Lisinopril Hot Flushes, Pills, Hot Sweats, Prescription Coverage, Big L
Posted over a year ago
I am still experiencing hot flushes even though I am post menopausal. I reckon it could be down to the Lisinopril pills. My dose has been doubled to 20mg from 10mg. Could this be the case? Has anyone else had these symptoms?
Badstuff - YES! I am breaking out in hot sweats so bad recently. Been on the big "L" since 6/1. I am over menopause also. Didn't know if it was this med or not. I HATE this stuff and WILL be going off of it soon. The sad thing is that there is nothing I want to be prescribed because I've read all reviews for all the BP meds. I used to be on Atacand and had no problems but had to switch because I lost prescription coverage.
Seashell2 - Yes, I had that reaction too. This is a terrible drug. I am going to a biofeedback specialist to try to control my blood pressure naturally, then may only need a low dose of a drug.
Trysomethingbetter - I was just prescribed 10mg of this drug today, and took one around noon.
My BP was normal 3 months ago except for issues with "white-coat-hypertension." My BP has been up averaging 150/90, but I know it's due to my own lifestyle choices, weight-gain, inconsistency with exercise, and bad eating habits. I've had BP issues in the pat, but it went to normal after making some serous adjustments.
The doctor I saw was very young(28-30's). She tried to convince me that I could possibly have a stroke tommorrow if i did not start the drug. My daughter is an RN, and assured me that making lifestyle changes and sticking with those changes might be a better option than the inclusion of this drug as an addition. I didn't feel warm fuzzies about this drug, and found this message board. I'm glad I did. I'm having serious hot flashes as I write this, and I am post menopausal.
I'm going to continue on the DASH diet, watching my sodium, sweets, and fat intake, and exercising.
This stuff sounds like poison for sure!!
Gladys1948 - Hi,yes i too have hot flashes even when the temp is cold. And sometimes i feel like i'm going to pass out...i've told my doctor but he refuses to change the med. He insists that my symptoms are caused by anxiety. Doctors....go figure!!!!!
Stressed70 - whew, just found this site today and am I glad. Was on atenolol and started having tach attacks (Heart at 200 bpm). This started after a Dr. gave me potasiam pills (then she looked at my last blood test which showed my potasiam was high and said, oh well, won't hurt and will be good for my BP) Three days later the tach attacks started. Then my cardio DR put me on lisinopril/HCTZ. I ended up having an ablation. Complained for over 1 year of anxiety attacks. Finally was told by family friend these were caused by the combo drug. Called the refill center at Dr's office and she said lots of people have the same complaint. So why didn't the doctor know this? Split the drugs and recently changed doctors/insurance company. Just started in August with the medicines from a different drug manufacturer. 2 weeks later my hair is falling out like crazy, no energy, heart beat wacks & ended up in ER when my BP went to 201/86 w/pulse of 127. Prior to August my BP was 122/65 w/pulse of 64. Too many of these meds are now manufactured in China and there are many concerns about quality control. Could this be part of the problem?
