Higher Blood Alcohol Concentration With Levothyroxine
Posted over a year ago
I was wondering if it is possible that when taking Levothyroxine on a daily basis and drinking 4-5 drinks, if the blood alcohol would be higher in concentration and for a longer duration?
Daveindc - Yes, it will. I drank 4 5 oz glasses of wine over 3.5 hours while on levothyroxine. I was in an accident. My blood alcohol was .24 (over twice the legal limit) where it should have been .036 (well under the limit). Fortunately, I was not cited for DUI; as the blood alcohol was recorded at the hospital and the police did not find me intoxicated at the accident.
Glynisrose - This sounds very plausible. I stopped drinking altogether about 8 years ago because I was getting a hongover from small amounts of alcohol, plus the hangover was lasting for days on end!!
