Anyone With Hypothyroid Taking Armour Thyroid?
Posted over a year ago
I am considering changing from levoxyl to Armour Thyroid but wanted to check known side effects before doing so. I have been on levoxyl for 4 years and have been plagued with sore muscles, joint pain (mostly back, neck, shoulders) and hair loss. Doctors kept telling me it wasn't related to medication, but I see many others with same problems.
Pproft - Yes, I take Armour and love it. Synthroid left me with sore muscles, hair loss, and fatigue. However, you should have adrenals tested and ferritin levels tested first. A lot of people with adrenal fatigue have problems getting to the right dose because of low cortisol. The same is true for ferritin. You will need your ferritin to be between 70-90. Once I addressed these issues, I feel better than I have in years. Visit www.stopthethyroidmadness.com
Kwiatrose - Thank you so much for your reply. How long have you been taking it. I ask because I've read in other postings that some taking it EVENTUALLY had the hair loss side effect begin again. I will check that website. I would like to research the side effects first. Although, ha ha, I'm sure they can't be any WORSE than levoxyl's!! My doctor seemed reluctant to discuss this alternative but, then again, he was resistant to ANYTHING negative I was telling him.
