Oct. 16, 2008 I have been having severe headaches, pain in my ears, dizziness, confusion and recently heaviness in my chest and short of breathe. I have been taking Nasonex for about 8 months. I thought I was having heart problems and went to the ER. I am now waiting for results of my 2nd Stress Test. After researching, I find that most of my symptoms may be caused by the use of Nasonex. I will suffer with itchy eyes and sneezing. Will post my results after a few days without the Nasonex.

I was prescribed nasonex, and an antibiotic for an infection with terrible stuffiness and getting so dried out at night that my uvula would swell up, but go back to normal during the day..... That got better by 4th day of antibiotics, but I would feel dizzy , lightheaded and nauseous a few hours after using the nasonex. The one nostril burned, and then bled when i blew it. Day 5 and my uvula is covered in white spots as well as the back of my throat..... thrush i believe. Never had thrush before, but sure the nasonex caused it.

Wow, that's all I can say. I started suffering with allergies pretty bad this March. Terrible headaches and ended up with two sinus infections. My doctor, after doing a sinus x-ray, sent me to an allergist who did a scratch test and a needle prick test with 28 shots. I am allergic to dust, dust mites, some trees and cats. He said that I should just do Mucinex and Nasonex. I've been noticing that my pulse rate is up and flutters. I wasn't sure what would cause that. I monitor my bp pretty regularly since having to get off of bp medicine due to a severe adverse reaction from that. I just assumed I was going to have to go back on bp med to control rapid pulse even thought the bp was in the normal range. This whole medicine thing is maddening. I am going to try and not take it tomorrow and see what happens. The weird thing is I use the Nasonex in the morning but the rapid pulse doesn't show up until the evening. Could Nasonex still be the cause??

I took this and a few other nasal sprays they may be great for some people but i just got migraines like crazy, sensitive to the light the noise all I could do was crawl up in my room all quiet and dark and cry it was unbearable. My doctor keeps trying to prescribe them to me but i always refuse, i'd rather be itchy and sneeze than have that pain.

Has anyone experienced withdrawal symptoms after stopping the use of Nasonex? At the top of this week I finished my 2nd bottle and decided I wouldn't refill a 3rd. I've since been fatigued, depressed, and achy. I haven't changed anything else so I'm attributing the ill feelings to Nasonex

I have been a Nasonex for only a couple of days... I have stopped because I have a terrible ringing in my ears...which I have always had but now it is 10 times worse. I also have headaches, sore throat and nervousness. Now that I have stopped I have worse congestion than before. Has anyone else experienced these side effects?

Yes,
I slowly developed oral thrush over the course of the last 6 months since starting Nasonex. I blamed it on my Flovent, so I stopped the Flovent about 2 months ago, and the oral thrush just kept getting worse even after treatment with anti-fungals. So I stopped the Nasonex (the only other drug I take) 3 days ago, and now my oral thrush and burning in my mouth and hard palate is totally gone away, I feel tons better. I also, since taking Nasonex, have gained quite a bit of weight in my lower belly and I am suspicious of Cushings. I will not take Nasonex ever again. I did not have this problem with Flonase, just I developed a resistance to Flonase.

I'm surprised I haven't seen this one here. After taking 2 sprays in each nostril for a month, I woke up with a swollen throat and hard to swallow. Thinking it was strep throat I went to doc and right away he said, "you have thrush". It was not a fun thing to have, it even went down my esophagus. The treatment for that was not fun either, sucking on big pills 5x a day for a week, they left the roof of my mouth sore. I think the manufacturer should pay for my side effect treatment, I was just an unsuspecting seasonal allergy sufferer.

For only three days I have been taking 2 squirts of Nasonex in each nostril once a day. At the end of day 3, I have developed terrible hand tremors (like Parkinson's) whenever I pick up a glass of water or something heavy.
I know it's from the Nasonex because I didn't have this ever before!
It's very scary. Also, I have had really confusing, freaky dreams at night.
It's going in the garbage!!!

I used it on and off for about two years, and recently started taking it again due to allergies... I use it sporadically, when I feel I need it. Anyway, I have had a problem about 3 times since the beginning of the year with horrible congestion, and tightness in my chest and lots of flem. It's like a sinus infection without the fever, that turns into bronchitis, but it's not that. I realized over the weekend, that this happens every time I have horrible allergies and use Nasonex. It takes weeks to get over the symptoms. I have decided after reading all of the other posts to NOT take it anymore...

the day after I used NASONEX nasal spray I started to feel like an increase in pressure on both of my ears. I just kept of swallowing believing it might just be caused by pressure which can be relieved by doing so. Then I noticed that my voice sounds like a robot voice, my hearing suddenly got worse which was so noticeable to me,though currently I am using hearing aids on both of my ears, it was so abrupt that in a matter of 2 nights of using NASONEX NASAL SPRAY it is so hard for me to hear somebody in front or near me even when I am wearing both of my hearing aids.I started to have these symptoms the day after using NASONEX NASAL SPRAY. I have been using loratadine and I don't know if it has any drug reaction with it.

Had sinus surgery that was a success in Feb. 2008. ENT said to use Nasonex, 2 squirts ea. nostril, twice a day for the rest of life. After one month I started having tremors in body and my hands would not stop shaking. I bought sinus buster over internet & think I will stop using the Nasonex.

My daughter was put on Nasonex last year for mild fall allergies, which had just been diagnosed. She ended up with heart palpitations, shortness of breath, anxiousness and night terrors. Once I finally made the connection with Nasonex , after three weeks, we had her stop using it and she was fine. During that time she hardly slept was afraid to play soccer because of the heart palps and ended up having a heart ultrasound because our doctor was so concerned. We since use an over the counter med on bad allergy days and she uses an over the counter menthol inhaler during soccer games. For us these alternatives help enough to make up for the bad side effects of Nasonex. By the way, our doctor doesn't agree, we came up with alternatives by talking to other parents. My doctor still keeps asking if we need a refill even though I've insisted she will never take it again.

I've used Nasonex for at least 5+ years now. I thought it was wonderful. BUT now I realize that some of my other health problems may be due to Nasonex. For years now I am tired, shortness of breath (which is getting worse) and chest pains. Has anyone else have these symptoms?

I have been on Nasonex for approx 7 days now, I was at the gym last night and my chest felt ooh so tight, am coughing as bad as I always have and I cannot taste or smell now(no flavor, nor senses). My nose is running all of the time and I do not fancy getting any more side effects so Nasonex from today is going bye bye, never mind drugs are for mugs, but 'Nasonex is for MUGS'..... don't feel like being a hamster or a guinea pig, why prescribe and not remove from the market a product with obviously so many downsides.

I supposedly got a nasal bacterial infection two years ago. 4 months ago I was put on Nasonex even though the doctor still didn't know if my 'infection' was bacterial (tried several antibiotics kept coming back) or fungal, or viral.

The first six weeks I got colds for the 1st time. Hey! the Nasonex was smell free. Went to see doc after 6weeks. Ran out of Nasonex. Was prescribed more only to get the Spanish version Nasomet. Just a different brand name I was told. It had an awful light nail polish smell...like acetone. Since using it at the prescribed lower dose my nose is bleeding and clotting and hardening or the nostrils. Burning, whistling smaller nasal passages.

When I had the original infection a had a week of sinus infection headache. Now I ger persistent creeping sinus headache...not a full one. ut it never seems to go away. I'm now scared of Nasomet/Nasonex and want to come off it.

I took Nasonex because I have a post nasal drip, and allergies. After taking for about 1 week, I had a raw throat and my voice became weak and hoarse. I stopped Nasonex last week and my voice is getting stronger every day. Also, I have the feeling of pressure in my ears. Anyone experience voice problems while on this?

I've used Nasonex for the past several years and it has worked effectively to help with sinus decongestion. But recently, I've had trouble sleeping through the night, usually waking around 3:00 am and having difficulty falling back asleep. I'm going to discontinue usage and see if that has any effect in my sleeping pattern.

I used nasonex for a month feb 2006 and experienced terrible insomnia and palpatations at night and i also had optic neuritis in my left eye. Is the ON to do with tiredness from not sleeping. All stopped once nasonex stopped. Taken beconase since, however i have had a sinus infection and optic neuritis again april 2007. Is there a relationship between corticosteroids and optic neurits?

i used nasonex as needed for alergies for about six months. i was having migranes for about two weeks. i dont think i used nasonex the whole two weeks. one morning i woke up and i couldnt see out of my right eye and my head fealt terrible. i hadnt been sleeping well, so i took an ibuprophen and had a cup of coffee and 20 minutes later, my sight had come back. the next morning i had the same problem, so i took and ibuprophen and waited. i waited all day and finaly at about 8 at night i went into the emergency room. i have been tested for every disease out there and i had no answers for why i lost my vision in the right eye. about six months later (when i very rapidly lost most of my vision in the left eye) i was diagnosed with chronic steroid dependent autoimmune optic neuritis. i have wondered thinking back if the nasonex was responsible for the steroid dependancy, but i guess there is no way to be sure. if anyone has anything to tell me or a simmilar story to tell me email me at ******

My 13 year old daughter has been taking Nasonex for 3 days. Yesterday morning she woke up with a red cheek but it went away. This morning she woke up with her face itching and looking like sun burn. I am assuming it is the Nasonex but can't see the doctor till later today.

I have lost my sense of smell since May 2005. I went to the Dr. on May 24th ,I was given a prescription of Nasonex to take twice daily one sqirt per nostral, and shortly after that witin a 10 day period, I lost my sense of smell. The ENT specialist was concerned at how quickly I lost my sense of smell. He ordered a cat scan for me to see if there is any blockage. Upon reading on this website, about another person that has had the same side effect I am beginning to believe that Nasonex could be the cause. I have stopped taking this as of today. Last dosage was this morning.

My daughter has been on routine nasonex for months for her (non-acute) asthma. She has been experiencing constipation, problems urinating and headaches. I'm not sure whether to blame these symtoms on this drug or more probably the guafinex she is also taking. Isn't it nice that modern pharmacueticals give us choices?

I have been taking 2 squirts per day, per nostril of Nasonex for 6 weeks now. After one week, I noticed that I had 'air-hunger' (ie desire to breathe very deeply and finding breathing unsatisfying) and the urge to yawn repeatedly. This has got worse up to the current day and I have found that I have to stop using Nasonex as breathing has become distressing. Got checked out by my doctor who says I am physiologically ok.

I meant to say that "ocular" and nasal steroids can become systemic if taken for long periods of time. Of course, oral steroids *are* systemic. Duh!

I've also had more trouble seeing after using 1 spritz of Nasonex in each nostril once a day (for several months). I've also felt progressively more tired. Most concerning, and my reason for being here, is that I developed a Rosacea-like condition. My dermatologist dx'd me with mild Rosacea, which is unbelievable to me, as my family line has nothing like this in it. When I did a Net search on Rosacea, it mentioned that steroids can cause this condition. Also, Rosacea is progressive and can damage the eyes and even cause loss of vision. So, if you suspect that this nasal steroid is affecting your vision, I'd recommend getting off of it. Oral and nasal steroids can become systemic if taken for long periods of time. This is common knowlege in medical circles. I took myself off of Nasonex today and am already starting to feel better.
