I am so glad that I found this website, because I thought all of this was just me! Nine days ago, I was prescribed 750mg of Levaquin/once a day for 14 days. I was just about to take today's dose but after reading only page 1 on this site, will NOT be taking the 9th dose, nor will I be taking any more of this stuff at all! Mine all started with a toothache a few weeks ago, and ended up in the ENT's office with the above prescription with a CT-Sinus scan after 14 days of being on Levaquin. I always read the side effects of any prescription that I'm given, and I was aware that Levaquin could cause ruptured tendons so I've been very methodical with every move that I make...my husband had a ruptured achilles tendon a couple of years ago and that's the LAST thing I want to go through. However, after reading this site, I now understand that all of the other symptoms that I've been experiencing over the last several days are most definitely side effects of Levaquin that they aren't admitting to. Plus, it doesn't seem to appear that being cautious about how you move makes much of a difference when you're taking this stuff. Metallic taste in my mouth; Thrush and a lack of having full taste; swollen knees, extremely sore and aching legs, hips, and back/neck area; nausea; jittery spells very shortly after taking the medicine; hot, then cold spells...everything listed here! Why are doctor's continuing to prescribe this stuff left and right?? I'd rather just have a sinus infection!

Hi my son was on Prednisone for 20 years on and off for allergies now he is allergic to the Prednisone that the creams would help him was crap. At no stage was he or I told of the side effects. Now he is in intense pain has major skin sores, swollen knees and ankles, night sweats and sleep problems. This medication is terrible and now he sits hunched up like an old man his skin is so sensitive he needs painkillers for a bath or shower.

I am normally a very physically fit specimen, working outside every day. One 500 mg. tab of this poisencompletely debilitated me. Within six hours of taking levaquin I experienced excruciation soreness in my arms and shoulders. My throat swelled up and I could barely breath. I was perscribed steroids to stop the swelling - I took only ONE 500 mg time release tab 7 days ago and today I am still experiencing incredible pain.I am so sore I can't sleep. If anyone wants to start a call action suit I am in - I have NEVER sued anyone - but I am furious.Any advise out there as to how I can flush this poisen out of my system?

Same joint pains as others have described. Terribly swollen knees(can't squat or walk without much pain), shoulder joints too painful to move in almost any direction, back of neck, shoulders painful, some pain in fingers, elbows, hips. Sleeping and dressing are very difficult. Trouble started after 1 week of taking Levaquin, did not connect it to the drug. Have been diagnosed with lupus and fibromyalgia but these pains are not like anything I have ever had. O was doing very well without taking any pain meds and exercising, walking 1 plus mile often. Now, it's been 4 days of this with little relief from rest, ice, heat etc. After researching, I'm worried. Waiting to hear from Dr. and vowing never to take another prescription without first researching.

I JUST TOOK LEVAQIN OR 5 DAYS FOR A CLOGGED EAR AFTER A PLANE TRIP. THE EAR STAYED CLOGGED FOR A WEEK BEFORE I WENT TO THE DR. ON THE 5TH DAY I WOKE UP TO SWOLLEN KNEES AND PAIN IN BOTH, AND THE TENDON BEHIND THEM. I STOPPED THE PILLS. I'VE BEEN PRESCRIBED AVELOX ON MANY OCCASIONS WITH NO PROBLEM AND IT'S IN THE SAME FAMILY OF DRUGS.I KEEP READING ALL THESE HORROR STORIES,HAS ANYONE GOTTEN BETTER AFTER STOPPING THE PILLS? I'M GOING TO THE DR. TOMORROW TO SEE WHAT SHE SAYS. SHE'LL PROBABLY TELL ME TO STOP SMOKING, SINCE SHE SAYS THAT CAUSES ALL MY PROBLEMS,LOL
