Do More and More American's Have ADHD?
Posted over a year ago
I find that I really can't stay on task for almost anything anymore. Its increasingly harder and harder to concentrate with all what's happening in the typical office.
Are we all having some kind of environment induced ADHD? What do you think?
Crittendenlisa - I would investigate other factors first. Are you on any medications and when did you begin to notice your inability to stay focused. An example is that I recently found out from this site that the medication I was on was causing my body to respond with a number of side effects. I did not even link these together until I investigated. One symptom was the inability to focus clearly. I felt I was in a fog and just couldn't get it together, nor did I have the energy and motivation. Medications can cause symptoms of ADD/ADHD and depression. Check with your doctor. My daugther was just diagnosed with ADD and they say that many people go undiagnosed. She went from a D student to an A student in a few weeks. I joke and say that there is an alien that lives among us. I often think I may need that pill too!
Mrs_r_gunter - I have researched this subject; endlessly and tirelessly, as soon as my son was diagnosed. Iwas up against something that I knew nothing about and that was scary!!
ADD/ADHD was present 50 years ago but due to the "Socially Unacceptable" it was not brought up or talked about like it is today. Many, many adults do have this condition but to have it diagnosed, is much harder than having a child diagnosed. It is possible though, they will need alot of information from your past / childhood and need to speak to people closest to you. Unfortunately, ADD/ADHD is not linked to anything in the enviornment, I wish it was...it'd be much easier to deal with and find a "Cure" for if that were the case.
I wish you luck, I hope you are able to figure out if it is this or something else that is causing you to feel this way:)
Sincerely,
R.Gunter
