Any antidote available for avelox

Posted at 3:32 PM on Sep 15, 2008 by hehnen, #7555
Does anyone have information on how to cleanse the body of avelox and/or reverse some of the adverse symptoms it produces? My daughter took avelox several months ago for a sinus infection and is still suffering as a result. She has experienced anxiety and depression and and I believe these were a result of taking avelox. Thanks

I'm sorry your family is having to go through this. I was "floxed" by levaquin, another antibiotic in the fluorquinolone family. Unfortunately, time is pretty much the only antidote. I, myself, took magnesium which may or may not have helped. I had read on this board that some people recommended it. I am not a doctor, so I'm not able to really give any advice, but I just want you to know I took it for several months. I am starting to feel better now. It's been about 9 months, though. How many pills did your daughter take, and how old is she? The fluoroquinolones are not supposed to be used by anyone under 18 years old. I'm not sure if that is your situation. There is a support group available on yahoo. There are also several websites available that will offer much valuable information. Try www.fqresearch.org, www.fluoroquinolones.org, www.favc.info. Best of luck. I will keep your daughter in my prayers. Rose
