Actos Swelling in Feet, Shortness of Breath, Weight Gain, Diabetes, Loss of Appetite
Posted over a year ago
Since taking Actos I have had swelling in feet and legs, shortness of breath and weight gain. I quit taking it for a week and some of the swelling went down and I lost about five lbs. I don't want my diabetes to get out of control but neither can I afford to gain weght.
Ammy - There are actually some side effects like dry skin, dry mouth, loss of appetite, etc, caused by this medicine when it interacts with some food and some other drugs. To know more about the effects and interactions visit http://www.internationaldrugmart.com/actos.html
Botekariuki - my doctorjust told me to stop taking actos because it has been found to result in swollen feet
Mg of Il - Today I went to an endocrinologist for the first time. I have Type II diabetes and have been on three diabetic meds, including Actos. This doctor immediately took me off of Actos - reasons: causes bladder cancer (mostly in smokers), causes swelling of feet and legs (varies in severity) and I also read it doesn't help reduce blood glucose (maybe 1%) that much for all its side effects. It converts the sugar into fat that is then stored, making you fatter. Losing weight is hard enough for diabetics. I was changed to Januvia - 45 minutes before breakfast. I hope I start seeing some progress in better numbers, weight loss and especially no swelling in my ankles and legs. I've been wondering why I have leg aches and this doctor, within minutes sized it up.
