I started taking Levaquin 500mg 3 22 07 on the 3rd day My legs hurt so bad I could hardly walk. My knees also hurt, My hips & back of legs allthe way down my legs the muscles hurt so bad I cried,even when I walked the back of my ankles it would pull I would have to set down, My memory has changed, like short term it is so weird, My son asked me yesturday If I was ok. My joints or so sore, i can't hardly do my hair, lifting my arms it is so painful. My fingers also are hurting so bad.
Lpanda50 - I started taking Levaquin 500 mg for a sinus infection. I was supposed to take the pills for 11 days. I experienced the same thing with severe muscle pain in my knees and joints. My legs would barely bent because they were so swollen.My first reaction was not to say anything to anyone becuase I am not one to complain, however, it kept getting worse and I called my doctor. I told her that I had to stop taking Levaquin. She said it would be out of my system within the next 3 weeks. The bad thing is that my knees are still swollen after 5 months and have not been the same since. Is there a anicdote for a severe reaction to Levaquin. If anyone knows anything-please let me know. Kelly94 - I too, had taken Levaquin 500mg for pneumonia. I experienced the same thing. It too started on the third day and got worse, to the point I could hardly walk. My doctor told me that is just a rare side effect of the medicine and there is nothing you can really do for it. She said she could put me in physical therapy but it would not make it "go away", it would just help it some. And she also said, that once you have this tendonitis you have it for a long time. It has been almost two months for me and still my legs are swollen and still ache really bad. I have found that the Nike Air Max tennis shoes have helped alot better on my legs. Cshirley - I was on 10 days of 750 mg ofLevaquin back in July for a pesudomonas sinus bacteria. After 3 days I felt something pop in my scapula/shoulder area. I was told that this was the only oral med that would kill this bacteria and to try to get through the side effects if possible. Thank God I was on pain meds from surgery because I could barely walk. I was in so much pain from my legs, arms, back etc. it was unreal. The bacteria mutated and grew back even stronger after the 10 day does ended. I was then put back on another 30 day round of 750 mg of Levaquin to avoid a picc line. This time,I could not make it past 10 days. I called the infectious disease Dr. and told him the medicine was ripping me apart and I could not take it anymore. I ended up having a 3rd surgery and the infected tissue was surgically removed. Mean while I have been in so much pain with my shoulder that I ended up at a Orthopedic today. I was told that I have a torn muscle by the scapula and rotator cuff.. Waiting for MRI to see if the steroid injection has helped at all. This has all been a terrible night mare for me and my family. i will go back to the ENT for a post op and 4th culture to see if the bacteria grew back, if so I am told the picc line would be necessary. It will be Levaquin and Bactrim that he plans to use. Supposedly it is the only durgs that will kill these specific baterias. I cant imagine the damage that could do. I'd rather have the bacteria than go through the side effects of the drugs.
