I'm pretty sure I'm getting stomach pains from getting this. The symptoms describe an ulcer but I'm hoping the pain will go away.. I've stopped taking it but everytime I eat or drink something I feel a small pain right below my chest. I'm going to stick to eating healthier foods for the next week and if it doesn't go away I'll be seeing a doctor. I hope it's just from not eating anything and taking this medicine.

I have been on this antibiotic for pneumonia for a week. I already have a possible ulcer and have a prescription for zantac. I am on 100mg BID for two weeks. Since taking this medication my ulcer has become much much worse with frequent heartburn and a lot of drowsiness/lethargy. I feel like I float through my day and am confused and using the wrong words a lot, and just not paying full attention to anything. I have a constant pain right under my sternum that flares up and a lot of mid to lower back pain, esp. at night. I have had a headache for the last four days. I did some research and found that ANTACIDS SHOULD NOT BE TAKEN WITHIN TWO HOURS OF DOXYCYCLINE!!! Bummer for me, since I have been drinking Mylanta like it was my only source of hydration.

I was taking doxycycline for acne and i have been taking it for about two months now. I started to feel nauseaous all the time and on some occasions, i threw up for no reason and without having any food in my stomach! This made my life crazy! I was irritable alot and always feeling sick! I now have to have a biopsy- a tube into my stomach- to find out what is wrong with my stomach. I might have an ulcer. Doxycycline is the reason for this!

After taking 100mg per day for about 6 weeks (travelling in malaria-endemic parts of Sth America) I developed severe chest pains overnight one night and have had pain on swallowing since (like an ulcer). Have stopped the medication and symptoms are improving gradually after 4 days.

Is this normal, I have been on Doxycycline for 5 days for a urinary tract infection and from day one i had a sore throat with swollen glands, extreme anxiety and feeling pretty ill, yes it has helped my infection a lot but I have now developed very bad pains in my chest like extreme indigestion and finding it hard to swallow anything, even water, without it hurting??
Im thinking about talking to the Doctor Im feeling pretty rough at the moment and not too sure whether this is normal or not!!
