I started taking lipitor about 3 years ago, my Dr. said it was better than the one i was taking,can't remember the name of that one, so now i have neck pain,feet and leg cramps during the nite,and feet and leg numbness while sitting or walking, i feel weak,lightheaded,have trouble walking, if i'm on my feet for a hour,it feels like i have run a marathon, my Dr. does blood work and says my potassium is rock bottom,so he puts me on potassium, started with one a day (20m) now he has me on two a day,and i have gained 8 lbs. and still have all of the above symptoms,i don't know what to do,should i change doctors or stop taking lipitor...got to do something because i get worse each day,gonna be in a wheelchair soon..i'm 67yrs.old 5'9 167lbs so i'm not fat size 10..so it can't be weight, before taking lipitor i was very active and my job was on my feet walking ...so any advice please

Hasina - hi ,my father was also on lipitor for 8 year's and now he is in wheelchair. most of his symptom has been recovered but he is unable to walk by his own and he was on karvea for blood pressure ,aropax for depression ,asprin,now he is taking coq10 150mg together with fish oil 2x a day and he doesn't need blood pressure medication now his blood pressure medicine is coq10 he also start to quit aropax too .he is slightly improved.consider taking coq10 with fish oil .does your doctor did blood test for potassium and told you to take or without blood test?remember too much potassium in blood dangerous for the the heart as well as low level too.talk to your doctor and quit lipitor the sooner you quit the sooner recovery from adverse effect,the longer you take more damage to your system.there is very safe way to lower cholesterol with no side effect if interested i would help.good luck hope recovery to all statin user's god bless .

Oldcarpetcleaner - Quit the poison befiore you get a lot worse. The whole cholestrol thesis is a complete scam. The higher the cholestrol the healthier you are. Go to spacedoc dot net and read what intelligent and honourable doctors as well as cardiologists say about this horrific statin scam. Do not be afraid of cholestrol do be afraid of brain dead doctors who can't think for themselves. Good luck for your recovery.

Propsguy - see the latest warnings from the FDA concerning statin drugs. you gotta know, if the drug company patsy FDA is saying that the stuff is more dangerous than they originally thought, it must be even way more dangerous than they are now admitting. the FDA knows who butters it's bread and it will do anything to avoid pointing a finger at a drug. i predict that within 20 years, the full body count will emerge, the false theory on cholesterol as the enemy will be debunked, and doctors who formerly handed out statins to everyone will back pedal so fast it will make your head spin. statins will either be taken off the market or, more likely, they'll be allowed to vanish without fanfare (drug companies will already have made all their money off it, so they'll just let it die). don't wait until science catches up with common sense. protect yourself, not your doctor's income, not drug company profits- do not take these drugs! it won't do you any good, when the anti-statin position is finally vindicated, if you are in a wheelchair!

Bradford - I’ve been teaching pre-med students for many years. Doctors are not on the top rung of the academic or scientific ladder but somewhere near the middle. Think of a doctor as a plumber who is taught to follow a certain blueprint in fixing a possible problem. You can accept or reject his recommendation or get a new plumber. Doctors are not gods who must be obeyed under penalty of damnation. Statins are an insidious poison and should be avoided at all cost.

Oldcarpetcleaner - Bradford, thanks for your post. The hassle is 1) we shouldn't have to go to another doctor or plumber a sensible standard should be set with honest error being acceptable. 2) When you go to another doctor they are no better than the previous doctor. The largest majority of these doctors are honourable and competent people when it comes to first aid etc, but they whore their body, soul and dignity to drug companies at our expense.
