Toma - Hello,
My name is Tom a 39 yr. old male and i feel your pain.
I took a 10 count for 2 months and i have been off of it for going on 4 months, I have been fatigued and dizzy since, yes now for 6 months of my life i am dizzy and weak. Don't let that bother you some people get over this quicker than others. I had a bad reaction to lisinopril and of course the doctor says its not the med. Because i stopped taking it 1 week into it and my blood pressure spiked so i called the doctor to ask him what should i do and he freaked on me because i stopped taking the med and told me to get back on it right now so im like oh hell better listen to the doctor, well that was not the thing to do at the time so long and short i took it for another 1.75 months and decided to stop taking it on my own.
I went cold turkey and just stopped, my experience was it got worse if you can believe that, I had no idea at the time what i was in for. I figured if i stopped taking it i would get better once it got out of my system well as i conti. to feel like i was dying everyday i started to read all of the postings here at med.com yes i read all 32 pgs. Just to try to get some kind of idea of what to expect. Well some got over faster than others and found alot of people went to the doctor to find out what was wrong with them, alot of people have said that the doctor found nothing wrong with them and said it was all in thier mind, well that is thier opinion but it most certainly is not in my mind, it is a frustrating reality i live with. I have gone finally to the doctor, my wife and family members thought i was out of my mind due to the fact that i have not gone to seek medical attention if i was feeling so bad, i mean not able to work. Well i have read all these posts of people that have spent fortunes trying to figure out what is wrong with them and nothing shows up. Well of course my blood work comes back just fine.
I don't know if you have looked into the drug lisinopril but if you read the postes here at med.com you will find that lisinopril has venom from a poisonous Brazilian Snake, is'nt that just great, sure would of like to of been warned of that before taking it but you know they need us ginny pigs. At least that is just about how i feel.
You are welcome to communicate and let me know what you are dealing with and how long you took the med. and how long you have been off of it. I am not a doctor of course but i have had nothing but time on my hands to study what i am dealing with.
It has gotten better but slowly.
Let me know,
Tom
Mavisinsb - Hi , I am a 56 year old female, and was put on this drug , 20 mg once a day. took it for 15 days, felt dizzsy from day 1. Toma - If you want get in touch with me as this can get worse as mine did and it took a long time for me to simply figure out what was the problem. Once I figured out the problem then and only then did I start to recover. The Med opens the door for other problems is what happens. I can now help a little as I have been fighting this off for awhile now. Hopefully I can steer you in the right way and you can figure it out. I am willing to help via email or phone. Toma - How have you been doing since quitting the Lisinorpril? Has the fatigue and dizziness stopped? Found this post on Med. com and seeing how you are doing. You replied to a post I put up when I was quitting taking Lisinopril and I have gotten much better after unravelling the mess it created. Tom
Paulag - Hello All, Thanks for your comments. I began to have severe numbness in feet, legs and thighs after taking lisinopril for about one month. I stopped taking the drug after reading about the side effects.. I have not had any of the drug for 24 hours. I still have terrible numbness and tingling in the lower half of my body. I have read that it takes about three days for the drug to clear the system. I do appreciate your comments. They have given me hope that I can recover. pg@easy.com
Tim547 - Somebody please help me i have a oneyear old. daughter and it has taken my life. i can't enjoy time with her. Tim547@live.com
Toma - Marzzy, This is Toma. Hope things are getting better but If they are as I had it then maybe not.
I got your email, sorry for the delay as it said "Alert" and I dismissed it at a glance. Anyways if you are still dealing with symptoms get with me if you want and I have found many resources and people that know this quandary and it is not the Doctors, sorry to say. I have been fighting this for 4 years now and took Lisinopril for a short while. It opened the imbalance and when Lisinorpril gets out of the body then you have the imbalance to deal with.
I am glad to help in anyway I can or get you with the right people. Speaking of the 4 years of fighting this imbalance, I have now gotten the recipe that works, so good news for you or anyone else that gets this info, I had to dig and prod to find the solution. Glad to help leave your email or phone if you wish tarmistead@gmail.com

Tlhs5 - I took Lisinopril for one horrible week. The first night I woke up with violent nausea and shaking; it went on for hours. Went to MD next morning and he gave me a shot of Phenegren and set me up for a abdominal sonogram. The nausea ( horrible) continued for a week. Even with nausea meds, I could eat very little (also developed a nasty taste in my mouth). Finally my MD took me off this drug. After a week off, I'm still dealing with nausea and that nasty taste. When will this go away??
Billyj48 - I was on lisinopril for a few months and had bad lower leg cramps but my Doctor insisted that is had to be lack of potassium or something, not the lisinopril. To further complicate things I had total knee replacement surgery and the Doctor said it was OK to continue taking the lisinopril during and after the surgery. 2 1/2 months later I am hear to tell you staying on lisinlopril was the biggest mistake of my life so far. after the surgery both legs lost a lot of the feeling in them, I would tell my Doctor and he didn't believe me. The first three weeks I was taking pain meds. and decided to get off them. 19 days after getting off the pain meds I was still having what I thought was withdrawl symtoms (hot legs, arms, shoulders, nausea, depression, anxiety, leg spasms, restless leg syndrome) from the pain meds but found and realized this must be connected to the only thing I was taking: lisinopril. I quit the lisinopril 13 days ago and have slowly improved, my leg cramps have moved to my feet and are less consequential, my itchy throat cough has decreased, my hot flashes have decreased in occurence and spaced out more, my bad nausea is getting better , I am beginning to actually taste my food, my apetite is increasing a little. It amazes me how Doctors defend this drug and because they are smarter than we defend it at all costs, including patients health. I am also finally sleeping better with herbal tea and melatonin to relax me and my blood pressure is decreasing again finally so I am hopeful there is a light at the end of the tunnel that Doctors advice has put me in. It is bad to be sick and have no doctor believe you actually are, that adverse side effects are in your mind.
Ddoss - I have been on lisinopril for about 2 years. (10mg). About 7 months ago the doctor up it to 20 mg. I started feeling back and thought it was allergies. Then about 2 months ago I started getting this pins and needle sensation in my whole back area and then would travel to other parts of my body. I had thought something was badly wrong with me. I started reading on the internet and returned to my doctor. He said nothing was wrong and said it was allergies, told me to take allegra. I continued to read on the internet until I seen something that caught me eye about lisinopril. I started reading and decided that it was the cause. I stopped taken it immediately and in two days I was feeling better. I set another appointment up with the doctor and told him that I was not taken this medication anymore. Now he tells me it is ace inhibitors and took me off of it. DONT TAKE THIS POISON!!!!!!!!!
Kherron - I started taking lose dose in Nov. due to my BP being 140/90. I took it every morning maybe missing it a couple of times. Early Jan I experiencied what I thought was a panic attack. I had this feeling before, going away after a few minutes. This time it lasted for several hours and I felt terrible. I keep worrynig about everything which made me panic. Difficult at work. Not extreme but a bad feeling. This went on for several days. My blood pressure went up several times and I stopped taking Lisinopril for a couple of days. I thought that might be it. My blood pressure went back up and I continued. Went to see Dr and they precribed Paxil. I read into this and decided not to take it. I am still taking the Lisinopril and feeling better. I have lost 10 lbs in 2 weeks becuse of loss of app. I am gaining my app back and exercising. After reading these posts, I am going to discuss with dr about stopping. I am 42, 183lb 5'10". I think I am pretty healthy. At least all my tests have been that way. No history of bad BP.
Hme - Has anyone found that lisinopril makes them excessively sleepy and makes them eat like a horse? I started it a few weeks ago and found the lowering of blood pressure in record time truly helpful and amazing, but since then I've been getting more tired and more depressed and craving salty and sugary things all day long. I can't tell if this is the medication or the med in combo with my other meds or something else entirely (a lot of stress lately) but would appreciate others' input. Thanks!
Lulu1007 - My husband has just stopped lisinopril due to vomiting, dizziness and weird vision. Even though he has been throwing up and retching daily, he gained 10 lbs. I think it is due to this medicine, thus the reason he is going off of it. He is seeing an ENT and neurologist and they are baffled also. I think it all started about 6-9 mos. ago when he started this medication. After reading these posts, I'm more convinced than ever! He immediately got more energy when stopping it, but is getting better slowly with the other symptoms. Any one else out there had similar symptoms?
