I started taking Lisinopril last March, and my monthly cycle went from a normal cycle to a debilitating three day pain fest.
The first month I had a uterine cramp like comparable to labor that lasts for three straight days. The second month I added a sharp pain in my stomach that compared to a severe food poisoning episode but the only symptom was the pain.
This continued through June, when I asked my physician to switch me to a different medication although he did not think the side effects I was describing was related to the Lisinopril. The next month the uterine cramp was less severe but I also was treating with Midol which may have been the reason.
Last month, at my six month check my blood pressure was still not where my doctor want to see it, so he put me back on Lisinopril and kept me on the Hydrochlorothiazide, now I am on two medications!
After reading this site, it occurs to me that my shoulder where I had surgery two years has also been acting up the last six months as well. I have been doing PT again after the pain increased and I asked my surgeon what to do. He made not connection to the medication I am taking as a possible source.
The only other thing is I have lost some weight, with relative easy (not usual for me). Which I had attributed to a change of eating pattern due to my new work schedule.
All things to consider now that I have read this website.
Thanks to all who share, this is the best way to understand that everyone does react differently and you have really pay attention to what is going on with your own body when you are taking any medication.

I have been on Loestrin for a month now. I had breakthrough bleeding the 2nd week in for four days, wasn't bad at all. Then i had three more white pills to go until I went to the iron and i started spotting so i am guessing i got my period? I went on Loestrin bc i still had bad cramps and my period for seven straight days and headaches. I have had a headache for the past three days straight and ive been crampy and have had back pain. I will give this pill some more time. it was nice having just spotting as a period. To make sure I took a pregnancy test and it was negative. But i hope my migraines stop :[

I have been on loestrin 24 fe for 3 and a half weeks now.........I have had my period, NOT SPOTTING, for 13 straight days. I have had a headache for the past 13 days. I have gotten VERY tired, and miserable lately. Not like me at all. My sex drive has lacked, maybe due to having my period for so long. I have crazy dreams EVERY night. Anyone else with me on this? ******

I recently went into an asthma attack that admitted me into the hospital on Sept 3rd. I was given albuterol treatments which I also use at home and have for 3 + years via nebulizer when needed. They also prescribed ADVAIR on Sept 4th or 5th and released me from the hospital. Once home my breathing started to decline despite using my nebulizer on time. By Monday night my breathing was shallow and my Cramps had severe pain onset. I began walking stiffly. I went to bed that night and my breathing continued to decline. In the morning I could hardly walk because of the pain in my calves. I could however sit and they "seemed " fine but turned in a bit. I took my children to school and at 8am dropped them off to the teacher at the curb check in. (Meaning I did not have to get out) I pulled aside to get out and see a friend and as I stepped out of the car my calves seized again. At the advice of my friend I decided to right away drive around the corner to the Medical Center where I go. I had an appt later that morning for follow up from Hospital, but decided I better not wait.
BY 8:10 I was in a red zone with my asthma Chest in FULL SEIZE (225 peak flow from over 375 an hour earlier using the peak flow meter I had in my car)
I got out of the car to go into the medical center and IMMEDIATELY Dropped DOWN a Foot and my Feet FLIPPED over my Knees Bowed out and I was walking like a Monkey. I scrambled to get into the medical center where I yelled for assistance and was given breathing treatment with no relief and sent to the Hospital via Ambulance. Breathing 3 breathing treatments in 3 hours no relief of Seizing in Chest. Xrays Clear. .I stayed there until Sept 16th where I have now been released, I am still walking monkey like , I have numbness in my face, a severe headache and I have not slept since Sept 14th at 5 am . I am not tossing and turning, I am wide awake.Today is Thursday Sept 18th. It took at least 3 days of before I was taken off ADVAIR. I had been on ADVAIR for at least 7-8 days 150/50 twice a day. I noticed a difference in my Chest muscle within 12 hours. My legs started to soften and not be so stiff within 1 or 2 days, however my feet drag sideways as I take a step. I have to swing my legs forward for each step. I directly link this to the ADVAIR.

Hi Guys
I am taking Yasmin since May 2006. I have been suffering from chronic daily headaches since March 2006 and wondered if Yasmin could be a factor in this? For my headaches I have tried so many different things and not been successful and hadn't looked at the possibility that Yasmin could be a problem until I started to google it. What do you guys think? Could Yasmin be adding to my problem of chronic daily headaches? Cos I have the headaches all the time.
Any responses would be greatly appreciated!
Regards
Warda

I finally don't feel so alone. I got into poison ivy on June 1. On June 12th I finally went to my md to get something to take for it to go away. I had been treating it with calamine, topical stuff and taking Benadryl.... She gave me a shot which actually made it all go away within two hours. BUT, she also loves giving out pills, so she gave me the Dexpak. I took it for 7 days and my heart was beating uncontrollably. I didn't get REM sleep for 5 straight days. I took myself off. Cold turkey, yeah, I know you're not supposed to do that, but that stuff was killing me. So finally after having a meltdown in my office at home, my husband and I went back to her to see what she could do for me. She said oh, just go home, drink some wine and get some sleep.
I went home, drank two glasses of wine (which after doing research is NO combination with with high powered drug and she should have known better!!) Took a really hot bath, tried to get sleep. My husband took off work for three days to try to get me sleep.... finally we went to the ER because my heart wouldn't stop pounding so fast. The ER drugged me with some serious sedatives. I had a reaction to those and had a panic attack in the ER, so their solution: strap her down (bruised my wrist) and take her to a psychiatric unit for "symptoms of schzitophernia." So I was basically in a room with a bunch of people that can't control themselves. I did get 8 hours of sleep and regained all cohesive control. I was still groggy from the sedatives, but I knew what was going on. The nurses were the rudest people I have EVER been in contact with. No wonder the patients were in fits! After 5 hours of me and my husband (who was downstairs with my Mom) they finally released me. I talked to the discharge nurse and she said that if I sign a form releasing myself "against medical advice" that insurance might not pay for it. I said, are you kidding me? I would rather pay to get out of here than sit here one more minute with these people.
It was the worst medical experience I've EVER had. I have since fired my md. She doesn't know it though because she hasn't BOTHERED to call to check on me!! So, I am not going to a psychologist and my obgyn to make sure those steroids didn't screw up my brain or my endocrine system as we are trying to have a baby. Yeah, that was my first thought too... why would my MD who KNOWS we are trying to conceive do this to me?
Whew. Anyway, so my advice is to make sure you have someone around you at all times that can monitor your heart beat and write down EVERYTHING that happens in case you have a situation like mine. I journal all the time, so it was easy for me to explain to the shrink.
Okay, good luck out there!!!

I am on 10 mg. of paxil and have been on it for about 4-5 years. I would like to come off but am worried about all these crazy withdrawal symptoms everyone talks about. I have gone as many as 3 nights without takiing any and never experienced "jolts", maybe a little jittery and confused. I am thinking about doing 7.5 mg. for about a month, then go down to 5 for a month, then 2.5 for a month.
I hear all these stories and wonder if the people who have all these bad withdrawls were on high does and if they weaned themselves off.
PLEASE HELP.
Thanks.

PROLONGED PERIOD:
(Previously posted erroneously on the Loestrin FE24 page, but this relates to Nuvaring)
I have had a nonstop, heavy period for 9 straight days since using nuvaring. There is next to nothing in the materials they give with the product that warns of this, so I have spent the last two days reading all kinds of stuff on the web trying to figure out what is going on. They mention possible "breakthrough bleeding" which anyone other than a doctor would think of as spotting between periods. But this has been heavy bleeding for 9 straight days with no apparent "end" in sight.
I used nuvaring once about 3 years ago and did not have this problem. In fact, then it viirtually stopped my period. That concerned me, so I stopped taking it. I went back on after my doctor assured me the reduced bleeding was not a concern, and the main PURPOSE for my using it was to reduce my heavy periods and related anemia, Apparently they have changed (lowered) the hormone dose in the nuvaring, and for some of us it is insufficient, causing the "breakthourgh bleeding." (It has taken EXTENSIVE web searching to glean this information.)
I finally removed the nuvaring last night, and while I guess it may take some time, I want my body to normalize from this shock. I've had nausea, and now I am very fatigued from the extended heavy bleeding. This is NOT what I signed up for. Some responses out there suggest that this problem may "correct" itself in 1-3 months once the body adjusts to the hormone levels dispensed by the nuvaring, but personally I cannot endure this level of interference with my life that long, and the fatigue is becoming debilitating.
I think there needs to be improved warnings and disclosures with this product. Hope this helps someone searching for answers as I was. KN

I had many side effects from Sulfameth. The worst being a headache. I have never experienced such a bad headache in my life. I have never had a migraine, but I am sure this could compare. This went on for 3 straight days. The first side effect was an upset stomach. I could not keep anything down. This was a completly different symptom then what I was treated for (sinus infection). That lasted for about 2 straight days. Today is the 5th day I have been on the drug, and it is the first day I have not had a headache. For the past two days though I have had a horrible medal like taste in my mouth and I am constantly thirsty. They are horrible side effects, but I am sticking it out hopeing that the end results are much better and worth all the miserable stuff I have gone through. Oh yeah and loss of appetite for the first couple days.

Hello, everyone. I am new to Yasmin and have only been taking it for 2 weeks. I am coming off of a 4 year break from BCP's and decided to try Yasmin on my OB's recommendation due to excessive moodiness/irritability with other BCP's that I've tried. In the past, I didn't have any other side effects from any of the other pills that I've tried (such as spotting, break through bleeding, bloating, etc.) In the 2 short weeks that I've been taking Yasmin I have had enough weird side effects to prompt me to go online and do some research, which led me to this site. I have had (sorry for the TMI) brown discharge for 12 straight days and today I have blood spotting. I also noticed that I have been extremely fatigued for the last week. Tonight I feel a dull pain in my left side and am bloated and feel "full", as if I've eaten a huge amount of food. I'm not even going to finish this pack. Thank you to everyone for your experiences.

I had two Kenalog shots in June 2005 for hayfever/ allergies. The first one on June 12th- 60mg (worked for only a week), and then another one June 19th -80mg. I told the Dr. I felt it too high of a dose but he felt if the first didn't take I needed a higher dose and it wasn't harmful. However in response to Guest #12186 and Guest #12312. I have now officially been on my menstrual period for 50 STRAIGHT DAYS- NON STOP!! I am 36 years old and until reading this web site I was concerned I had some horrible problem going on. I do have a Doctor's appt next week which I will still go to but hearing your same horrible side effects gives me some comfort. Is there anything your Doctors advised you to do on this? Any advise would be appreciated.
Thanks.

I am so thankful that I found this site....I thought I was going crazy when I started experiencing vision changes. My mother told me that vision changes with age...I knew it wasn't because I turned 35....I received a 3 month shot Sept. 2004..once it hit my system it literally took me off of my feet. I was in the bed for 7 straight days with muscle spasms, no appetite, insomnia, headaches, anxiety....elevated blood pressure and heart palpitations...The blessing in this is that I switched doctors and now will not have a mymomectomy at this time, which was scheduled for Nov. 2004. Prayerfully the tumors won't grow and I can carry a baby.
My question is....will everything go back to normal once the medicine wears off? I am waiting for a cycle and praying that I will be normal again...I sometimes cry and get so mad at myself for not holding off my decision to take the shot...I trusted my doctor over researching first.
If you trying to shrink tumors....I don't think the shot makes a great deal of a difference...and I have friends who had surgery without lupron and they were fine.

Hello everyone. I am also very grateful that I found this site - I really did believe I was crazy.
My obgyn prescribed Yasmin two months ago. The first month was fine - I didn't really experience any problems, except for the excessive urination. But as I was entering the third week on the second pack, I noticed that I was becoming EXTREMELY depressed and paranoid, and I also started having cramps. The week before and week of my period (Thanksgiving week), I began having blurry vision, pressure behind my eyes and a headache that lasted for five straight days, no matter what I took. I normally have headaches during my period week anyway, but not like this.
I also felt drained, and my coworkers noticed it. I decided to see my regular doctor (particularly because of the blurry vision and headache), and he switched me to another pill. He also said that many women have not been happy with Yasmin.
Last night, I experienced tingling and excessive itching, which has now gone away. The headaches have subsided, but the blurry vision has not. I visited my eye doctor today, who assured me that everything was healthy, and he could only attribute it to the medicine.
I hate that the majority of us posting here have experienced this ... it's such a scary feeling. But for those of you who continue to use it, all I can say is please be careful and please be vigilant. If you think something is wrong, don't let anyone talk you out of making a change. IT'S YOUR BODY!

I too feel like I am retaining an awful lot of water. All of a sudden I couldn't get my jeans zipped. This is very upsetting to me. I hate feeling this way. I am in the third week of my second month and bleeding steadily. Any exertion seems to make it gush. I hate this. First Nuva Ring made me bleed for 11 straight days Now Ovacon is making me gain weight I am taking it for PCS but I don't think it's working. I also am having intense abdominal cramping if I do sit ups.

I got the Mirena inserted on October 17, 2008, a few days after my 6 weeks check up. Like many of you, I was uninformed of any side effects. Sure I was given the pamphlet in the doctors office, but I was not prepared for this! I have been bleeding now for 11 straight days. I thought it was supposed to make periods lighter. Well, mine is lighter but it's taking so damn long to go off. I see why they call it birth control - cause you bleed the whole damn time you can't get any to get pregnant! The only visible side effects that I've experienced are mild cramping, decreased sex drive, and the shit just won't go off. Today is a Saturday, so first thing Monday morning, I will be calling the doctors office. I'd rather the shot than to put up with this.
