Lipitor Allergic Conjunctivitis, Exema, Office Today, Lips, Omega 3 Fatty Acids
Posted over a year ago
I have been taking Lipitor 20 mg for 4 months. Six to eight weeks ago I developed exema, allergic conjunctivitis and burning/swelling of my lips. I saw a PA at my doctor's office today and we are stopping Lipitor for 10 days to see if it is the culprit. Has anyone else experienced these problems while taking Lipitor?
Olsen - 10 days may not be enough time to determine if Lipitor is responsible for your symptoms. discuss with your doc--because of biochemical changes that occur with statins, you may need to replenish such things as selenium stores, coenzyme q10, omega 3 fatty acids, etc. before any "recovery" can occur. perhaps accessing Dr. Graveline's web site would be of benefit: www.spacedoc.net
Mooshka - Are u doing any better ? Your side-effects made me think. About the same time I started lipitor I had an "allergic reaction" but didnt know to 'what'. I had burning in my mouth, swollen lips and had exema on the chin, down the front of my chest and stomach. So, off i went to a dermatologist which could not determine what I was allergic to. Just yesterday I read the wall street journals' article on the side-effects of statin drugs, and the connection to ALS. I am stopping L until I talk to my doctor.
Davisar - I have been taking Lipitor 10mg for about the last 6 months or so. I have developed a severe case of excema on my scalp. I just today read an article that mayby Lipitor can cause dry skin. Now I am wondering if it could have anything to do with my excema.
Dstam72 - I have been taking 10 mg of Lipitor for about 10years, and have had itchy skin for most of that time. About a year and a half ago I moved up to 20 mg and since have developed a massive case of Excema, arms, legs, back, etc. It was awful, couldn't sleep for the itch, scratched to blood on arms and legs, etc. etc, etc. I quit taking the Lipitor and it immediately started getting better. It's been about 6 months now and I'm all but clear of the itch, and it keeps getting better.
Nothing helped until I quit the Lipitor. I am convinced that was the problem.
Rong - Had done a search because of extreme dryness of skin. I've been on Lipitor for 5 years. After reading your articles it explains other affects I hadn't attributed to this medication but now percieve. Thank you for your efforts. I believe these anomalies are lipitor related.
