Hydromorophone: Dilaudid
Posted over a year ago
How do I find out what medications can be taken and what can't?
since the Doctor has not done it yet.
Bbenson - I just had surgery and was given dilaudid as my post-op pain reliever. I was given one 2mg tab before leaving the hospital. It really didn't do much for me so I took the second tab two hours later and it is better. I am 22 years old and weigh 260 lbs. If I am unable to sleep tonight who much can I take because I know I need to get good rest. I've reached for the doseage per kilogram of my weight and have not found that information on line.
Thanks
Harley116 - I have had ankle surgery and was prescribed dilidid(hydromorphone) I usually take oxcocet for my back and find 2mg of hydromorphone. Is doing nothing for my pain can I take 4 mg safely
Vikinghorn6 - Dilaudid. Is a very safe single medicine opioid which is considered a class 2 controlled substance. Based on its ld50 side effects, etc is the most effective pain killer known to man. Though fentanyl is more powerful I.e. it takes far less to receive the same level of analgesia, fentanyl is far more dangerous. Because of its many serious side effects, you could die from storring, or even handling this drug incorrectly. To me and much of the medical proffession, its risks far outweigh it's benefits. Dilaudid has its own share of side effects, some are serious. You virtually can't accidently, overdose. 84 mg is the ld50 of this drug.since the pills are generally 2mg. One would have to take 42 pills to have a50/50 chance of dying. Conclusion: dilauded is the most powerful opioid single medicine known to man based on risk versus reward. However all of these statements are based on an otherwise healthy person. Only your doctor can& should advise you on the proper use of this very, very, powerful medicine.
Stardom3 - I take 8mg dilauded 4 times a day for a herniated disk that my doctor presribed. my back feels alot loser, and i, not ending up in emergency rooms for bak spasms anymore. Do I risk dieing by taking this stuff.
