I had mine removed in Feb after having it just 5 months. I was very dizzy all the time towards the end of my "sentence". The dizziness subsided right away but then would come back periodically. It's now been probably 3 or so weeks since I've not had any dizziness....I think that maybe it just takes quite a while for that hormone to completely leave your body, I hope that you feel better soon.
Have you both looked into sinusitis? It was the cause of my dizziness or vertigo and is listed as a potential adverse reaction on the Mirena pamplet. I took Meclizine to help with the symptoms but have to take steroids and atibiotics to avoid surgery. I think my case is extreme but you may want to ask your PCP to refer you to an ENT for Sinus CT. If it is indeed Sinusitis, Flonase and Sudafed have helped.
I'm 10 weeks post removal and still experience dizziness. It's just not as constant as it was with the Mirena in place. I had the Mirena for 9 months so I'm going to give it at least that long to feel 100%. Good luck and I hope you feel better soon.
I tend to have issues with my sinuses, especially now that I've moved back to the South. I've been on Allegra since early Spring and I've had a couple of sinus infections in the past year.....all treated with antibiotics. I was given Meclizine about 2 years ago because I kept feeling dizzy (pre-Mirena) but it was a different kind of dizzy than the Mirena dizzy. Today I am feeling a little dizzy again and I am tired. Could still be my hormones out of balance.
This registry is a place to share positive or negative side effects of using Mirena. If you directly experienced a side effect while using Mirena, then we encourage you to enter it here. Please note that entries here are the experiences of individual users, and in no way means that you or anyone else will experience the same side effect, since the same medication affects people in different ways.
