Never ever again will I take companzine. I was given it for nausea at night in ER. First my eye began twitching. I went the next day to my family doctor and told him. He gave me more- told me that was normal. Within 2 hours, I had to go to the emergency room. My eyes were rolling into the back of my head and my neck muscles were spasming so badly (I looked like a gopher ducking from planes). They did not even ask to see insurance or sign in. They started shooting me up with benadryl in both hands. Finally the reaction stopped. This is a dangerous drug/

Mel092703 - Similar thing happened to me. I was given Compazine for severe nausea in the ER. I took it twice. After the second dose, my jaw started getting numb and tingly. I thought I was having a stroke. I drove myself back to the ER. By the time I got there, my jaw had locked and I couldn't move it or my tongue. They shot me up right away with Bendadryl and my jaw released. This drug should be taken off the market!

Jessiejames89 - I was prescribed compazine during a cyclic vomiting episode. I would never take it again. I couldn't swallow and my tongue was swollen and I couldn't stop staring upward. My mom rushed me to the immediate care center near our home where I was given a steriod shot then sent home. It helped for a little.. but my mom started freaking out because by the time I made it home. I couldn't even speak. So she rushed me to scottish rite and the doctors took me in immediately even though there were tons of people in the waiting room. They said that the medicine caused a hormone inbalance in my brain and that I COULD HAVE DIED!!! they had to pump a ton on benadryl through my IV and I had to take it at home for a week! And when the meds would start to wear off I could feel the symptoms returning! NEVER TAKE THIS DRUG!

Wolfpup - This is to anyone out there who is allergic to Compazine, I also was given Compazine for nausea after surgery and had no reaction until the 2nd time I was given Compazine in the doctors office a couple days later. They made me wait in the office for 20mins before they let me go home just to see if I reacted, & set me home, but once at home the same thing happened to me -jaw jurks, eye twitch, by the time I got back to the ER , I started to have body jurks but lucky for me the Nurse on duty's own daughter had a reaction so she knew what to do. My Warning to everyone is what happened to me 3 years later- I was in a bad accident, crushed 5 vertabras backing my back, we had informed the Hospital what I was allergic to, After surgery I was put in a striker frame, & became very nauseous when they flipped me over. So here I was face down , looking at the floor , when I heard the Doctor & nurses Talking about what they were going to give me, and when I asked the Nurses, they said They hadn't changed my meds. I was giving over 10 doses before my family arrived & by then I was seeing thinks, yelling at people, had chills and body convulsions, It took my mom & best friend going to the hospital where the Nurse worked that had treated me before and she came to the hospital where I was & was able to get them to stop giving me a medicine from the same family as compazine. They were mixing it with my pain meds which caused me to hallucinate. When I hear what happen to me & what I was doing all I can say is the last thing I remembered was seeing my daughter floating in a get well balloon. IF YOU ARE ALLERGIC TO COMPAZINE THEN MOST LIKELY YOU ARE ALLERGIC TO THE WHOLE FAMILY, SO BE CAREFUL OF AND MEDS ENDING IN ZINE. I am lucky I didn't die or become a vegetable.
