embolisms in both lungs. The doctors say I am lucky to be alive. To other posters who want to know how they are diagnosed - yes, you have to have a CT scan of the lungs to find them. They ultrasounded my right calf on the venous unit and found I had 2 DVTs. I have no history of blood clots in my family and never had issues with birth control or female hormones before this either. If anyone hears of a lawsuit, I would definitely be interested.
Hollywood9497 - i was on ortho tri nessa for about a month and a half. i hve never smoked, was pretty active, and am 35. i went to the dr bc i was having shortness of breath, for 3 days, and couldnt lie flat. i slept almost sitting up for 3 days. finally i went to the dr, she told me in the office, we're calling the ambulance to take u to the er. i think you might a blood clot. i refused an ambulance bc i didnt like the nearest hosp, so i drove myslef to the hosp. i was diagnosed with a PE. it started in my right calf, and traveled to my left lung. the end of arpil(2010) will b 1 yr. till this day, i get out of breath very easily. when u hve a PE part of that lung dies, and will nvr come back. i too was on coumadin for about 6 months. This was the first time i had ever been on any form of birth control. i too am looking for any lawsuits out there for ortho tri nessa.
Steelpride - My wife also had a blood clot from this loestrin 24 Fe sounds like something needs to be done about this birth control pill. If anyone knows of any lawsuits pertaining to this let us know, my wife was in the emergency room basically giving birth to a blood cot. My email is tonysteelpro@yahoo.com
Estrawn21 - I was hospitalized in the ICU for a week this summer with a massive blood clot in my leg that ranged from my lower left hip to my belly button. I was fortunate enough that it did not break into my lungs nor did I have to get a stent; however, I was also on Loestrin. I was on that pill for 2 months. I am an active, non smoking, and healthy 22 year old and this happened to me. Additionally, I am going to try to begin the process of a lawsuit. If anyone has any information about a lawsuit in regards to Loestrin, please let me know.
Kthomsen15 - I was diagnosed about a year ago with a DVT and pulmonary embolism from Loestrin 24! we should get together and file a class action lawsuit against the company! I'm still taking coumadin for the clot! This is so not cool!
Slholmes - I took Loestrin 24 for a year and a half..I didn't smoke and work-out on a regular basis and I developed a DVT in my right leg..I had a ct done and had clot in both legs and arms and a small clot in my head. I'm only 26 yrs old and I've been on coumadin for the pass 7months. Medical bills are kicking my ass! I'm also looking for a lawyer that deals with class action law suits. If anyone know one plz email me.
Coogs - I don't have clotting issues that I know of, but I am wondering if anyone else has this problem. I took Loestrin for about 2 years and my period went away. The doc said this was normal, but when I quit Loestrin, it never returned. It has been about a year and a half, and my husband and I are unable to have children without very expensive intervention. Anyone else?
Lvd - I am in the hospital with my sister, 34, and she is in ICU with blood clots in both lungs and legs. They have not concluded yet, but are suspect that it is from loestrin.
Nreid - I am 37 and my ob/gyn placed me on Loestrin 24 becuase of my cycle being irregular...I have never had any clotting, I do not smoke at all...After 1.5 months on these birth control pills, I had a very intense pain in my left leg....I went to the emergency and it was x-rayed....I was admitted into the hospital that day....I had DVT...I stayed there for 6 days, and was off my job for another 2.5 weeks......Its been 4 months and I am still on Coumidin....my doctor stated I will continue on it for about another 4-5 months....Its very scary......My husband and I wanted to try having a baby and we were told to forget about it right now.......We Need a Lawsuit to began now......I am gonna do more research..

Dottyh21212 - I am 34 years old with no history of blood clots and was hospitalized for 2 weeks due to pulmonary embolism( I have multiple blood clots in both lungs). I was on Loestrin 24 FE for 2 months before having to be rushed to the emergency room. I do not smoke or drink, my husband and I need a lawyer that can handle this situation! Please Help!!!!!!
Sospoileddatsme - Good Morning,
This has been a harmonious finding because NOW I know I'm not alone. I went to my OB/GYN for my annual because I have a severe case of irregular periods. The Doctor gave me Loestrin 24, I was very hesitant about taking the pills but I thought what the heck. After three weeks of taking the bc, I had shortness of breathe, fatigue and loss of appetite. I started having sharp pains on my right side, shooting down to my leg. I started screaming and yelling for my mother. I told her that my arm was tingling like I was losing feeling in it and my heart is beating rapidly. We rushed to the hospital here in Las Vegas. The ER admitted me and stated that I needed a blood transfusion because my count was a 7 when it should be a 13, I didn't even know I was anemic until I went to the ER. They gave me meds to slow down my heart rate and I had a CT scan. The Doctor informed me that she was going to admit me into the hospital for observation, It was very uncomfortable to lay down or sit up or even talk cause of the pain. Finally the Doctor informed me that I had blood clots in my lungs which is a pulmonary embolism. All of this was happening to me a week before my 22nd birthday. They ran so many test and poked and probed me, not knowing where exactly what caused the clots. Until finally he asked me if I was taking birth control, he told me to stop taking the pills immediately and thats what caused the problem. I was hospitalized for a week and then home care for another week because my blood wasnt thinning out enough and they wanted to keep me under close watch because the clots were still causing low blood flow to my heart. I would LOVE TO SUE THE DOG SHICACA out of these people. But I'm most importantly blessed to be able to still walk this earth. I'm going with a Lawyer here in Vegas and seeing whats going to happen from there. They said they will take the case. So Let's see where this is going to go. I will keep you all posted. 9.28.08 will always be forever etched in my mind because thats the day I almost lost my life to a medication that is suppose to aid in mother nature.
Que - i was on loestrin for a month and half when i was diagnosed with a blood clot in my lung. We should start our own class action law suit!
H2121 - I also was on Loestrin 24 and suffered a massive blood clot in my leg (DVT) and it went to my lung (PE) all because of this birth control.
7mile - I was given free samples by my doctor for Loestrin 24 FE and hadn't even finished my first pack before having to be rushed to the ER because I couldn't breathe. I was hunched over because my body was using oxygen from my muscles. Luckily, the ER doctor correctly diagnosed me because I mentioned the Pill. For 2 weeks prior, I had bad pain in my calf, but it felt like I just did too much calf exercises in the gym. Well, the pain was DVT that went to my lungs. My left lung is the worst, suffering a PE and I was in the hospital 6 days, 4 of them in ICU. Luckily, they traveled via smaller veins and due to a great ER doctor, I am still here. I will be on Coumadin for 6 months :( Wish you ladies a complete recovery..... this sucks - not to mention very scary!
Srobins - Had severe pain and swelling in my lower right leg. Checked myself in at the hospital and was diagnosed with thrombophlebitis. It has been a week and the pain in my leg is still horrible. I elevate my leg whenever I can get the chance and apply warm heat to my veins. I also have pain in my left arm and hand. I'm sure it is due to clotting also. I was put on Loestrin 24FE in May of this year. Shortly thereafter I started having pain in my calf and I also thought because I was "out of shape" and "over exercised" it. This stuff needs pulled from the shelves.
Bmoore - I had two blood clots in my right lung and dvt in my entire upper left thigh. I was on loestrin 24 for less than two months and all of this hit me. They ran test after test looking for family history and found nothing. I stayed in the hospital for a little over a week, three weeks after being released I had to have emergency gallbladder surgery. I will be on blood thinners a year in May and I still can't ware shorts or capris due to embarrassment because my left leg is still swollen.
Gypsygirl - I developed multiple bilateral PE's after a year on Loestrin 24Fe. I was 25 at the time (2 years ago) and otherwise healthy, in good physical shape, non-smoker, no high blood pressure or anything. I went to the ER after about 3 weeks of slowly growing symptoms - shortness of breath, heart palpitations, and slight chest pain - all of which I assumed to be anxiety-related. I have a history of anxiety and panic attacks which is why I put off medical attention so long, but exercise usually relieves stress and I was unable to stand 5 minutes of my usual workout routine. They found multiple PE's in both of my lungs which developed from a DVT in my leg (that went unnoticed - no pain or leg swelling or anything). I spent 18 months on Warfarin (blood thinners) and had to give myself Lovenox injections in the stomach on a few occasions. (I was also hospitalized for a week due to serious bleeding that I developed as a result of the blood thinners). Needless to say, it was a rough year and a half. I could have prevented it if I had just not take the Loestrin - I had a full blood workup done when I finally came off of the warfarinI and they determined no predisposition for the clots. I was negative for the Liden Factor 5 gene, C and S proteins were normal. etc. My doctors concluded the only causing factor was the oral contraceptive. I am just lucky that it was caught.
Emma_leigh - I had been taking Loestrin 24 for 6 months and was recently hospitalized with double Pulmonary embolism and doctors attributed the formation of the clots based on 2 factors - the birth control and/or a long road trip (immobilization) I took the week before Christmas. It is interesting to hear that so many women who have taken Loestrin 24 have also had the same experience. Scary, wasn't it? I'm grateful to be alive, but would like to know more about the stats involving the birth control pill. This has impacted my life greatly, and it's also nice to read similar stories. (I am a 25 yr old non-smoker in otherwise good health)
Sek112981 - I am a 29 yr. old and healthy. I go to the gym 4-6x/wk. I'm a non-smoker. I was on Loestrin 24 for about 5 years. I had also been seing a cardiologist for about 2 years, because I have many extra heartbeats. A few months ago, my heart palpitations worsened and I thought it was due to my heart condition. I also started running out of breath. I couldn't walk far distances, maybe a few feet before it felt like I had ran a marathon. I couldn't even get through a conversation with someone before running out of breath. I carried on as best I could, but I went to work one day and almost passed out in my classroom. I made it to the the nurse's office and a co-worker drove me to the ER. They did a test and sent me for a CT scan. Turns out I had sub-massive PE, the main arteries in both lungs were badly blocked. I was in the hospital for a week. The ICU doctor told me that this could end very badly for me. They gave me a clot buster (TPA) which is risky, but it probably saved my life. I am currently on blood thinners and will be for a few more months before getting blood tests to determine the cause. My pulmonologist said the most likely cause was the bcp. The doctors said I was not symptomatic except for shortness of breath and I am extremely lucky I went to the hospital that day and I am forever in gratitude to my wonderful doctors. Please be careful if you are taking this bcp.
River1 - Did anyone ever find a class action against Loestrin 24????? I got severe blood clots too and never smoked. I have permanent damage.
River1 - Did any of you ever find an attorney to sue against Loestrin Fe 24? How do you find an attorney for a case like this?
Cparris78 - would also like to know if anyone found out about a class action against Loestrin 24. I also had several blood clots in several veins in my leg. This happened to me last yr when i was 31 i'm also a non-smoker. I now have permanent damage to the valves in my leg, my blood doesnt flow properly anymore & this cause swelling, color change, numbness, & very painful.
Sek112981 - really most kinds of birth control have the risk of forming blood clots, i believe it is actually stated on the info in the package as well as on their website. it is a take at your own risk pill, but the percentage of people who develop clots is low. just be careful and watch for any symptoms like the ones that you read here. i knew the risks but since i have not family histories of blood clots i thought i would be fine. i was wrong.
Sek112981 - at the er, they did blood tests and the a ct scan, found out immediately. i know you posted over a year ago, hope everything turned out alright!
Jillac - Has anyone had problems with anxiety, depression, sleeplessness, suicidal thoughts, etc on this pill? My daughter (17) has been on this pill for 1 month and it had turned her into a completely different person. She has gone from a very independant teenager to sleeping with me every night. Crying all of the time, can't sleep, anxiety about not sleeping, completely thinking she is going crazy. Thoughts of suicide have entered her mind. She has gone off the pill now but isn't getting any better. It seems like if this drug doesn't kill you, it makes you want to be. I want my happy daughter back! This drug needs to be taken off the market and anyone filing a class action lawsuit please contact me. designbuildbyjill@gmail.com
Jmariep - Hello, I just turned 25, nonsmoker with no history of blood clots. After two months of being on Loestrin, I was diagnoised with multiple blood clots in my lungs. I was hospitalized for 8 days and have suffered and continue to suffer. I would like to be apart of a class action lawsuit if one is started. My email is:
jmp12210@hotmail.com
Lro263 - I'm desperately trying to find out how people with these problems turned out - who diagnosed them correctly; did they recover; how are they now; what was the diagnosis. I started Loestrin in May 2010. On July 4, I was fine. On July 5, I could hardly stand, the pain in my muscles was so bad. Every muscle in my upper legs that it takes to sit, stand, or raise my legs hurt so bad that sometimes I have to have help standing. I never smoked and am otherwise healthy. I also have pain in the center and to the left of my spine and across my back shoulder muscles and in my forearms - cannot raise my arms completely. I discontinued Loestrin in January 2011. The doctors don't know what it is. They are leaning toward myositis. I don't believe it - after reading all of these things, I am convinced that Loestrin caused this - but what is it that we have because of this drug? My lab work is out of wack. They want to do a NCS, MRI, and muscle biopsy. I have not done any of those yet - don't know what to do. I don't want to go through needless, painful tests if they're not necessary. I'm going today to try once more to discuss this with my doctor. I'm considering having my records sent to Vanderbilt to see if any of those doctors know anything about this. Has anyone seen anything posted about anyone's outcomes from all of this?
Lups_verdhandi - I was on Loestrin 24 too, as many of us...Im in treatment right now, I´m so sad, for not have enogh money to cover my medicine, Lovenox shots are so expensive, and I´m in Coumadin too..
Lups_verdhandi - Hope can I said it in spanish and english!
I'm just 21, had two kids, the little one is just 10 months... after I had him, my OB told me that Loestrin 24 will be the best option to prevent a pregnacy, I do not smoke, active and till two weeks so healthy. I had to go to ER because swalling and pain in one leg, was a blood clot...cause, the birth control pills... Now Im in treatment with Lovenox shots and Coumadin pills. Right now I have to keep going with the shots, that they are expensive for me, and dont have money to cover the prescription... if anyone know something to do againts them (Loestrin 24) please send me info to my mail (rizo_chiquita@hotmail.com or marck_eden@hotmail.com)
THANKS FOR YOUR HELP....GRACIAS POR SU AYUDA
Jessicaruibal - I was on it for twelve days and experienced severe panic attacks also ...this medication is BAD BAD !!!!!!!
Greekgoddess - I'm sitting in the hospital right now (April 22, 2011) and I have been here for 3 days with massive clotting in both of my lungs. The pain is unbearable. I don't smoke and I just turned 23. I have never taken birth control before I started Loestrin 24 two months ago. The doctor here told me that taking that medication put me here. I hope I can get out of the hospital before Easter.
Aerokorngal - Is it possible that I could be suffering permanent damage myself from this horrible poison? I'm on blood pressure medicine now, 2.5 mg of Amlodipine, after having it taken down from 10 and then 5 to where it is now. I took Triphasil for eight years, 1986-1994, and then felt I was getting weird feelings from that, and asked to be put on something lighter, Loestrin of which I was told was the answer, took it from then to 2005 when I thought that might have been starting to do me in, cause me to feel funny, out of breath and panicky, even after sleeping all night, dizzy and on and on For a while there, if it had anything to do with not working and rushing to a job for the past month, I was all right, even after numerous trips to the doctor, emergency room, and so on. I seem to get a spike in my blood pressure during my period and am perimenopausal too on top of it. Now my period lasted ten days the last go round, just finished up about two days ago for this month, and still feel rotten, dizzy on and off, sometimes headachy, blinking painfully at light on and off, chilly, quick heartbeat, headachy, hard to catch breath, and list goes on, on and off at various times. I'm tired of going to see people about it. Anyway, I wish I hadn't let a nasty ex-boyfriend force me to use birth control pills years ago. If he hadn't, maybe I'd have gone ahead and used 'em down the line anyway, but still. . .Anyway, April 4 I had my physical checkup. Blood pressure was "perfect" at that time, according to what GP said. Was happy to hear that that was the case and asked about a drug holiday from blood pressure meds. Don't know if it was or wasn't a good idea to not try going without for a week and a half, but am trying acupucture and/or herbal stuff, more expensive though it is, to see what else could be done to make me feel better. Have been crying a lot, and on and off have gone to the doctor and/or ER to get tests done of different types. In March I went to my gyn, and I was given an annual iron test. Showed I'm not anemic as far as the chilliness went. Random glucose blood test showed I'm not diabetic. Between early April and about a week ago, I was doing much better and pressure down to a dull road, but not TOO dull! And not only that, but I inquired at the annual physical an EKG. It came out fine. But I feel terrible, and I am crying again; I'm so upset. I don't want to die, and my birthday is today!:(
Homeopath - I was prescribed Loestrin 24 in October of 2010. This past Memorial Day weekend (5/28/2011) I drove myself to the hospital with shortness of breath and was diagnosed with a pulmonary embolism. I was told I had multiple blood clots in both lungs. When I pressed days later to see exactly how many blood clots, the doctor told me there were "too many to count". I am also on blood thinners (1 which needs to be administerted in the stomach via needle twice a day) Thank God we all survived to make these posts. I plan to pursue litigation.
Kim8139 - On June 26, 2010, I was also diagnosed with a pulmonary embolism. I had a large clot called saddle PE in both lungs. I was only on Loestrin 24 for 6 months. I worked out three times a week and never been sick. I am on blood thinners for the rest of my life. I am thinking about filing a suit. If anyone interested send me an email kim8139@gmail.com.
Cc - This is a very shocking thread to read... I had to have my gall bladder out last year and I'm certain it's linked to this pill... I was surprised to read about the additional blood clotting issues. I actually stopped taking any form of chemical bcp after that experience and switched to a copper IUD.
If anyone knows about loestrin and gall bladder issues and had a similar experience, please email me at livingprint@gmail.com to discuss further.
Kim8139 - If anyone knows an attorney are willing to take their suit. Please let me know. I have called several attorneys and I am not having any luck.
Akruger81 - I started loestrin in april 2010 after my son was born. I was having shortness of breath and a stabbing pain in my back where i couldnt breathe so i went to the er. I was found to have multiple blood clots in both lungs. One was so big it cut off part of my lung and it may be permanently dead. I also developed severe pneumonia. All of this was caused by loestrin. I spent two weeks in the hospital. Can never take the pill again and will spend the rest of my life on blood thinners. I may also be looking at surgery to remove part of my lung. I want to sue them.
Kim8139 - Akruger81. I am so sorry that happened to you. I called an atorney to see if he will take my case. I hope to hear from him today. I hope everyone keeps writing what happen to them so we can have a lawsuit. I am going to show the attorney this website. Kym
Kgetter - Hello all! I was diagnosed with pulmonary embolism June 2010 when I went to the er from work bcuz I couldn't breathe. I took loestrin 24 fe for only 1 month and now my life is forever changed. I was housed in the ICU for 13 days, spending 10 of them in a coma. I am currently researching for an attorney to pursue legal action. If I come across any helpful info I will post asap! Sorry to hear all these horrible stories!! Best of luck to all of you!
Shack325 - Wow, I can't believe how many people have had clots due to this dangerous drug. I had my clots over two years ago and posted about my experience near the beginning of this thread. It's amazing to see all of the responses. If anyone knows of an attorney who will listen I really feel like a class action lawsuit is in order. So many people's lives have been jeopardized by Loestrin and thousands of women who currently take it are at risk. If anyone finds a sympathetic attorney please contact me at shack325@yahoo.com. It's a blessing that we are all still alive to tell our stories.
Neecyvincent - I've just been released from the hospital because of Loestrin BC....Two blood clots in my lungs and one in my leg leg from the groin all the way to behind my knee.
I've always been very healthy dont drink or smoke and all my blood work came back negative to a predisposition to clots. Was in the hospital for 7 days, out for two then rushed back to ER to stay another 9 days. Shots of blood thinner in my stomache twice a day and on a heparin drip. I would advise anyone on loestrin to consider looking at numerous sites on the net.... all the numerous young women who have almost lost their lives to this medication and some that will never function the same again as they have suffered strokes at the age of 19 and 20 yrs of age.....
Also, please go to the FDA site and report your adverse reactions to this medication....

We need a lawsuit against this company to put a stop to the pushing of this medication!!
My email is neecyvincent@yahoo.com....please contact me with any ideas
Kgetter - Hello ladies!! Just a quick update... I have contacted Zeccola and Selinger, LLC @ 1-800-387-4262. I am awaiting a call back from the person who handles the "Dangerous Drug" claims. (she will be out of the office until Monday 7/25/11) I believe this office has handled previous Loestrin cases, now we just need them to help ALL of us. Everyone needs to visit this website and leave their info so we can get some results @ [link removed] ~~ If I hear anything further I will post!! Good Luck!!
Kgetter - You can find an entire info page at zslawyers.com under "dangerous drugs" tab, then click on "loestrin". I sure hope this works for us!!
Kgetter - ~~What are my Rights?
Warner Chilcott makes over a billion dollars a year on Loestrin and there is an enormous temptation for them not to disclose the health risks for such a profitable product, but it is their duty to do so. When the government and pharmaceutical companies fail, it is up to individuals to contact lawyers to protect their rights.
If you believe you have been wronged, take action to protect your rights. ~~

Arivera04 - I have been on loestrin 24 for yrs and have not had any blood clots or any problems. But have been having leg pain for the past day or so. what does it feel like?
Kgetter - Everyones case is different. I have a blood clot in my lung so personally I'm not sure what the feeling would be from the leg...although I have been told by doctors that the pain can be anywhere from mild to extremely severe. There will be pretty moderate swelling and in some cases the leg will darken and even become black. The doctor said some patients are unable to put even the slightest bit of pressure on their foot. I do personally warn you to stop taking this medicine. No matter how long you've taken it and not had side effects, please see a doctor (maybe even a different doctor) and change to another type of contraceptive. I took this medicine for only 1 month and now my life will never be the same. Run while you can!!!
Mrsshekiejohnson - Yes I am the same way I developed 2 blood clots in the lung and 2 in the abdomen and i was hospitalize for 7 days. If anyone knows how I can sue them please please let me know :P
Blessedmom - BLESSEDMOM- I am pleased I found this site, I read each and every one of your comments. My OB prescribed loestrin-24-fe to me to control heavy menstrual bleeding. God led me to sit down tonight to research this drug BEFORE I took the first pill tomorrow. After reading your stories, I will NOT take the drug and will live with my heavy bleeding. With all of the complaints I read today against this drug, I can't believe prescriptions are still written to "us," the consumer who is in the dark about pending lawsuits and the many victims who are being hospitalized. Many blessings your way and thanks again for your FULL disclosure. I will keep my pills, labels and discloure documents just in case you need it. email> icreatevalue@gmail.com
Mrsshekiejohnson - Yes for God's sake please dont take it!! Im still recovering from mines, the blood clots are completely gone but now Im having problems with my lungs and having shortness of breath... Im now seeing a pulmonary rehab center. I did try to file a lawsuit, but no one will take the case, guess it just my tough luck :)
Mmm2001 - I took Loestrin for @ 5 years and developed a blood clot in 2009. I didn't ralize I had it at first and thought it was sciatica due to the pain in my leg. When I went to the doctor, they ultimately determined it was likely DVT and sent me to the emergency room. Fortunately, the clot didn't break off and end up causing a PE or stroke, but I ended up on blood thinners for 6 months and have been living with the effects of the clot for over 2 years now. Even with daily wearing of a compression sock, my leg is still a little swollen and more red than the other. Circulation is still partially blocked, as the clot did not totally disolve & has hardened to the wall of the vein. It was quite painful for the first several months and has limited my physical activity. I haven't been able to go hiking or running for two years. Over the first 18 months, the pain diminished and I no longer have a problem walking at a brisk pace, but I haven't seen any additional improvement in the last 6 months. I am hopeful that I will be able to fully recover at some point, but this has been a long, slow process and is really frustrating since I am in my mid-thirties and was fairly active. Before taking it, the medication's warnings led me to believe that the risk of blood clots was low for non-smokers like myself, but it seems that there are a lot of us out there in this same situation....
Lolab - I went to the ER because of this medication and had a mini stroke. I have had this happen 3 times to me. I have spent a ton of money on medical bills. This is the ONLY medication I take, I don't even take Advil! I work out 3 times a week, don't smoke, drink occassionally, and eat mainly organic foods... This birth control has to be the reason I have had these issues! I'm almost 22 and have had these problems for 2 years now... I started taking Loestrin24 when I was 19.
I want to gather emails from everyone who would like to start a lawsuit... please respond on this thread if you would like to participate and I will give out my email.
Kufan4ever - I WAS ONLY ON LOESTRIN 24 19 DAYS AND DEVELOPED A BLOOD CLOT IN MY LEFT CALF!! 19 DAYS!! OMG!!! I HAVE NOT FOUND ANYONE TO TAKE THE CASE!!
Kgetter - I believe we all are "IN" for this lawsuit. We haven't had any luck thus far with legal help. If you happen to locate someone willing to help with the pursuit, I am willing more than willing to participate!! Keep us posted.
Lizardz_1 - I was only on the LoEsterinFe for two weeks when I developed a PVT (portal vein thrombosis) and was hospitalized. My vascular surgeon said the pill was the only factor that could have caused the PVT. I will be on blood thinners for life and my large intestine was damaged due to the pill. I am also searching for a lawsuit...
Shack325 - Lizardz...I too developed a blood clot due to loestrin fe. Make sure that you see a hematologist before determining if you have to be on blood thinners for life. There is a series of tests that you should take (if you haven't already done so) which will determine if you are genetically more likely to develop another clot or if the pill was the sole cause. I received a ton of misinformation when I had my clot and it took a lot of research for me to totally understand what happened to me. I was initially told that I'd have to take thinners my whole life but a hematologist finally gave me the correct diagnosis determining that the pill was the only cause and that I only needed the thinners for six months. Just wanted to help you out...hope this helped and glad you survived your clot. As you probably know, many gave died that were in our same situation. I can be reached at shack325@yahoo.com if you have any questions.

Centralil - kgetter, I am still having some shortness of breath from the upper resp infection that I had, It has hung on for a few weeks. i am just now starting to feel better.
Baxtrumnm - I was on Loestrin for a short period of time. A doctor prescribed me to take 1 pill twice a day which caused a blood clot in my lung. I dont smoke or drink. Thank god for my mother she told me I might have a blood clot. I went to the doctor numerous times and they treating me for things thats not a problem.
Mukinky - Mukinky-I was on Loestrin Fe 24 for about a month. .A doctor had prescribed me to take one pill a day . I had develope shortness of breath,Swelling in my legs and Ankels. Then one day I started sweating real bad, heart beating fast ,heart rate was pretty high. I was rushed to the hospital.I later found out that I had blood clots in both lungs, and a blood clot in my right leg.I was in the hospital for about a week.I was on Coumadin for about 8 months. The doctor told me that the Loestrin had caused it.I had never been bother with blood clots before,no history whatsoever. In this situation ,it left me not being able to lift.If anyone knows of a class action lawsuit ,Please let me know.
Bmoore - I have been reading this posts for a while now and I have been living with the blood clots almost 2 years now. Recently at my last visit I was informed I will likely be on blood thinner for the rest of my life. I continue to have sever leg pain and swelling and I will never be able to take medication to try to concieve again. I didn't start taking lo estrin 24 to prevent pregnancy but to correct another issue caused by a fertility drug. I have been told over and over not to get pregnant on this current blood thinner, so my chances of ever having another child are very slim. If anyone gets a lawsuit going I am very interested in being a part of it. My entire life has changed because of this drug. I continue to have aquire more medical debt because of this pill and women are daily being hurt by this drug. Please let me know if anyone gets something started with this drug. Thanks my email is lynnmo82@yahoo.com
Sarasmommy06` - I was on Loestrin Fe24 for three months because my Ob/Gyn was trying to clear up some ovarian cysts I had. I started taking Loestrin Fe24 in February 2010 and on June 3, 2010 I was hospitalized with a massive DVT in my right leg and multiple PEs in both lungs. I spent 3 days in CCU and 3 days in a regular room. I began coumadin treatments, and after four weeks was still having pain, swelling, and redness in my leg. Went to see my cardio-vasc doc and he recommended intervention surgery. I had the surgery a week later, and my doc pretty much rebuilt the veins in my right leg. I have a stent in my iliac vein stretching from my belly button to my mid-thigh. I will be on blood thinners for life and cannot have any more children. I am a non-smoker and was 29 when hospitalized. I too thought my breathing problems were from an upper respiratory infections; x-rays will not show clots. It wasn't until I was rushed to the hospital and had a cat scan did they realize I had hundreds of clots in my lungs. I had 4 doctors tell me during my first hospital stay there's no logical reason I should be alive (or at the very least, brain damaged from stroke). I know there are suits for Yaz; if anyone hears of a lawsuit against this drug I am EXTREMELY interested. My entire life has been altered because of this dangerous drug.
Ricketa03 - I've been on Loesterin24Fe since April of last year. Thia past Summer of 2011the I started having chest pains at night. After finally going to the dr a few weeks ago and ultrasounds they discovered it was my gallbladder removed after reading these posts im sure the birth control is to blame. I am a healthy active 22 year old.
Lisa07 - i had this same problem in june 2010 i was only on this bc pill for 3 months not even a full 3 but saw a big red mark behind my right knee and dismissed it it felt a lil warm but thought i kicked myself in my sleep or something after days of heat and soaking the redness went away and then i woke up in the middle of the night with shortness of breath so bad i thought i had a collapsed lung i was getting it seemed NO air for a bit then it settled down so i went to work for a few hrs and called my dr. who sent me directly to ER once i went to see her not saying what she thought it was but by then i told her i think i had a dvt/pe cuz i looked on google anyway i went to ER and was diagnosed with a dvt/pe in my right lung and spent 4days in the ER where they say im lucky i lived after waiting so long to go to dr. pleaseeee ladies if u have any symptoms such as what im describing go to the ER and ask for a D dimer test it will rule out or find a blood clot. i have pains in my calfs now all the time especially at night i cant take bc pills no more or i will have to be on coumadin rest of my life but like u sara i took to shrink ovarian cysts on my ovaries. we need a lawsuit bad these dr.s need to stop pushing these bad drugs on us. :( im happy to be alive but now everytime i get a pain in my legs i think i have a dvt so i rush to ER or worry alot, its cost me alot of money im still slowly paying off dr. bills ..please help if anyone knows of a lawsuit contact me at l_i_s_a_12000@yahoo.com
Chelatx29 - I'm 29 years old, and it is my first time taking birth control. I started taking Loestrin24 Fe in 01-31-2012 till 03-09-2012 I feel severe heahaches and dizziness, the dizziness is bad I feel like my brains are going to spin out. I can't stop crying I feel sad and mad furious, mood swings are taking over me. My feet are swollen, I feel tired and exausted. I have a two month baby and I'm going crazy, the good thing my husband is putting up with all of this, I need help. Its horrible i'm problably going to the emergency room after hearing all the stories above and I feel horrible period.
Arizsnow - arizsnow - I'm 53 years old, never smoked and instead try and exercise and eat right. I was taking Loestrin24 Fe from 6/1/11 through 1/7/12 for long heavy periods which dr said would help. On 1/8/12, I got a shooting pain in the groin of my left leg and all of a sudden my leg was numb and slowly swelled up and turned purple. I waited 5 hours (don't wait that long) but finally went to the er where they quickly diagnosed a dvt in my leg and clot in my right lung. They said I was lucky to be alive. This does not run in my family. When I was young, say 19 to 24 and between each of my 3 children I took Lo Ovral and had no problems. I am presently on Coumadin and will be at least another 4 or so months if all goes well. As I read some of your experiences above, I realize there were other symptoms I ignored which I attributed to possibly going through Menopause or just getting older, like dizziness, severe headaches, crying, which I'd never had before. I'm so glad you all made it through this ordeal. Wish I'd read up on this pill before I blindly took it. I'm still paying medical bills,
Mara'smom - Mara's mom- my 16 year old daughter took loestrin 24 fe for only a month, she began complaining of numbness which led to slurred speech. I quickly realized she was having a stroke. She was perfectly healthy and physically fit before this. She suffered a T.I.A. and some memory loss. The Loestrin was the only thing different she had done. Thankfully I was with her and aware of what was happening to get her prompt medical attention. My medical bills are just starting to come in and I am amazed at the price this pill has cost us, as well as my duaghter's health.
Gottotri - I'm 40 and was diagnosed with a DVT in my left leg as well as a superficial blood clot . I am a triathlete and don't smoke. I was on Loestrin for about 2 years and now that the blood clots are gone I'm told that they were due to the birth control. I initially felt like I had a Charlie horse so I ignored it until the back of my knee hurt so bad I couldn't walk. I was told I was lucky since they didn't travel but as I gave myself blood thinning injections in my stomach for two weeks I didn't feel so lucky. I was diagnosed on 11-22-11 and finally off Coumadin on 5-7-12.
Kimberk - Kimberk - I am on Lo Lestrin Fe and just left the clinic complaining of shortness of breath. I haven't had the leg pain. They did a chest Xray and a D-dimer blood test and said I didn't have any clots. After reading this I am terrified. Not what to do at this point because I am still experiencing shortness of breath and tightness in my chess.
Shack325 - Kimberk,
I just wanted to let you know that an xray cannot detect a blood clot. You have to have a CT scan. I didnt havr leg pain when I had my clots. If you are still having shortness of breath you should go to the ER. Not trying to scare you but better safe than sorry.
Celena
Kimberk - thanks celena I go tomorrow for more test! The d dimer was negative so the nurse was sure I had no clots although I am not so sure.
Sgr35 - I have been on lo loestrin fe for almost 6 months and just last week I noticed a sharp pain in my calf coming and going but lasts for a while when it's there and since yesterday I now also have cranky feeling up the back of the thigh of the same leg. I find this sight doing a search, thinking that it could be from bcp. I didn't exercise or do anything to make it hurt. It's not a severe pain but it is annoying pain. How does the pain feel with clotting in legs. Hot, burning, crampy, constant or not , hurt more while standing or same over all. Please let me know. Happy mothers day to all mommies!!
Shack325 - Sgr35,
A clot can feel like a hot or burning sensation. It can feel like a cramp and can be painful. Since you are on loestrin you should go to the ER immediatly. A clot can be deadly if it travels and makes it to your heart or brain. It might not be a clot but you should be safe. Dont wai until tomorrow,.go right now. Clots are silent killers. Please let us know your status.
Yarie - As You all may have read my story already I strongly advice you to please stop taking this medication as I almost lost my life because of you. People asked about potential lawsuit and as of this point I have not found anyone taking lawsuit against Loestrin I was adviced to go to the FDA website and post my story. If the FDA see that there are many people with issues because of this medication they will consider an investigation against them so I now encourage you to please speak let them know your situation something has to be done or does anyone has to die in order for the FDA to do something about it. Please I beg you do something before its too late for another victim ;( sad but it's true I'm still suffering all the consequences of it. For what I have read I have been the one with the most damages and trust me it sucks specially when I have my daughter to look after and I won't be able to do so from a hospital bed this is life this is reality please save a life and post your story.
Mrsshekiejohnson - How can we post to the FDA, this is ridiculous, its it tooo many us that are having blood clots. We need to sue these ppl because they are playing with our lives!!!!!
Yarie - Google FDA medwatch once you are on the website look for an option that let's you report a drug issue. I will only take like 20-30 depending on how much you write. And I agree it's not fair something needs to be done ASAP if Yaz is being sued than why cant the Loestrin? Than again the answer is people in which this has happened to have no reported it so they need a huge amount and possible deaths to pay attention sad but true. The worst thing is that the clots are not in just areas where they won't kill you no in my case my brain others their lungs like are you serious and you are selling this crap to people because thats all it is nothing but crap garbage
Mrsshekiejohnson - Thank you so much I just finished it, everyone needs to do this and we move up one more step!!!
Asiram44 - Loestrin24 was the first birth control pill I ever took. I was 25. 3 months later I was hospitalized with blood clots in my lungs.
After a week in the hospital, I was sent home with an oxygen tank/machine. I later found out I have Factor V Leiden which made me more susceptible to clots but I think the drug should still be reevaluated since something so potentially deadly can happen in such a short amount of time. After Genetic Testing, my grandma and mom both have factor V leiden and were both on birth control pills, gave birth to 3 children and never had any blood clot issues.

Suki - I was on Loestrin 24 for about 9 months (started the pills in Oct 2010) when i was diagnosed with multiple clots to my left leg...Never smoked or did any type of drugs..
I was started coumadin therapy. Till this day..I am still on coumadin 6mg... My Dr. is planning on stopping the therapy next month in July...(cross your fingers!)
Due to the Loestrin 24 pills... I am no longer able to use any type of birth control and my left leg swells up on and off...and I no longer can run.. :(
if anyone also knows of any lawsuits like Yaz ...Let me kno
Yarie - I'm still in search of a lawsuit but like I said prior please report this to the FDA and lets pray that they take our cases into consideration and help us get rid of this pills. Please help yourself and those that you know and alert them as to what this pills out in the market are doing to us.
Lawilly - i took a different pill in my teens-20s (for 9 years) without problems. had 2 heathly kids in my 30s while i stayed heathly too. i started back on loestrin when i turned 40 b/c i didn't want to get pregnant again and my husband was squimish about a visectomy. 6 months into the loestrin, i had pain in my shoulder and chest, i went to the dr b/c i lost mobility in my left arm and had swelling all the way down to my hand/arm discolored/red/grey/white. dr sent me to get a cta scan of my shoulder right away and found big and many clots going from my shoulder into my chest. they told me it was a good thing i did not ignore it as it would probably would have become a much worse problem. i was in admitted into the hospital and am still on warfarin. the drs, nurses and specialists have told me a clot in the shoulder/chest area is not usual. i have no previous problems with clots and no genetic predispositions to them (as per the many blood tests they did). however, after reading everyone else's posts here that they had clots in their chests/lungs, perhaps mine is not so unual due to taking loestrin. this is shocking to see everyone's stories here.. !! i never really wanted to go back on the pill and certainly would not have (especially loestrin!) if i had read this first!!

There is not any such thing like a solitary st.We create one physical structure and all of us is one of the other (Romans 12:5).Subsequently, we really are to serve each other.
You can say you can't do nearly anything. That is usually a lie from devil. To do something.Being member on the body in Christ, it happens to be your duty to assist the rest grow, in order that the whole is healthy (Ephesians contemplate:16).
An enormous part in living an enormous and successful Christian life in fact is giving."Give what? " you may ask.Give time.Give money.Give food.Give encouragement.Give away your outdated clothes.Give away some fresh ones.Give smiles, hand shakes, and hugs. These things mean lots! Especially if those who come into a reliable church never experience this kind of love any place else

There is not any such thing like a solitary st.We create one physical structure and all of us is one of the other (Romans 12:5).Subsequently, we really are to serve each other.

Mdrettig - I don't know if any of you check back on this board, but I wanted to say THANK YOU for posting your stories.
I started Loestrin four months ago and had great success in controlling my bi-monthly, painful periods. However, by month three my periods had become irregular again even though I was taking the medication as prescribed. Now, in my fourth month, my entire body is covered in acne and I can't get it to go away. I started searching the web, looking to see if others had this same complaint. I stumbled across your discussion board and now have plenty reason to throw the rest of my pack in the garbage. Thank you for sharing your honest stories and i pray you have helped me and others avoid disaster in our own lives. I pray good comes to all of you for sharing so openly.
Yarie - Please let us know as we all are here for many purposes to stop this pill from being in the market and to try and sue for the damages that they have caused us. Please report this to the FDA as well the more the people do it the better it is
Kcliving - I have had the same results with Loestrin 24 as everyone here. I would love updates on any upcoming lawsuits. Wendi P
Evelyn_g41 - oh wow T^T I was supposed to start taking this thing today.... now I'm thinking I should not :\ my period is long and heavy but is it worth a clot?
this all sounds awful
Yarie - I really don't recommend any type of birth control pills it's not worth a clot believe me I would rather have heavy periods every month than to see my life the way it is now. The fact that I almost died over some pill is no joke so my advice if you cherish your life maybe look into something natural
Jycuevas - jycuevas- I took loestrin for two months. AND got a blot clot in my arm. The pain I felt was so unbearable. I was screaming to the top on my lungs and was put on the hospital for 7 days. Everyday I wake up and pray that I never feel that pain again. I am very scared when I have any pain in my body that I may die, just because I took birth control. I want to sue but do not know how. I live in florida. My email is jycuevas@hotmail.com.
Sh31680 - I've had on and off sharp, stabbing chest pains for a while now. Was on Loestrin for a few months, but have since discountinued using it. I also have shortness of breath and simple things like walking to my car get me easily winded. I told my Dr I was scared may have a blood clot and she orderd a d-dimer blood test which came back borderline, right at the cut-off between normal and high. She does not seem to concerned, anyone else have a d-dimer test and were your results high or normal?
Sh31680 - And should I let it go or insist on a CT Scan to be certain? I hate to seem like a hypochondriac and push the issue, but at the same time I have 5 kids and don't want to take any chances that could result in them being without a mother.
Aleka28 - I was diagnosed with a dvt in my left arm. I had been on several different birth control contraceptives. The latest was Loestrin. I was in the hospital for several days and on several blood thinners. There are so many lawsuits for other birth controls but, not Loestrin. I think there are enough complaints we should have a class action. I have several hospital bills that I'm still paying on.
B1105 - I am setting here on July 26,2012 thanking God for a leg cramp in my right leg which stayed in my leg for 3days that prompted me to see my doctor. I was hospitalized for 5 days with a blot clot in that leg and several in my lungs. I was prescribed coumadin for 4 months. The doctors ran tests and could only say..."you can "NEVER" take any type of estrogen ever" I thank God for healing me.
God Bless all of you that have gone through. I know it was scary, but God kept us.
Other women should know the risks are this high and prevalent.
These posts has been very helpful. Please keep posting any new information.
B1105 - And only because I did not proofread before posting...I am retracting my errors: "setting" should be "sitting" & "These posts has" should be "These posts have"
Any other mistakes? Oh well
Kbdews - I too like everyone used Loestrin 24 & developed a blood clot in my left lung after being on this pill for 1 year. The clot started in my left calf. It felt like a BAD muscle cramp...The cramping & my skin felt HOT to the touch!!! Not warm Hot!!! That's one of the signs of a blood clot. 3 days is too long to wait to get this checked out. I didnt go to the doctors right away. I thought I injured my leg in Boot Camp... It wasnt until the pain went away in my leg on the 3rd day. The next morning I woke up & couldn't breath....You guessed it the clot moved to my lung. THANK GOD the ER doctor followed his gut instincts. Admitted me an hour later the cardiologist confirmed it was in my left lung.

Shack325 - You should get a CT scan of your lungs. That will detect a blood clot. An xray cannot detect it. Act quickly since it could be life threatening.
Kim8139 - It sounds like you have a clot to me. Go to a different hospital. Have them to do a echo, CT of your chest and ultrasound of your leg. If they do not want to do the tests make sure you demand it. Do not wait another minute it can travel very quickly. They discovered my clot with an echoogram. I had shortness of breathe. I had saddle pulmonary embolism in my lungs. The doctor told me that he was surprised that I am still alive. Let me know what happen. Kim8139@gmail.com
Kate811 - I was on loestrin Fe for 6 weeks and was in the ER on saturday night with extremely high blood pressure and numbness and loss of contol in my left arm and leg. I am 39 and don't smoke but I was diagnosedc with a TIA (small stroke), high blood pressure , increased migraines and dizziness, being tired all the time all from 6 weeks on this terrible pill. I still have some tingling and heaviness in my left arm. Thank god I was alert and aware enough to call 911 before I ended up having a stroke in my sleep and scaring my little ones.I am very angry and upset that this has happened.
Hfulgham - Hi! I was diagnosed with DVT & a pulmonary embolism a couple months ago. This thread is from a year ago, was anyone able to find info of how to hold the drug manufacturers accountable?
