I had a Kenalog injection in two trigger points (one on the right side of my spine in the shoulder blade area and one on the right side of my spine in the lower neck) on March 27, 2008. Prior to the shot, I was suffering from numbness in my right arm and leg, shooting pains and loss of motor skills in my right arm, severe muscle spasms in my back and neck, tightening in my chest and back, severe migraines, night sweats and hot flashes, vertigo/dizziness, shortness of breath, heart palpitations and chest pains to name a few. Since the injection, I have noticed an increase of heart palpitations, dizziness, severe migraines, blurry vision, excessive weight gain, severe hot flashes, tiredness, and have had trouble sleeping. In the last two weeks, I have noticed a quarter sized indentation where I received the shot in my shoulder blade area and a baseball sized indentation where I received the shot in my lower neck area. I was not made aware of ANY side effects to this shot and will DEFINITELY not get another one. It is only a month later and I have not felt any improvement in my symptoms that I had before or after the shot. I received the shot, as my doctor felt it would help with what they think is a spazzed muscle in my back shoulder blade area near the spine. The doctor who gave me the shot stated if it didn't help, they would try giving me a cervical epidural, which has its own set of scary risks! I am beginning to think I will have to live with my symptoms for the rest of my life!

I received the Kenalog shot in my right shoulder for joint pain that other meds could not resolve on September 13, 2007 (tomorrow will be one week ago) After the first 48 hours of injection I did experience the "typical" steriod type side effects being facial flushing, hot flashes, minor anxiety and slight insomnia on the first couple of nights after the injection. I have just recently noticed a hot/burning sensation on the outside of my right ankle, almost like I applied icy hot to that area. Never before have I experienced this, although it is not painful, it is a weird feeling. As I was first reading all of the other postings I immediately became overwhelmed with anxiety because I too asked my doctor the side effects and as all of the others have stated he said "One percent of patients get an infection in the injection site". That's it, he never said one single side effect. My question to all is that I haven't read anyones posting that states an onset time of the side effects they are experiencing. Am I to still expect more side effects? Has the Kenalog not be in my body long enough for the side effect to become apparent? Please advise! Thanks in advance for sharing such personal information with me. BTW- my shoulder pain has resolved for the time being but because of the now known REAL side effects of Kenalog- If I was to have to take this shot again to keep the pain from coming back- I choose the pain. My heart goes out to everyone who has had even the slightest negative side effect from this drug! LJONES/VA

I was given an injection of Kenalog one week ago. By the time I got home I felt extreme fatigue and was forced to go to bed. I had not been nervous about the injection & it was pretty much pain-free. The injection was given for two herniated discs & sciatica. Within the next couple of days new symptoms appeared -- fast & irregular heartbeat, headaches and excessive urination. I also feel unusually anxious. I suffer from chronic fatigue syndrome and wonder if that condition had something to do my onging symptoms. My medical knowledge is very limited, but I wonder if this medication could cause changes in my adrenal function. When I saw my orthopaedic physician assistant on Friday I mentioned the symptoms and she didn't seem concerned & said maybe I had been retaining fluid --- which is not the case. I am 59 years old & I know my body! Although I have been eating well, I have lost three pounds. I am so confused. I have also had sweats, similar to hot flashes. Do you all think these symptoms could be related to the injection. I have a call in to the pain management doctor who did the injection, but I guess he will just blow me off, too. This is awful. He wants me to have another injection next Monday. Right now, I do not think I am going to follow though -- but will just deal with the pain the best I can. !

I had two cortisone shots in my foot for relief from plantar fascitis. My doctor never warned me of the side effects, nor told me the name of what I was getting (just "cortisone")! I've had THREE periods in ONE month! That is *very* unusual for me, so unusual that it scared me into researching the shots I'd been given. Guess what!? Kenalog...also known as "triamcinolone acetonide."
What's worse is that I'd had numerous (30-40) shots of the SAME STUFF in my scalp for psoriasis in between the time I had the shots in my foot...neither doctor bothered to ask me if I was currently taking anything else, or had any other injections, or at least tell me about the side effects!
I am pumped so full of this stuff that I am scared I'll never stop bleeding. Headaches, back pain, abdominal cramps, abnormal vaginal bleeding, and a yeast infection to top it all off!
BEWARE OF KENALOG!!

i reciecved a 40 miligram of kenolog in my right hip about 3 months ago. About 2 weeks later i started to get a dry mouth, severe anxiety, loss of appitite, horrible night sweats, hot flashes, weight loss, throwing up, not seeing as well, dentation on right hip, chapped lips, tremendence amount of energy, agitation, no pain, basically flying high!!! This injection was for my allergies. I had no idea that all of these things were due to the kenalog. I thought that i was possibly loosing my mind. I started to think that my hormones had gone hay wire or that my adrenaline was out of wack, i just coulnt figure it out all these things that were happening to me, and then it dawned on me that it could be the kenalog so i called my allergist and asked about it and he said yes it can give you anxiety. He then prescribed some pills for me for relief. Oh yeah!! I forgot that i got infected hair particles on my face which turned into staff infection!!I had no idea that it was also caused from the kenalog but it was, all of it was!! I was really really scared!! I was also very aggressive. I had it all and now i have---- so much neck pain. I have had two doctors say never get one again. Yes it did help my allergies!! Oh did i forget i had horrible axiety too??

I got a 60mg Kenalog injection in my neck for two digenerated cervical disks. Two days later I got Imsonia, Anxiety, swelling and pain in my abdomen (bloaded), gastrointestinal distress, nightsweats, dry mouth, dry throat, hot flashes, more appetite, more frequent urination and the area of the injection is swollen. I saw an Endocrynologist who tested my hormone levels. My natural Cortisol Hormone production got shot down from the Kenaloginjection. The Doctors are telling me that it will be 12 weeks until I should be back to normal. Nobody (not one doctor) told me about those sideeffects beforehand. How horrible is that. PLEASE think about it, before you get a Kenalog Injection.

Im also a victim of the Kenalog shot. I was having pain due to what fibromyalgia. I couldn't see my regular doctor because she is a great doctor and its very hard to get an appointment with her so I took an appointment with another doctor at the same office because I needed relief from the pain soon. This doctor said the steroid shot would kill the pain right away so after the visit with him the nurse gave me the shot. Ever since then I haven't been the same. My hormones are all out of whack, with 2 long periods a month , bad migraines, hot flashes. Not to mention the ugly deformity I have from the sight wear I got the shot on my butt. The dent started small and is now bigger. Im so upset. I had no plans of becoming a model or anything but this is my body and now I feel uncomfortable in the nude!!! Im outraged and hurt. If I knew that this would happen I would have never excepted this stupid shot that didn't even really help me!!!! I have self esteem issues like most women now I have to add this pointless deformity on top of everything!!!
