Started Toprol XL 75 mg in December 2007. I had been having gastrointestinal issues and after much searching, I decreased the Toprol to 50 mg. and the symptoms went away. Before I figured it out, I had difficulty having bowel movements and unirating.

A MALE, 50 YRS OLD WITH AFIB AND TAKE TOPROL DAILY. I CUT MY MEDS IN HALF, LITERALLY. I BREAK THEM AND TAKE THEM. THIS IS NOT GOOD AS THEY ARE DESIGNED FOR TIME RELEASE AND BREAKING THEM DESTROYS THAT FUNCTION. BUT I DO NOT KNOW HOW ELSE TO CUT BACK. ANY IDEAS? I REALLY NEED TO GET OFF OF THE HEART MEDS COMPLETELY AS THE SIDE-EFFECTS ARE TOO MUCH. SWELLING, BLOATING, CRAMPS, HAIR LOSS...I CAN'T STAND IT.
