Hi, I just found this site and was wondering how long it takes this horrible drug to leave your system. I have been taking it for a year and have suffered the WORST depression and anxiety attacks from it. I have been lucky enough to have never suffered from any of these symptoms in my entire life and my heart goes ou to those who live with it every day So far I have lost my job, any chance of sleep, and I can barely get out of the house in the morning. Its having a direct affect on my marriage, I have lost all intest in my hobbies, unable to concentrate, I'm just a wreck. I just saw my Dr. last week and she made my dose smaller (25 MG) for the past week and I feel worse. Is there any ending to this?

Yes there is an end...hang in there. I'm not sure if you have read any of my postings. My battle with this medicine is done but I keep checking in here everyday to give people who are trying to get off hope that it will be better when it gets out of your system. While you're on it....you can't see or feel the hope and wonder if you will ever be the same again....you can and you will. Let your doctor help you get off or change medicines whatever is best for you. As tempting as it is....DON'T get off cold turkey. I did that and it was horrible and I have read you can have a heart attack. My doctor was the one who told me to do that and he was wrong! My heart goes out to you....prayer works really well during this time...
God Bless :0)
(Not everyone who takes this med experiences what we have and I think that is why most doctors dismiss our complaints...but they are real and they are miserable. My mom, friend and mother in law all take this med. My friend so far has had no reaction, my mom suffers from weak legs, and my mother in law has the cold/tingly sensations. They say they will tolerate it to realize the overall benefit of the med. 1 in 100 people suffer the sort of side effects we have...they are real and the will go away with time once you are off the med)

Dear LocalX,
I hear your pain and distress. Dr's are not the best listeners!! I am a nurse, I know!! Read my post today June 18th. I have been praying for an answer to all my symptoms, especially the profuse sweating I have been having for the past year!!!
I have gone to a # of dr's and I think they believe it is all " in my head"!!! I have been so depressed. My husband has even threatened to leave me. NO interest in much of anything. I don't know what it is like to sleep anymore :-( My husband says " just close your eyes and sleep like a normal person" Maybe after he reads the posts at this site he will begin to understand that everything I have been going through is "REAL". I am calling my dr in the morning and she will WEAN me off this awful drug!!! My Bp has been going up since I have been on Toprol instead of going down. I have wondered why the dr didn't just change the med. It really makes one wonder. DO the Dr's ever hear what we are saying????
God bless!!

Thanks for all your help, I have been off it for a month and am improving. I have no idea why they put this stuff on the market. I also have new respect for medication, I have never had a problem of this type before.
Again thank you for all your help.
