Medication for Epilepsy?
Posted over a year ago
anyone know of a good drug for grand mal seizures. I take Depakot er and have joint pain and weight gain. I would love some help.
Percherons - My 13 yr old daughter has epilepsy and was on depakote for a while. She also was experiencing weight gain so the doctor took her off depakote and she is now using Topomax. Topamax is working great for her-No seizures at all and no weight gain or other side effects. She is taking 225mg twice a day. Before she used depakote she was on Trileptal. Trileptal worked for a while (2 years) and then she became immune to it. Hope you find a medication that works well for you.
Mixesconsidered - I never did reach grand mal seizures, but over > 30 years from childhood I have taken a lot of sedatives & recently anti-seizure Lamictal. I have dealt with and become more concerned with mixes & their various effects, & I have taken: ...
Depakene, Depakote, Dilantin, Keppra, Lamitcal, Mysoline, Tegretol, Phenobarbital, Primidone, Tegretol, Valporic acid, generics of these.
If He will let me help anyone, I will.
Mixesconsidered - Due to your daughter's age, with growth and changes being constant now, I hope her Topomax continues work well.
