Ceron Dm Syrup or Rondec Dm Syrup
Posted over a year ago
My 11 year old son was prescribed rondec/ceron to take 1/2 teaspoon by mouth every 6 hours as needed for cough, and now my 2 year old nephew was just prescribed the same medication to take 1/2 teaspoon every 4 hours. What is the proper dosage for a 2 year old and then an 11 year old?
Nana1001 - I know your post was dated over a yr. ago but the dr. just prescribed this med for my 3 yr. old granddaughter...same dosage as your 11 yr. old son! Gave one dosage at 8 p.m. & she was finally able to lay down 8 hrs. later. Her heart was racing & she was in uncontrollable movement that entire time. It was like she was on speed. I find this negligent to give a small child such a medication & I hope you did not give it to your 2 yr. old nephew.
Pepesue - My 5 yr old son was just prescribed this same medicine for his cough yesterday. He is to take 1.25 ml every 6 hours. 1.25 ml is just over 1/4 tsp. I called the Dr. this morning to make sure that the amount I was given him was the right dosage, since I've never seen or heard of given them that little. It's usually at least 1/2 tsp. or more. She assured me that it was the right measurement. He seemed the be the same active little boy he always is with no problems. I reccomend that you give her 1/4 tsp. every 6 hours.
