I received 10 Kenalog injections on 9/15 in my scalp to help with hair loss. I am 34; the doctor biopsied and said I had scarring alopecia. I asked about cortisone shots and she elected to give me a series to see if it would help. The shots were painful, of course. But I'd read that steroid therapy can help regrow hair, so I remained hopeful. On my return visit a couple of months later, I pointed out the dent to her, and she said it would fill in in a few months. She gave me a 2nd shot of Kenalog in my left buttock.

I got home that night and looked up the drug and its side effects. I found this board. I cried all night.

It's 3 months later and I have one huge, tender indentation in my scalp--it is BALD; how ironic as there was hair there pre-Kenalog. I also have several less deep dents in my scalp. I've also had the yeast infection, but so far I have yet to develop an indentation or discoloration in my buttock. I am wondering if I should see a lawyer because I was not informed of the risks of this drug. And apparently rather than improving the situation it was prescribed for, it made it worse.

Sigh.

I had two cortisone shots in my foot for relief from plantar fascitis. My doctor never warned me of the side effects, nor told me the name of what I was getting (just "cortisone")! I've had THREE periods in ONE month! That is *very* unusual for me, so unusual that it scared me into researching the shots I'd been given. Guess what!? Kenalog...also known as "triamcinolone acetonide."

What's worse is that I'd had numerous (30-40) shots of the SAME STUFF in my scalp for psoriasis in between the time I had the shots in my foot...neither doctor bothered to ask me if I was currently taking anything else, or had any other injections, or at least tell me about the side effects!

I am pumped so full of this stuff that I am scared I'll never stop bleeding. Headaches, back pain, abdominal cramps, abnormal vaginal bleeding, and a yeast infection to top it all off!

BEWARE OF KENALOG!!

I just had a Kenalog shot in my right butt cheek. Im only 21 years old and I had to walk hunched over like an elderly person with arthritis because my lower back hurt so bad. On top of that I developed a yeast infection and on top of that I am having such bad menstrual cramps, and im not supposed to start my period for about 2 weeks. I will never have another kenalog shot again. I asked the doctor what the side effects were and he said there were none. I had the shot for my sinuses, and of course they are cleared up. Thats about the only good thing its done.

I am also a victim of Kenalg shot and I agree with the guest30120 and #30119, please email me at btk13study@yahoo.com
I had a Kenalog injection in my right buttock on 11/10/05 and now I have an indention and discoloration in the area of the shot. At first I thought that it will do away, however few months after it is still there. Also this area is very sore at all times. I am very frustrated with the outcome after the injection. After the shot my period lasted for several weeks, which is very unusual for me. I also have yeast infection on and off. All of these symptoms are due to my Kenolog shot which was administered to me without warning about any of the possible side effects. The shot that I received was given to me for the problem which I never had.

I too had a series of three injections of Kenalog in January & February. I have had itchy skin, a constant yeast infection & the most severe joint pain I have ever had in my life. I have told several doctors & they will not believe that it is a result of those injections. I do believe that I have had a severe allergic reaction to Kenalog & will never let another doctor inject this horrible drug into my body again. I just hope that some day I will feel good again & that this drug has not done permanent damage to my body. Has anyone else had the joint pain? I have read that it can be one of the uncommon reactions to this drug.

I am forty-seven years old; I have received two Kenalog injections in my lumbar spine with x-ray guided fluoroscopy. I also ended up in the Emergency Room with heart palpatations, high blood pressure, profuse sweating, fatigue, insomnia, anxiety, and muscle weakness. I recently had my last injection three weeks ago and will never have another one. Since this injection I have experienced severe bloating/weight gain, fatigue, mood swngs, depression, and anxiety. At the moment I still do have muscle weakness and thought I had the beginnings of a yeast infection. Reading these posts made me feel not so alone. The physicians in the ER made me feel as if my symptoms where in my head and my own physician who performed the injection denies any link between my symptoms and the Kenalog. Each time that I have had these injections, a series of three, I have had to go under general anesthesia and spend several days recovering from the all the side effects of the anesthesia and the Kenalog. My physician never warned me of any of these possible side effects, and when I confronted him about them basically told me it was in my head and ignored me. Has anyone started a class action law suit? Reading these posts where a comfort to me as I felt alone since none of my physicians would acknowledge the link.

I received an injection of Kenalog (40 mg in my right buttocks ) in November 2004. I had some sort of of rash under my eyes. The shot worked. The rash came back in February 2005 and again I was given an injection of Kenalog (1cc in my right buttocks). It was after this second shot that everything changed for me. The first obvious side effect to be directly identified with Kenalog was the Huge hole in my butt. I had Many other side effect for weeks and months to come that I didn't realize was the Kenalog till just this past week. I have had terrible night sweats for months, I have had a chronic yeast infection that no matter how much diflucan I take it doesn't go away. But the worst side effect is that my resting heart beat has been about 15 beats per minute more that it ever was and shoud be. I feel like there has been as excess of adrenaline running through my body 24/ 7. Hard to be inside my own sking these days. I also recently started to lose my hair. I just last week finally couldn't take the way I feel so, I went to see an endocronologist who said it is the reaction of the Kenalog. And told me this could last a year.
Has any one else out there experienced a rapid heartbeat and unbearable anxiety?????
