I am now really nervous reading all these responses about Yasmin. I started on YAZ about 18 months ago and had to stop because of constant bleeding. My doctor switched me to Yasmin about a year ago. The bleeding stopped and everything was fine for a long time. I have started developing melasma on my upper lip. Yuck!! Looking back, I think I have been kind of depressed too the last few months (and that is SO not me!). I wonder if it is the Yasmin. I am 37, married with three kids and am done having kids. I am wondering if I should stop Yasmin, hoping my melasma will clear up, but what do I do next??? My husband and I are definitely done having babies!!

Has anyone experienced withdrawal symptoms after stopping the use of Nasonex? At the top of this week I finished my 2nd bottle and decided I wouldnt refill a 3rd. I've since been fatigued, depressed, and achy. I havent changed anything else so I'm attributing the ill feelings to Nasonex

within two days of taking metronidazole for a gum infection i had horrible pins and needles the worst crushing headace ive ever had anxiaty panic attacks and couldt sleep for a week this medicine is the nastiest side effects ive ever had .i just got back from hospital where ive been for two days as my symtoms were so bad docs thought the infection in my gum had traveled to my brain, but after a ct scan, lumber puntcture, blood tests all came back clear they decided it was the tablets. it will take me a long time to get over this , i would advise anyone with a history of panic attacks, depresion or headaces not to take metronidazole.

I am so glad I found your comments regarding Lactaid. Although I haven't experienced the vomiting most of you have mentioned, I have suffered the last few weeks or so with diarrhea and nausea. I found drinking water has kept the thoughts of vomiting at bay. However,I have gone to bed in the fetal position spoken about and slept. When I began Lactaid, I purchased the "best" brand. It was working very well. After the first bottle, I bought one of the generic brands. Now, I realize the mistake I have made. At first I thought they weren't mixing well with the "hotflash" medication I take, but after elimination testing, that isn't the case. Reading your blogs have just verified my pain and my need to either go back to the "best" brand, or stop taking Lactaid altogether. Thank you and have a painless day!

I did a post a few days ago--but must add to it. I have SLE, MS, CAD, HBP, having 5 stents, asoteoporosis, arachnoiditis, cerebritis/vasculitis from lupus, chronic pain(fibramyalgia) and a bucn more that ill give u sum idea. I am also a RN for28 years and KNOW what medications can do. I mena come on lets face it--if we ALL read THORIUGHLY all the inserts with ANY medication--NONE of us wud take any of it. Even ADVIL and ASA have horrifc side effect.!! I saw my doctor yesterdat afternoon due to this rash--not my typical lupus reash---doesn't look like discoid lupus, it begins on my chest goes uop my face then all down my backk then gradually works its way down my leg---it gets rasm, macular and some some end up with a papular looking area. The PAIN from if is almost as bad as the itch from the rash. I have had shingles and it is simular to that pain. I have been putting topical steroid base creams all over to no avail. I begged my doctor for the KENOLOG shot and discussed GREATLY the side effects: I have had a hysterectomy so that is nothing, it cause cause a pshychosis, depression, panic racing thots insomnia--babsically ALL the side effects everyone has mentioned---but IT WORKS -I JUST GOT UP AND THIS DIFFIGURING DISCUSTING RASH ALL OVER IS ALMOST 90% GONE!!!! Like I said I have been on steroids most of my life--and I KNOW the side effects of them--PERIOD. Educated patients READ the inserts and ask thier docotrs---all meds have risks but the questio is does the risk outweigh the benefit t
??????????? I am on a medation that has you with an increase of 10-15% increase of having an heart attack--which I have had two--but I CHOOSE to take it becuz the benefit outweighs the risks. I understand 100% all the complaints concerns and everything, attorneys will NOT take cases where the medication is used and adminierted the correct way--esp. when the side effets are clearly listed. Doctors are TOO freakin bust these days to sit and TALK and explain every side effect with each of their patients. Does each of you know that the average physician HAS TO SEE at least 60---yes sixty patients A DAY???? That is actually in their contract--thata approximately 7 and a half minutes ith each of us.!!!!!!! Make a list of all ur concerns, questions etc for the doctor and I do this ---I manuaver my chair to in feonrt of the door and I DO NOT LT THE DOCTOR OUT until he has answered ALL my concerns---yea they get mad tell me I can't do that--and my response is is IF YOU can make me wait in ur office lobby for more than an hour--I will do what I hve to do to get proper CARE!!! Shuts most of them up. But I am lucky I do have 6 of the most careling and cmpassionate physicians--I have lucked up--I have had my share of "stupid" doctors but-hey WE are the patient-=-go to another one until ya get one ya like. If you go to other wbsite about medicicne there are many more complaints and unhappy patients with medications they take. But I understand where all of US are coming from---Doctors are no diffenret than us--and they are not GOD--they make mistakes and as long as they don't KNOWING harm you---or commit fraud--no lawsuit happening---now sueing the MAKER of kenalog MAY be a possiblity( my sisiter is an attorny) thats her advice and itd have to be a class action suit and its kinda sad--patients don't ever get much in things like this but its worth a shot!!!

I finally don't feel so alone. I got into poison ivy on June 1. On June 12th I finally went to my md to get something to take for it to go away. I had been treating it with calamine, topical stuff and taking Benadryl.... She gave me a shot which actually made it all go away within two hours. BUT, she also loves giving out pills, so she gave me the Dexpak. I took it for 7 days and my heart was beating uncontrollably. I didn't get REM sleep for 5 straight days. I took myself off. Cold turkey, yeah, I know you're not supposed to do that, but that stuff was killing me. So finally after having a meltdown in my office at home, my husband and I went back to her to see what she could do for me. She said oh, just go home, drink some wine and get some sleep.
I went home, drank two glasses of wine (which after doing research is NO combination with with high powered drug and she should have known better!!) Took a really hot bath, tried to get sleep. My husband took off work for three days to try to get me sleep.... finally we went to the ER because my heart wouldn't stop pounding so fast. The ER drugged me with some serious sedatives. I had a reaction to those and had a panic attack in the ER, so their solution: strap her down (bruised my wrist) and take her to a psychiatric unit for "symptoms of schzitophernia." So I was basically in a room with a bunch of people that can't control themselves. I did get 8 hours of sleep and regained all cohesive control. I was still groggy from the sedatives, but I knew what was going on. The nurses were the rudest people I have EVER been in contact with. No wonder the patients were in fits! After 5 hours of me and my husband (who was downstairs with my Mom) they finally released me. I talked to the discharge nurse and she said that if I sign a form releasing myself "against medical advice" that insurance might not pay for it. I said, are you kidding me? I would rather pay to get out of here than sit here one more minute with these people.

It was the worst medical experience I've EVER had. I have since fired my md. She doesn't know it though because she hasn't BOTHERED to call to check on me!! So, I am not going to a psychologist and my obgyn to make sure those steroids didn't screw up my brain or my endocrine system as we are trying to have a baby. Yeah, that was my first thought too... why would my MD who KNOWS we are trying to conceive do this to me?

Whew. Anyway, so my advice is to make sure you have someone around you at all times that can monitor your heart beat and write down EVERYTHING that happens in case you have a situation like mine. I journal all the time, so it was easy for me to explain to the shrink.

Okay, good luck out there!!!

A couple of years ago had chest pains then i a saw cardiologist, I was fine, Norvac side affect. If your legs hurt check to see if your ankles are swollen it they are you are retaining water. Water retention= water around your heart, let your doctor know right away, get additional water pill to remove excess fluid. Use to be in the Medical Profession. If in doubt call Dr. and Pharmist(knows better than Dr., he knows meds)

I had been very pleased with Yaz regarding my period. It has been much lighter the past 9 months or so I have been on it. However, lately, my hair is has falling out more and more. I was almost in tears after brushing it tonight after getting out of the shower. I have read this is often a side effect of birth controls in general, but am wondering if anyone else on Yaz has noticed it??

I've been taking Adderall XR 30mg per day for two years. I've gained 20 pounds and feel terrible. My doctor keeps telling me he doesn't know why I'm gaining weight. That is making me feel even worse!!! Can anyone tell me what's going on??? I also take Wellburtin & Lexapro. Before I took any of these medications, I asked the doctor if I could gain weight from them. He told me that these particular drugs do not cause weight gain. The thing that's so frustrating is, I was put on these drugs for anxiety and depression (results of an abusive marriage). How can I begin to feel better about myself if I'm gaining lots of weight? That just kills it for me. Can anyone out there offer some advice? My doctor won't even let me take an appetite supressant. I take Adderall in the A.M. If I want, I can go right back to bed and sleep again. I also get hunger pains about 2 hours later!!! Help!!

I’ve had two goes at taking Yasmin first time at 23, I had all of the above symptoms a breakdown and big anxiety attack which has never happen to me before so that came out of the blue, I was suspicious about the pill so I stoped taking it after that.

But silly me about at now 25 years old second time around I thought maybe it was me and not the pill but the second time has really confirmed it for me. I’ve suffered worse depressed suicidal thoughts sadness and not to mention no interest in sex all… these things have really affected my relationship with my partner and friends.

I am angry with myself for trying it again worst mistake… but now I guess its confirmed for me ill never be putting any type of birth control pill in my body again its not natural and not good for you.

And I will also mention I was on a totally different pill during high school because I had very bad period pain and my doctor recommended it and looking back now, I was at that time a very hostile and depressed girl everyone thought I was going through teenage adolescence and worried about me… but I now believe it was the pill because I never understood why I hated the world so much at school. Now I know that I will never put my children on these types of contraceptives and I hope other mothers think twice.

Prescribed for UTI, 1 pill 2x day, actually Bactrim DS, which is 800/160 tabs. After 1 dose, next morning severe migraine with vomiting, nausea, chills, (I didnt take temp, but probably had a fever), loss of appetite, finally went to sleep for a few hours and was jarred awake by a bad dream (unusual for me) and couldnt go back to sleep thought I had drank to much caffeine. Had tight chest, but thought that was linked to my 130/90 BP...I thought I was having a heart attack. Followed by sleeplessness last night. Today, after 3 doses, I woke with a stiff neck and had a headache this morning which was made better by 2 tylenol. Went to my GP to get on some BP meds. He must've thought I was crazy, but I wasnt leaving until I got something to make my chest feel better and theorectically lower my BP. I thought all these side effects were just me, but apparently not. I wish everyone the best in finding a better, safer treatment than this one.

It`s very important to educate yourself when it comes to medications.

When I saw people close to me suffer I had to find out why and I am quite sure that it had to to with side effects.

I started to do my own "research" in 2003 and it continues to this day.

One of the groups of medications that I have looked at is quinolone antbiotics to which group Levaquin belongs.

Most medications in this group have similar side effects. For more information go to:

Please visit www.fqresearch.org and www.fqvictims.org (?).

Also search on Google for "floxed" or "floxies". That´s what people call themselves when they suffer from side effects.

I would also recommend Stephen Frieds interesting book "Bitter Pills".

Medications are needed sometimes, but not to the extent that they are prescribed today!

Let me just say that like so many other women on this site I have been stressing over the predicament that Mirena has put us in. Yes, I was warned about having not had children that I am not a good candidate for it but I am in my early twenties and don't want children any time soon and I had been on Depo shots for as long as my Dr. would let me, so don't judge. The fact of the matter is that for the past two years since the insertion I have wondered what the hell is wrong with me!!! I have been extremely moody, depressed, and have had several strange symptoms including headaches, acne, weight gain, and the overall feeling of someone in the nineties instead of being 22. I have never been a lazy person or someone prone to acne. I have been to the doctor several times and she keeps saying it's not Mirena; I'm not convinced!!! I have not had a menstrual cycle since I started depo five years ago, you would think I would be a happy person but I'm not. I don't know what to do, I'm afraid to take it out and be wrong about it and get pregnant. But on the other hand I'm severely depressed about the weight gain and the more and more I exercise and diet doesn't matter. I have gained over 20 pounds and gone up 2 dress sizes, because of this I don't feel like having sex because I'm tired or I don't feel sexy. My marriage is suffering from my mood swings, lack of libido, and not wanting to do fun things people my age do. I've lost several friendships by not wanting to leave the house, I feel like it's starting to take over my entire life. I thought it was just me having these problems but the more I read other peoples posts the more I feel like I'm not alone. You don't have to be forty and have 3 kids to know what it feels like to have symptoms like this and be told over and over it's just in your head. Thanks to every one who wrote on this web site, it's comforting to know you're not the only one having problems. When I get it removed I will post again with how it has changed.

Two and a half hours ago I took Levaquin 750mg for the first time. After about 45 minutes for some reason I started coughing, like i had something caught in my throat. Didn't think much of it because we were eating but then on the way home I started itching, and my mouth started feeling numb. It actually started feeling like I had been to the dentist and had novacane shot in my lower lip. When I got home I went and looked in the mirror and my face was actually swollen like I was feeling it. I don't think I will take the other two pills doc gave me for a bladder infection.

i've been on this med (28) for 4 months and have: gained 15lbs, severe cramping, mood swings, depression, loss of sexual interest, heavy bleeding, when i am on my period, bladder infections(when never before), my breast grew with the 1st month of use and the pain then was so unbearable that even now they are sometimes so tender for a whole week before my period starts that it hurts to shower! i say this pill is somewhat effective because i was bleeding months on end and so far this pill has somewhat helped; however, when i am on my period, the first 2 days are really heavy and recently i seem to be starting my period before i am done using the pink pills. . . i don't want to be bleeding abnormally, but i can not afford to be gaining more weight or feeling depressed all the time. . .

I am a 56 y/o female who started on Fosamax last Sunday. I have a dx of osteopenia. I followed the directions of taking pill with full glass of water and remained upright for 30 minutes before having anything to eat. I was fine on Sunday but on Monday I woke with SEVERE bone pain! My whole rib cage, back, knees and heels were hurting so bad. It felt like I had pain in every bone in my body. I could not take in a full deap breath as my rib cage was hurting so bad. I could not bend or turn without terrible pain. My energy level was zero. I immediately called my doctor who told me to hold the Fosamax (ya think?) and ordered Vit D lab levels. Apparently when you Vit D levels are off (don't know if too high or too low) you can suffer this bone pain. I am awaiting the results. The pain is better today and I was told it takes 5 days to get out of your system. I only wish I had done my homework and found this site before taking this poison. I have to say I'm a registered nurse and know that ALL medications have side effects and everyone responds to meds differently. Some side effects subside as your body gets use to it and some can experience severe allergic reactions. But it's important to weigh the risk vs the benifit. I would rather deal with osteopenia in another way. So my search begins for alternatives to Fosamax for good bone health. Has anyone had good results with other supplements/meds?

I posted this under uterine diseases also, I have an issue with the way my kidney empties, is this dangerous, the two people in our family that have it are men, i am female, the reason they found it was because i couldn't urinate due to pain in the bladder and my flank area because my bladder was so backed up should i have this treated by a urologist or a nephrologist? not sure who to see as i said previously i see my pcp soon. thanks in advance.
