i was on day 8 of taking bactrim & clindamycin when i noticed Rash on my thigh, abdomen and arms. i was taking these antbx for my Boil which turned out to be + for mrsa. went to urgent care that day & the PA asked me to stop both antbx & gave me a benadryl shot & continued the tablet form every 6 hrs but it didn't do anything. The following day(Sunday the 11th) the Rash was worse! my face & neck was flaming red & from fine pink spots, the rash appeared to be in cluster-red patch & its just all over. Had to take a trip down to the ER & another PA saw me said obviously the benadryl isnt working so they gave me Atarax injection, swallowed a pill of pepcid & prednisone & was sent back home. after 3 or 4 hours the rash from my face & neck disappeared & the following day it was back but not as bad as it was before. Went to see my Primary in the afternoon & she asked me to stop taking the Prednisone & instead place me on Doxycycline twice a day for 7 days to complete the course for my mrsa. i still have the RASH that was caused by Bactrim & i hope i wont be stucked in this situation for long :( The pharmacist at out local drugstore said for drug-induced allergy it may take up to 3 weeks before the Rash totally disappear, sigh, i hope not in my case or for anybody who also has this. Well, stay strong & hang on in there, we'll get through this;) Just stay away from Bactrim from now on!
