I have been on warfarin for 5 months after a pe during pregnancy or my c. section they think?
They want to take me off in sep i am afraid so afraid it will happen again. How do i know my clots have gone as doctors don't check this, i feel like a ticking time bomb and that i could die any time. I was in a mother and baby unit for 3 months with a severe anxiety disorder and depression due to this please help i live in fear and doctors wont listen. before they even found my clots they sent me away 3 times saying i was out of breath because i was anxious, then they did a ct scan saying it was fine then called me in a week later to say they had found a small clot, then all of a sudden it was 2 then lots of little ones.
From my research (but I am not a doctor), most women whose PEs or DVT's happened as a result of surgery or childbirth (or both) should not have to remain on a warfarin therapy after 4-6 months. I would ask for another round of CT scans before getting off of the warfarin, and then CT scans every few months for the first year or so. Most importantly, try not to stress about it. Stress makes everything worse. Getting off of warfarin means the doctors think you are better. I am on it for life, and I don't even give it a second thought.
