I have been taking LIPITOR for about 1.5 years and have been feeling the cotton head but thought it was allergies. for about 8 months or so I have been feeling pain on the left side of my chest and upper back by the shoulder plates. I've told my doctor and had several tests done incl. MRI, C-scan, etc. Once I even had to go to the emergency room thinking I was having a heart attack. But the doc. said the EKG was normal and that it might be muscular. I have not read that anyone else is having the chest symptoms. This is very scary to me. Lately I feel my neck getting stiff and I am also constantly tired and keep waking up at night and have a hard time going back to sleep. I don't seem to have the arm or leg pains that most people here seem to be suffering from but am now convinced it's LIPITOR since it is the only prescription medicine I am taking. I would appreciate hearing from someone who has had the same symptoms I've described above. I stopped taking Lipitor about 4 days ago and do feel already less tired but the upper body pain is still present.

I used Lipitor for 8 years before I got smart and started using natural products. Although I stopped taking that dangerous drug in feb., I still have the side effects. The muscle/joint problems (left side body/chest), sleepliness, etc. Unfortunately, drs. don't know the side effects from Lipitor. They rely on the drug co's who only care about the $. I spent countless hours to research myself.

If I can help you, just let me know.

Thank you for your reply. So you seem to have the left side body/chest pain as well? Does it feel to you like it's your heart? You said you went off Lipitor in Feb. 08 and still have the side effects? How long does it take for that poison to leave your body? Thank you for your time and response.

Hi, I'm now 54 yr male. 4 yrs on statins. Suffered every major effect listed on this site and more. B4 I stopped taking all my medicines which included blood pressure and beta lok I was convinced I was about to die. I could only walk 20 mtres, was weeing thimble cups all the time, nothing bodily at this stage would function, I was mentally and emotionally disturbed as well. I've been off statins since mid dec 07. I still take serious pain killer every day - BUT - I am a trillion times better off and am becoming quite optomistic of a complete recovery over the next 6 - 12 months. The heart and chest pains you mentioned, I had it was so bad the emergency doctors investigated heart attack. Those pains have now largley subsided and I have some confidence back. You need to take COQ10, make sure you purchase the tishcon hydrosoluable COQ10 supplements. Research, research and research COQ10 and the bio availabilty of COQ10. I found within 3 weeks taking 2 - 300 mgs a day of COQ10 hydroslubale my muscle, heart pains and palipations all improved by about 30% which was a HUGE help at the time. I now take 100 mgs a day. Apart from all the physical pain and dysfunction I now realise with my wifes help, that I had lost memory, become agitated, violent sometimes and generally mentally and emotionally unstable. Most of my problems are actually listed by the drug manufacturer as possible side effects - I hate my doctor's treatment. Anyway, commonsense with stricter diet, rest and exercise along with COQ10 and time I'm sure a better life awaits you. I used to totally trust doctors but now "my health - my responsibility" . Research, research, research COQ10 it is amongst other things direct muscle and heart food used by cardioligsts in hospitals through out Japan and don't skimp buy the best hydroslubale product going. (tishcon) I wish you and the rest of us good health once again.
