I'm in the middle of my third month on Loestrin 24 Fe. I used to be on Estrostep years ago, before I had children, and now am on this because of the low dose and my age (37). The first month, there was some staining near the end, then a lighter period (mine used to be 7-10 days, around 5 oz of fluid). On Loestrin, it's about 4 days, only a couple of oz. However, month 2, in the first week of pills, I took one pill about 8 hours late, then a few days later, took a pill about 6 hours late. The day of the second late pill, by two hours after I normally took the pill, I was cramping pretty badly and started bleeding like a full period. The bleeding lessened over the month, but never went away. Light period following. Now, on month 3, about 2 weeks in without having been late on any pills, I have had spotting the last few days and light cramping. Plus, the one time my husband and I had sex about a week after my period, there was some brownish blood afterwards, which he hates. So basically, he now refuses to touch me.

I have also noticed being more emotional, like I felt the two weeks after giving birth, crying more easily. I think that might be lessening now, though.

I am going to call my doctor to see if he recommends trying it one more month. I do remember that it takes around three months for a person's body to get used to oral contraceptives, although the first pill I was ever on (Ortho Novum 7-7-7) made me bleed lightly the entire six months I was on it, and when I switched to Nordette 28 that problem was solved. I just know that I can't have this spotting continue since my husband is so sensitive to any hint of blood, and I don't relish the idea of never having sex again. NOT the way birth control pills are supposed to work!! ;-)

I am on my fourth day of Doxy. Like many of the other posts I also experienced side effects not listed on my prescrip. info. sheet. The first day or so I did feel as though I was in a fog and was also very tired feeling. One night I felt like I had something in my throat and also burning in my throat. I was prescribed Doxy for having pneumonia so the tirdness may very well have been from that. The best advice that I can give that helped to relieve my side effects was to drink A LOT! of water when taking this medicine (20 oz) not the 8 oz advised. And to keep drinking water throughout the day and night. My side effects have all but gone away and I am starting to feel so much better.. Although I have not been in the sun it cannot be expressed enough that you should avoid the sun while on this med. And if you are having side effects try not to panic that will just intensify what is going on. Remember the side effects are sometimes better to have then the actual illness you are being treated for. But please drink tons of water. Also side effects can be reported to the FDA at 1-800-FDA-1088. If enough people call then maybe they will add new side effects to this med.

Two days ago, I needed to drink two doses of gastrographin one hour apart two hours before an abdominal CT. Not more than 20 minutes after drinking the first does with 12 oz. of cranberry juice I felt a burning sensation in my eyes and they started to water. I also felt disoriented for a moment or two, similar to what one might feel when they are driving tired and they have a hard time keeping their eyes open. By the time I had started drinking the second dose, I had diarrhea and visited the bathroom three times before setting off for my CT appointment.

Once reaching the medical facility, I used the restroom twice more within 40 minutes time before my scan. I feel like I am telling you way more than I would tell anyone else however it was remarkable to me to have to visit the toilet five times in less than three hours! I was made to drink a third dose just prior to my scan and given an IV dose of contrast. Throughout the remainder of the day I felt out of sorts: loss of appetite, lethargic, thirsty, and although less frequent visits to the toilet were necessary, I continued to have diarrhea.

The next morning I awoke with the most enormous headache. I have never had a hangover but what I felt was what I imagine a hangover would feel like . . . I felt crummy! I still had the diarrhea and I was drinking water like a mermaid out of water.

Today, two days later, I feel like I am back to normal. I attribute the crummy side effects I experienced to the gastrofrafin but not being knowledgeable about such things, I decided to research possible side effects on the web. So that's how I got here.

My doctor started me on Aciphex because I coughed quite often. It was thought Iwas having acid reflux. I took it for ten days and had gas a lot. Then yesterday I had a large bloody (probably 2-3 oz of blood) stool. I had 3 bloody stools altogether, then this morning just tarry stool, but no blood. My doctor said to switch to Prilosec

Im not sure if there's any connection, but I took Augmentin for 7 days for an abcess in my lower jaw molar, right side. I am suffering now from tinnitus. But it happend at the same time I was sleeping only 4 hours a day, preparing lessons for school which I did for 2 months, and I was drinking more than my usual serving of brewed coffee--twice a day, big mug, maybe 10 oz mug.

PLEASE READ:

I have posted my side effects here before. Was floxed at least twice but didn't put 2 and 2 together because the side effects came well after I had taken the medication. I caught it this time because I was on a higher dose. I was on Leva-Pac 750mg for 9 days. I have had 2 distal bicep tendon ruptures and surgery each time.

It's nuts that there is no treatment for the person who is floxed and how many doctors and hospitals are telling us this is all in our head. This needs some coverage. I had thought about Sonja Gupta on CNN but every other commercial is from a drug company.

Then I thought of Helmet Oz on Oprah. He is into alternative medicine and if he did a segment on Oprah I think it would raise awareness. I am writing and urging you to do the same. I am telling him my story and the lawsuit that Public Citizen with the Office of the Illinois Attorney General against the FDA to blackbox this medication.

Please follow my suit and submit a letter and also spread the word to other floxed web sites. The link to Oprah is

I found OsmoPrep easy to take and tolerate. Until I finished the second round. I just had two hours left to Drink.....I was to be NPO from midnight until test time the next day. Luckily I realized that what I needed to do was add even more liquid to my sy
stem. (I tend toward loose bowels anyway). I managed to get another 24 oz. in before midnight. Yes I drank 8 ounces with each dose of 4 tablets, but I needed MORE.
The next day my hands were a bit numb, but it was a cold day. However, after I checked into the hospital, my hands went completely numb. The nurse said that she'd never heard of that side effect. However, the doctor was late (aren't they always) and I lay there reading a book for almost three hours. Yes, the hands held the book; they weren't 'dead' but I could not feel myself touching the hand nor could the hand sense hot/cold or rough smooth very well at all. Test went fine. Recovery was quick. No more numbness as soon as I got liquid back in my system.

I had an arthritic flare up about 32 oz into the Nulytely treatment. I immediately noticed joint stiffness and some knee popping. It's been several days now and things still have not returned to normal in my knees. A couple of months ago, I had steroid injections for knee pain and have had no pain since. I am convinced that there is a connection between the Nulytely prep and the joint pain.

I've taken Vicodin 500mgx3 or less if needed for 7 yrs. I truly advise to follow the labels that are on the bottle, if food..take it w/food, if H2o...take it w/H20, I can't tell anyone how important this tiny label is. I have done just that for 7 yrs and the Vicodin has been working fine...believe me sometimes I run-out and get it 2 or 3 days later and I'm fine. I have 3 heri. disks in my back and scadica. I receive a complete ckup on my kidneys and liver which thank God are fine.....I drink about 10- 20 oz. of water a day to keep me clean and my urine is almost clear as H2o, doc says great!!

Went to the doc yesterday and he said I had a problem with my eustachian tube. He prescribed Nasacort and Guaifenex.

Took one pill last night around 6pm (with a 20 oz bottle of water). I could not fall asleep until 3:30 - 3:45 this morning. Tossed a turned a *lot*. Seemed like I'd go thru stages of being too hot, then too cold. Had intense dry mouth at some point in there. Glad I'm not the only one who seemed to hallucinate. =o/

This morning I woke up at 9:30, took another pill. Felt stoned most of the day. It wasn't until 1:30 pm that I managed to get myself into the shower. Good thing I didn't have to be anywhere.

I took one more pill at 6:30 this evening. I really wish I had found this sight beforehand. I'll definitely call my doctor tomorrow to see if I can just stick to the Nasacort. **sigh**

I've had 3 births. All premature births. My first I didn't take Yotopar, but he was born 6 wks early, 3lb 13 oz. No defects. My next 2 I took Yotopar and both have shown signs of learning disabilities (my youngest is in special education). My youngest is the one I took the most and longest amount of Yutopar. They were both still premature and underweight. I've suspected the Yotopar caused these negative side effects for a long time, but after reading these testomonials, I am positive.

To Gypsi--
Thank you so much for helping me! 32 oz of water sounds great. I already don't eat bread, pasta, rice or salty food (most of the time!) so it is no problem to cut them out. I also got the Diurex you recommended.

If I think this moon face will start decreasing by the end of next week, i will be ecstatic! Just knowing this has elevated my mood considerably. You are such a nice person for helping.
Thanks again!

To sanndiego,

Water is recommended to help you detox your body in addition to help you hydrate. Also, water is preferable over any other drink because is the purest of all and has no calories or carbs, especially if you are trying to lose weight it helps you feel full. I did not say to not drink water at all.....I advised you that considering our condition, you may want to not drink too much water because of our tendency of retaining liquids....and that will only be temporary until you get your normal face back, right? Instead of 64 oz of water, I drank 32 oz for when I had the problem. Again, don't eat bread, pasta, rice or salty food.....I know, it takes a while to get used to such strict new way of living but with persistence it will be worth it. Also, don't expect your moon face to go away this week, you just stopped Pred last Friday.........If you take my advice, you will have your moon face noticeably down by the end of next week, at least it worked for me ;)
God Bless,
Gypsi

I'm 49 years of age and have been taking 20mgs of Lisinopril for 5 years now, due to high blood pressure-It seems to have my blood pressure under control, but I have since been diagnosed with stage ll diabetes with slightly abnormal liver function tests, which surprises me since I know of no family history!-Has anyone else experienced anything similar? - Could this be a side effect?

I am only on my second week of yasmine. I took it because i gained like 20 lbs in a year on ortho tri. I have been extremely thirsty every night at school. I downed a 20 oz water in 5 minutes--usually i have a hard time drinking a whole can/cup of anything....other than that i am good. Did not know it was so easy to get depressed on this. After reading the posts i better be careful. Also, headaches every night, but they are dealable.
