I am a 40 year old healthy female. I am not overweight, I don't smoke, I don't drink, I have not been on any recent plane trips. The only difference is that I recently started taking Cryselle to regulate my period. I only took it for 6 weeks when I ended up in the ER because I couldn't breath and my heart was racing.
After getting a CT chest scan, the doctors discovered several large blood clots in my lungs. The right ventricle of my heart was also damaged from trying so hard to pump blood into my blocked lungs. The doctors were afraid that my heart was going to stop. I was in the ICU for 5 days. I still have a long recovery ahead of me and will have to take blood thinners for the rest of my life.
